1/3 Telesthesia Dolls

    1. The OC I originally had shelled with the 68cm body got swapped to a different one (more to do with compatibility issues due to the the new head's size than anything regarding the body itself), but I fully intend on holding on to the 68cm. From what I remember (I received it in 2015ish, so my memory's a bit faulty) it held a good range of poses right out of the box. I especially love the way the arms hold a pose without sueding, and he wasn't ever kicky. In fact— even when I did a full body blush I never bothered to unstring him, and he's been pretty steady without needing a restring since I got him. At some point, I hope to find another OC/head sculpt that I can use for this body:3nodding:

I surprisingly don't have a wealth of photos of the boy when he was shelled on the 68cm, but I think this shows a bit of his poseability:

No sueding, wiring, etc to get him to hold it at all:kitty1

That listing's actually been there for a while (I check occasionally out of curiosity), so there's a possibility he'll still be listed when you do have the funds to order him. If I wasn't so stuck on character specific shelling—I wouldn't mind having this boy myself. A sucker for elf ears, but I also love his expressive face.:thumbup

    5. Oh wow, I assume all of their fools come with the extra bits? If so, makes me even more excited to get my doll haha Not sure what I can do with 5, but it’s a fun thing to own

    6. It's so funny to me that companies literally never say in the body descriptions if they come with "parts" or not. So either you watch unboxings and find out if they do or don't, or you get your doll and.... Surprise! lmao

    7. I'm pretty sure only their 68cm and taller bodies come with extra bits which are magnetic. Way back when, when I got Mort on his first gen uncle body from 2009 he came with 3 bits. It's fun to compare the old to the current 72cm body.

    8. 5?? I can’t even imagine what …er…poses those 5 have. It’s kinda nice that TD are so thorough though. Prepared for all eventualities. My kids will be fascinated I imagine. Well my 13 year old daughter will be embarrassed and my 12 year old son will be fascinated. He’s much more down to earth than she is.

Lol can you imagine someone being totally unaware that “parts” might be in the box and opening a doll with their grandparents or something I’m 51 and I think my parents would be very uncomfortable if I opened a box to find a bag of parts like that

    10. Funny story in that vein! My mom gifted me Mort (aka gave me the money to order him) for Christmas in 2011, and since she bought him for me I let her open him. I also (purposely) failed to mention he came with extra parts (back then it was only 3). She was in her mid 50s at that point, and upon opening the small packet of man parts she looked perplexed. I told her to put one on him, and she slapped down the biggest one right between his legs with such enthusiasm that my now-wife and I nearly died laughing.

And congrats on starting your layaway!

    12. I have a bit of problem with my Rong You :sweat

I feel the size of his head is "way" too small in comparison to the size, height of his body! All my dolls have a head size that feels better in proportion to the rest of their body. My JID Lucian who is much smaller sized than my Rong You seem to have a larger sculpted face. Also my Doll Family H Beilan who's 70+ cm in height have a larger better suiting head in comparison to the size of his body.

My Rong You head look like a needle pin on a tall tower with his 68cm body. I feel like I would like him more on the 62 cm T&D body. It does say that both the 62 cm and the 68 cm T&D body have the same neck circumference, 10cm. According to Alice's Collections anyways.

So I guess getting my Rong You the 62 cm body should be fine?

    13. I’m sorry to hear that his head looks so small on the tall body. With both necks’ being the same circumference it should definitely work to just get the shorter body for him.

    14. That's good to hear :) I were just wondering at first if the neck circumference were listed right on Alice's Collections site as it's a bit of difference between a 62 cm and a 68 cm body.

I love my Rong You, but that body does not feel like him :sweat A bit bummed about this, as if I don't already got too many things in my doll hobby that I need to get done, and now I have to add one more thing to the list  But I rather he feel like how I see him, than how he is at the moment!

    15. Right now I'm looking at Longsoul Yan Ling, and his head circumference is 20 cm. Rong You's head circumference is 21 cm.

Maybe it's just me who are more used to a bit larger heads on my doll bodies :sweat But I guess none of my dolls have ever had this kind of pin head feeling, except from when I tried owning an IH FID once. And it were not cuite my cup of tea!

Idk quite how it is, but are more companies going for much smaller head sizes than there used to be in the past?

I thought my Iplehouse YID and SID boys had small heads before, but compared to Rong You there is quite the differnce, it seem.

