Oct 2, 2009

    1. FYI, I found this great article about airbrushing Future Floor Wax and how to get it matte

    2. I definitely would want that kind of face-up for some of my dolls. For Luken, even though it's a default face-up. For Tharesion and for Celaran who both were done by a very talented face-up artist. Why? Well, they're just perfect. I don't want them to look any differently - EVER. I want them to stay as they are, that's what I paid for - that's what I wanna keep. I only recently noticed that part of Luken's left eyebrow is starting to rub off and I was all "oh no, what do I do now? What do I do when, one day, he needs a new face-up? Will I find someone who can get it right?" He's absolutely PERFECT the way he is. A different face-up would most likely ruin him. He would still be the same face-mold but kinda not the same "person", if that makes any sense to you.

    3. If Luts faceups were permanent I'd be one happy camper! Halo is getting so old that pretty much everything has worn away but her beautiful eye makeup. She came to us second hand and was already in the worn-out condition but I've hesitated on getting her repainted. I love that Luts look too much and we're in a terrible habit of kissing her little face.

My new Luts boy Ciel has such a gorgeous faceup that I'm in constant terror that it's going to wear off or be damaged. His faceup is twice as gorgeous as the one pictured on the Luts website, so no face kisses for him!

    4. Hmm. I must say, permanent body blushing does sound nice, although I'd prefer it to be an optional part of the modling process, and therefore not decrease the dolls market value. That way, it'd feel more like an official part of the doll, and I wouldn't mind not being able to remove it that much.

Permanent faceups sounds like something that might be usefull for people who accidentally touch their dolls faces alot for some reason, or kids. Permanent faceups would be perfect for people who want to give their kids a BJD, especially if said kid is slightly clumsy.

    5. Noooooo way for me. I got my first doll 10th of June and she's on her 7th face-up now. I love face-upping and wouldn't ever buy a doll that had a permanent face-up. Even for body blushing, that would define a lot what you could do with the face-up so I wouldn't want that.

    6. I am not quite sure. I mean I would love my doll's face to be lasting. I mean even humans don't change their eyebrows, right? But what I fear is myself, on the spur of a moment I may decide that the faceup is the best, I want her to look that way. To play safe, I probably will choose a pretty versatile face so she can carry the range of clothes I put on her, but what if years later I discovered an even more versatile face that suit her even more? I will be kicking myself.

    7. Permanent Face-up? Probably not.
but a permanent Body Blushing would be pretty cool I think
but it would have to be a more subtle thing :3

    8. I'd love to have it done, being very hands-on with my doll I'm too put off doing body blushing (which is something I'd adore) because I knew with my constant changing clothes and genral handling it won't last... this would especiallly tick me off if I put a lot of time/effort into it!

    9. i'd go for permanent body blushing however face-up is an iffy, if i was 1000% sure i was keepng the head then maybe however if it was for 'minor repairing' purposes for example to even out yellowing or to cover up a sratch or anything like that i'd probably use it :3

    10. i would buy a doll with permant makeup only if i want the doll to look exactly like that.

    11. Would you do this? Why or why not?

Yes for blushings and no for faceups.

For me, since I often do the blushings myself, I find it a hassle to reblush the body once in a while. I wish to have permanent blushings done to their bodies!

However, for faceups, since I'm the type of person who likes to change the faceups once in a while (because I get bored of the same faceups), a permanent faceup for me will be a no-no.

Would you buy a doll with this treatment?

I will only buy a permanent blushed body.

    12. you might not like it so choose carfully

    13. I too can see the appeal of permanent body blushing if sutble, so it could be customised further if wished for... but to have a faceup as permanent ... well, that isn't my things at all. One of the things which got me into the hobbey was the cusomisation aspect and how I was the power to do this and not rely on a company to provide the look for me. I just love how molds can look soo different in combination of faceup, hair, eyes... have also modded the resin and if the faceup was permanent, would make that also very awkward. There have been a couple of second hand dolls I have bought and revamped to my style and would not have bought ever if that look was permanent ...

    14. If you are 100% sure you are going to be satisfied with the outcome forever and are 100% certain you are keeping said doll, go ahead and get an 100% permanent face-up and body blush. However, if you do not meet those requirements, don't do it. Imagine it as getting a tattoo. If you aren't 100% certain you want the thing forever don't bother.

    15. I would only do this when there's no chance of me ever reselling the doll, or ever wanting to change their faceup, probably in the occasion of a definite character for the doll.

    16. Personally, I would never do this. Part of the fun is evolving and changing the bjd.^.^ Even when they are completely and utterly perfect, you might realize later on that you want to make changes. It would be safer to do a faceup/blushing that wasn't permanent.

I would not buy a doll with this type of treatment. I would like to experiment with faceups and blushing on them.c:

    17. Hmmm.... *_*
I definitely would not get a permanent face up. I like to change things, and even if I liked the permanent face up at the time, I would eventually grow tired of it. :|
I would probably go for permanent blushing. Blushing on the body is cute and I think I would pay for the permanent blushing if it would really be COMPLETELY PERMANENT.:)

    18. I'd be all for the permanent body blushing; I'm constantly changing my dolls' outfits, so it would be nice to know that the blushing is safe. Especially if it was something really fancy, or something I'd paid to have done.
Permanent faceup though, not so much. I like being able to change the face. :)

    19. These dolls being 100% customize-able are the basis of their appeal to me. So I don't think I'd like either. I'd rather just keep repainting and blushing them for the rest of my life XD;

    20. Agreed. Painting face-ups is the most fun part of this hobby for me. Blushing I don't enjoy as much, but it is nice to know that I can change the colour of the "skin" with it a bit. Because... who knows? I might want to turn a doll's body into a hybrid, and then I can make the body match the other company's head better.
