1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 2018 Half-year Resolutions?

Jul 19, 2018

    1. Finish the cross stitch project I've been determined to finish before starting making doll clothes. Get at least two more dolls faceupped by the end of the year (fortunately I think I know who I want to do one of them). Don't buy another doll unless I end up getting a Dollmore Trinity Kate.

That seems like a decent goal.

~ Stop buying doll wigs, lol
~ Get proper clothes for my minfee, she currently wearing my yosd clothes.

    3. Ahh... Can't believe it's already halfway through 2018. Time flew by so quickly*_*

Here's what I posted at the start of the year and the progress up till now:
      • Cut down on spending cos I spent way too much in 2017 (though I'll probably fail badly if any grails pop up 2nd hand or re-release) Contradictorily, I already have my eyes on some Pygmalion heads and I also wish to get a Soom Idealian but that depends I got both the Pygmalion heads and Idealian :dance and so... I failed terribly at cutting down my spending
      • Get some eyes cos the ones I have right now don't fit a few of my newer heads Done~ but there's never too many eyes haha
      • Wigs for my incoming pair of 1/8 dolls so they don't have to stay bald Done~
      • Give all my blank heads a faceup Almost there
      • Give all the nameless folks a name Most of them still don't have a name, it's so hard for me to come up with names
And for the remaining half of the year:
      • Cutting down on spending again cos I'm still a part-timer :sigh
      • Buy some clothes for my idealian or sew him some
      • Continue the faceups for the blank eggs

    4. I have been living with my inlaws for a few years now and want to get back into this hobby once my house remodel is complete.

Right now I don't even remember all the dolls I own and have only named my original boy. I want to set them up a designated space in my new house and work on naming and outfitting my group.

    5. Oh man, my bjd new years plans for 2018 kind went a bit....wayward. So yeah, I like the half year mark reshuffle idea.

      - Get Benjamin his new face up (in the process of this)
      - Get Souldoll heads I’ve always wanted since the opportunity has arisen (way to crash my plans in a fantastic way there Souldoll).
      - Organize ALL my doll stuff.
      - Sell off the excess/what I don’t use.
      - Get back to sewing. I was doing so good then got lazy.
      - Take more photos. Set a goal of once a week.
      - Stop buying eyes and wigs - I have enough!
      - Going into 2019....stick to the budget and no new dolls!!

    6. The tag #dollyshelfsunday used to be a good weekly doll tag on Flickr, maybe we can borrow it or make #bjdweekly for a thread here in BJD Games section.

    7. Just failed in my resolution not to buy more dolls this year. So, I'm still trying for the "don't buy any more dolls!).

    8. I am making some progress! :celebrateI've started an inventory and notes for a work list.

And I pared my actual 'to buy' wishlist hard, and I'm not surprised at which 2 older dolls stayed on it.

Doll Chateau coming out with limited doll Hathaway was a real test because she's 'carved' and I really like dolls with this aesthetic, I've kind of been waiting for a more standard size/shape with carving or embossing...
but does she have a story in my realm? No.
Do I need another display-only unique doll, especially one who looks their best nude or nearly nude? Nope.
Does she fit a unique niche in my collection that I really want to fill? Kind of but not really.
So I passed. Sure, I had a twinge but I'm over it. I asked myself also if spending her price on existing dolls, for their styling, or putting the cash towards a better camera is something I would want more...and the answer was yes to both. So that really helped me say 'no' to her. I think it will take some practice to really learn to only buy what I love most and to let many that I just like go or stay unbought. And I might change those rules once my collection is a little better curated but for now, it's a good method.

    9. Maybe if it write it down it'll happen :)
Finish ventilating the wig I'm working on this year. So many tiny knots.
Get a doll stand for my incoming granado Uriel
Cloths! My boys need more outfits. All are clothed and have shoes but it'd be fun to have more choices
Pull out the sewing machine and get more practice to make said cloths
Finish face up on my DF-A ShuShu. It's almost done but stupid eyebrows :sigh
Work in progress pictures for myself so I can see how far I've improved.