Idk how the rest of you feel about 20, 21 cm heads on tall bodies? I guess I'm just used to going from the large heads of the DOD DOIs, from back in the day and work my way down to Dollmore, MNM, Iplehouse, Luts, Rainman and Doll Family H. None of them feel like they have either too large or too small heads, and they all seem to fit nicely on their bodies proportionwise without anything feeling out of place, or making me feel like it bothers me.

It's my first time going as far down in head size as my Rong You. I do like the Loong Soul dolls too but if smaller heads on larger bodies bother me this much, I better be careful and choose sculpts that comes with smaller type bodies, or be willing to put in the time to hybrid them!

    16. Yan Ling can be on either a 62 or 68 cm body too, like Rong You and the younger Xiao Bei from TD too. I think I'm running into the opposite problem, where a lot of dolls I'm looking at that aren't TD or Loongsoul feel like their head measurements are too big!
But I only have one doll to compare them to at the moment, so I'm not really sure where that sweet spot is for proportions.

    17. I’m the opposite from you @manabusama . I like small heads but I like a more realistic style overall. I get upset with heads over 21cm on my 73cm bodies. I have many 65cm doll heads on the 73cm bodies too. I also don’t want a doll that has huge eyes or normal sized irises. We all have our own tastes and I think that’s fine. The nice thing about Loongsoul and Telethesia is you can buy the bodies separately and make hybrids with whatever size head is your preference.

    18. I guess it all comes down to what we start out with in the hobby. I started with very large head sizes XD And gradually got used to going smaller, and then a bit more smaller.

The thing for me now is that I create a group of BJDs that belongs to the same background story. So I rather the head sizes won't be all over the place. I want to keep them looking as if they fit into the same world. If the heads get on the smaller side I solve that by choosing a smaller body. But since it's my first time ordering a doll like Rong You, I did not know what to expect!

I'd love to undress him once more just to see if I feel differently when he does not have anything on. But that Hanfu outfit took so long to get on that I'm not very tempted to to take it of just yet :sweat

It's definitely good though it is possible to go for some smaller sized bodies :3nodding:

Since I started in the hobby so long ago, I guess a lot of the head sizes back then were much larger in comparison to how the sizes have become today. Or maybe it were more that the DOD DOI heads were particularly large! I have horrible memory, so I don't really remember much besides some of the dolls I've owned or still own.

I don't feel like there's anything wrong with the smaller head sizes, just as long as they are on 62-63 cm bodies XD It were kind of a shock to me to see my Rong You as he do feel like a tower to me :sweat

But there might also be because I made up his character some time before getting him, and he were supposed to be much smaller in comparison to DF H Beilan, a fire demon that he encounters somewhere in his background story. "Long tower" Rong You just did not match with the character in my bacground story

I ordered through Alice's Collections, and there were no TD 60 cm size separate body option there though.

    19. Yeah I've noticed this trend too, of the ever shrinking head sizes in the large doll circles. It wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't own a bunch of older dolls with big heads, so it's a little off putting. My TD FeiHuaDeng twins are pretty pin headed in comparison to other dolls of mine in that size range.
My LoongSoul Black Dragon has a 20.9cm head circumference and it is quite the difference to his lover, who is shelled in an old Soom Chrom hybrid. I am so glad I opted for a puffy wig for the LS boy becaus it helps a little to even out the head sizes between the two.

My Dragondoll Cheng, from before the company's merger with Telesthesia, has a huge head, and looks right at home on the taller 80cm body I stuck him on. He did always look awkward being on a 72cm body before (the neck was rather short on the first uncle body from 2009 from Dragondoll), so I am glad he looks good on the taller body.

Honestly, smaller heads on more lithe bodies don't bother me as much as on buff bodies, I think that's what throws me off on Black Dragon in person. He's a pretty buff body and his head is so small!

    20. This is all why I got my Xiao Bei (the younger looking one) put on the 68cm body instead of the 62cm body that he's supposed to be on. In my opinion his head looks too big for that body in the promo photos, so I'm hoping that his head won't look too small for the 68cm body. However, I don't think it will because all of the measurements for the 68cm and 62cm heads are the exact same, not just the neck size. The measurements only go up when you reach the 72cm dolls, so I feel like I should be good. I also don't plan on keeping him on that body anyway, and changing it to a different company's body and then giving his to a different doll. That won't be for a while though.
