    1. I'm another that loves the jointed torso for posing and subtle balancing. One of my dolls has a two-piece torso, the other has a three, and there's benefits to both. But I don't think I'd like having a solid torso doll. I'd get too frustrated trying to work around its limitations. Of course, I also happen to like the look of a well-designed body with really cool jointing. If you really prefer the aesthetic of a solid torso, go for it. It's your baby. :)

    2. only 1 of my dolls doesn't have a jointed torso, and to be honest, i find her really hard to pose although her body is cuter looking. My CP Juri '05/DD Hybrid is both the best and worst. Very difficult to get her to pose so she's either not hunched over or arching her back like a porn star! However, my only mini, a slim mini serendipity sharmin, her jointed torso makes it a lot easier for me to pose her. I think with the jointed torso you just have to be careful how you string them. Also with my only 60cm with a jointed torso being vinyl the experience could be completely different with a resin doll. I'd personally choose a jointed torso just because I know how limiting the solid torso is and i enjoy posing my dolls. :)

    3. I have 1 MNF A line body and a DOC Body type 2. Its really kind of strange to switch from the 3 part torso [MNF] to the 2 part of the DoC. x.x;
Right now my MNF is like, or well, I think he's to tightly strung. He keeps snapping in the 'Slumped position' or he may just have scolioses. xD

But, i'd say if they didn't have those joints I think I'd go insane.

    4. I think for most of my dolls it would be nice, but if i have a couple without joint torsos it wont make much difference, And no joint torso looks alot better with skimpier clothes cause theres no line.

    5. I like at least one joint, I have an Orientdoll with no joint who feels stiff, dolls with joints under their ribs that can free stand (I like 2 part chest joints), and dolls with 3 parts. The 3 parts pose well but when they first arrived they were too tight and their hips would go out of whack.

To me part of it is how many clothes the dolls will wear. If a tummy will be hanging out I feel a 2 part chest joint looks a bit nicer to me.

    6. I love the poseability of a jointed torso. It is better for photos I think.

    7. Put down as an owner of both, though I definitely prefer a jointed torso. 2-part or 3-part. The more joints the better and more natural the poses. Companies that are clever about the construction of such joints can also make them pretty decently disguised also. A doll with a jointed torso will also re-sell better, so I'd choose that option. single piece torsos look nice in photos, but companies, especially ones like SOOM and Luts, are getting very clever about the placement of their joints and how it fits together so that its very non-distracting.

    8. haha i know your pain.... i have a DZ Ying and a Dollshe Saint.... i recommend investing in an armature for the Dollshe will stop the evil belly pop... ahem but back on topic.....

i prefer jointed torso's i own 11 dolls and 4 are jointed torso.... and they pose really well... opposed to the solid torso ones.... but like everyone said it's personal preference....

    9. My doll only has a joint where his back meets ... well, the section which would be pants on a barbie or ken, i guess. pelvis? i think he'd be easier to pose with another joint, and more would be possible - and the first thing i loved about BJD was that it never seemed to matter if joints were on show. so i'd go for more joints.

    10. After experiencing the very stiff (but omg so sexy) upper body of no joint from Ty, I declare I do love rib joints. He wont sit very well without showing off his buttcrack, or being forced to lean to something. He stands very un-natural too.
Emily have rib joints, and she sits and stands very comfortable and looks like she enjoys it.

So yes, 2 piece high torso joints = love.

    11. i think the hip joint is the sexiest, but the rib joint is probably better for use.....
if there is both, than god! ur doll will pose very naturally i believe =)

    12. (Ribs joint)

I really, really like the rib joint. I don't really like the hip joint all that much. I like how the rib joint doesn't interfere with the stomach abs detail for an adult male.

    13. I have 2 one piece torso's (leeke chouette and OD Tae) and they're alright, I got my Tae with the gentle body just because of his chest, i didn't want that awkard looking joint to mess up the aesthetics. I wish my chouette had a hip or midrift joint though.

But i love the 3 piece jointing of my IH Barron, the posability is great and he hardly slips (helps to have some sueding) and he looks great too. ^_^ Definately will get more 3 part torsoed dolls in the future. <3

    14. I adore my MNF's three piece torso. However, most dolls don't have three piece torsos, so I'd have to say the two piece torso/rib joint. No matter how much I like a doll, if it doesn't have a rib joint, and I can't get a different body for it, then I won't buy it. My Yeon-Ho previously had a body with only the hip joint and it drove me insane! It was far too hard for me to pose him...and he couldn't slouch ;o; Not only that, but the hip joint caused a lack of detail :/ It looked strange because he had abs and then this smooth, even area of resin. From now on, I will stick with torsos that at least have rib joints ^_^

    15. I prefer the upper torso joint. I think the posing is great for me, and hips joints just looks odd in my opinion. I would like to add I really prefer the joint at the rib cage. Several companies are doing the joint directly under the bust for some female dolls. It bugs me because you can't really bend like that in real life. My two bits. :)

    16. 2 piece high definitely. What you lose in mobility you more than gain back in a more natural look. Posing is also not all that bad.

    17. How I hate hate hate low hip joints. They add no posability, really, people don't bend there and they destroy the line of the lower body and hip. And I find that most dolls that have them have absolutely no detail on the lower part of the joint and it looks a bit like Ken or Barbie underwear. Thus, I will not keep a body that has a low two piece joint or a three piece torso.

    18. I think it depends on the size of the doll. I love the 3 piece (2 joint) torso on my 70cm dolls, but it would be a lot less practical on my 11cm tiny (solid torso)

The other thing to take into consideration is how well strung the doll is. I get some popping of the lower joint in my more loosely strung doll than my tightly strung doll.

    19. I prefer the Two Piece High Torso, it give the doll the type of movement I like, while not flopping over awkwardly, like some of my boys do because they have low hip joints.

    20. I prefer one piece torso because it looks better in certain clothing (tight clothing, clothes that shows belly/stomach), and the body line is pretty overall.
the only problem is that, it can only make limited variety of poses......