Good luck to everybody making a post here:sumomo:

    10. Welp, I haven't thought much about it until now and we're already in August but here goes:
      Polish my sewing skills
Keep trying faceups until I get way better
Build my MSD boy (soon to be boys) his own loft. I've been making furniture and props as well as gathering them for a while and I think I have a plan. Just need a supply list
Learn to do better photos on my cellphone because I refuse to buy a camera. XD

    11. I never really got to writing down my doll goals, here's hoping a note of it will help things get done!
-No more dolls for the rest of the year! My exception being the doll I already have on layaway, but she probably won't come until next year anyway.
-Final purge. After this, I'm hoping that I can be picky enough that a doll coming into this house will not be destined to leave.
-Doll shelves. New house, and the dolls need a place all their own, so they do not take over all flat spaces. Bonus points for keeping them away from my two new kittens when they get full run of the house.
-Become active on social media with my dolls. My dolls are my muses, and I need to take advantage of that. It also forces me to dust off my photography skills to apply to work, win win!

    12. Since I only recently decided to dig my heels back into the hobby I've got a bit of a list that I'm hoping to at least start (probably won't be able to finish it since I've got a lot of other important life expenses coming down the pipeline here soon). But so far I've got the following:

      • First faceup time! Finally faceup my Little Rebel Sarang head that I've had sitting in a box for a year (this is going to happen either today or tomorrow, if the rain let's up). ::UPDATE:: Done!
      • Purchase a body for said LR Sarang head. I've managed to narrow it down to two potential prospects, and I'm leaning heavily in favor of one.
      • A dolly overhaul. For my Crobidoll Nia, Riley. His character has "spoken" to me and politely requests he become a sweet forest dwelling mori boy, so that's what we're gonna do!
      • Build some furniture and props! I may currently live in a tiny studio apartment, but that doesn't mean I can't have a small space to set up a modest scene with at least a sofa and a bookshelf for them. It wouldn't take up more space than what they're currently occupying and it'll hopefully be a nice little setup.
      • Find and attend a local meetup or at least make some doll friends in the area. I just need to stop being a social recluse and put out some feelers. Actually... this suddenly gives me an idea...
That's it for now though. I don't want to go adding a ton of goals since I took quite a long break from the hobby, but I figure it's a modest list to get me back into the swing of things.

    13. In order of importance:

      1. Finish the sofa that's half done. I hope to finish this by tomorrow (because that's the end of my vacation!) --- Done!
      2. Make a jacket to complete the suit for my SID. This was actually my vacation project, but the pattern that I finally found for a SD17 suit jacket that I figured I could modify is temporarily unavailable for purchase. And I don't think I can manage a suit jacket pattern from scratch.
      3. Put up for sale the wig and eyes that I want to get rid of. --- I sold the wig! I can't figure out what size the eyes are.
      4. Try to clean up the hands on the floating body that I recently acquired. I think they were an attempt at body blushing, but the result looks like her hands are covered in bloody scratches. --- magic sponge didn't do anything.
      5. Find a head for the floating body. Actually I found a head. But it isn't the right size. So now I kind of want that doll instead... But the doll itself is pretty big... I'm trying to stay out of that rabbit hole.
      6. Excepting #5, buy no more new dolls for the rest of the year.

      1. Create a character and story for my first doll. I've put it off for quite a bit, but it needs to be done.
      2. Learn how to use a sewing machine, so I can make dresses quicker.
      3. I want to at least make a decision about what boy doll I want to get or not get.
      4. Kind of unrelated, but I have a lot of stuff I want to learn how to do. Read Tarot, learn Japanese, take art classes, get better at sewing...so much I wanna do, but I know I realistically can't do all of it.

    14. Oh, I love this thread! Seeing everyone's goals makes me want to do more things with my dolls!
So for me, it would be:
      1. Figure out what I want to do with my crew (some characters seem to be changing, a couple of my dolls are practically abandoned in their boxes, I have a head that I'm not sure what I want to do with...).
      2. Be more active in my patchwork store (so I get more items ready for the next Christmas' campaign) and in the dolly world in general as I have been pretty inactive the past year.
      3. Finish the wig for my main girl (whatever she is going to be called now as her character is the one that its changing).
      4. Don't purchase anything till I have I have fulfilled the previous goals (I mean it, it is almost a punishment for myself: no dolls, clothing, eyes or anything related to dolls!.

      1. I have a few heads I would like to get bodies now, so I can complete a couple dolls that have been waiting for a while to be finished. And one that has had like, three bodies. He needs to be on one permanently.

      2. After that, all my DC Super Villains will be dolls, and I'd like to get them finished with at least one good outfit (their outfit) so I can take a hopefully-decent group picture of them being evil.

      3. I have a large pile of bodies and heads that I need to move on. I need to get on that....

I have some smaller things, like faceups, or makeovers or working on the head I started sculpting on a whim the other day...but those three things are really it for the year. If I could do that, I'd be thrilled.
