5StarDoll Minis discussion part 1

I haven't been in here in ages...I probably should have.
I love my Lura so much ^^ So it's really nice to see another one. She really does have such lovely ears.
But...I have come to ask about Resin Matches...as my girls old now what was the white resin (always more yellow than white) is quite hard to match. So I was hoping someone somewhere might have some comparisons...please?

Oh and spam shot..just because I love her in this..even if I can't find a wig I like on her.

 

It is hard to find a nice wig for Lura that shows off her cute little ears. She's such a sweety though.

Speaking of sweeties I recently got Allen

He was an event doll and I was so busy fussing over what to get the big boys poor Allen got stuck with the Weasly wig and *gasp* has no pants. We'll sort him out soon, though he may keep the wig.

I'm getting impatient for mine to get here . . . Everyone seems to be getting their event items pretty quickly, so there's hope I'll get mine before school starts. *fingers crossed*

And thank you ^^ She was my first and still my favourite. I want to show off those ears and I'm struggling to find a nice updo wig.

 

Monique makes a couple of cute updo wigs, I'm still debating if I want to buy one for my Lura, I love her in pink, but the wigs I've looked at come in more natural colours. And I'm not sure if she'll take a 6/7 or a 7/8 in a Monique wig.

 

The wig my Lura came with was pink and so long it reached her feet.
I want a more natural one..so I might have a look. I know my Lura won't take a 6/7 Leeke world wig cus I tried.

 

I'm not in love with the 5star doll bodies, I like a slimmer msd. Does anyone know what body would resin match with the 5star pink skin?

 

My 5star doll, Ji arrived yesterday - she is lovely, but compared to my other doll (AOD Rao), seems very.... chunky. It's fine, insofar as her character is a very androgynous lesbian, always in jeans and sports wear. But the face, and default face-up, come to that, is stunning.
As far as the resin question goes, I'm a total noob, so - sorry!

 

I'm similarly hoping for some ideas for similar resins...but strangely I actually find my Lura quite slender (though I have the old old body...) Except for her thighs. Compared to my Soom mini she's very thin...

 

I have an A body Emily in normal her skin is more yellow and a little darker than Dream of Doll normal skin. I don't know if that helps because I don't know if their resin colors are still the same. And yeah the A-body does have large thighs.

 

Hi, everyone. I am going to be getting a 5Stardoll female. Can people post their Emma's Ji's and Chu's for me so that I can decide on a sculpt? I would appreciate it!

 

Hi, I no longer own these dolls but here is a photo of my Emma (my favorite 5star MSD sculpt atm) and Ji. I debated Chu at one point but Yoka won out.

Ah sorry for the double post but I thought it would only be fair to show Ji dressed and wigged as she is super cute. Also including a bald photo of Emma for comparison.

As you can see both Emma and Ji have a cute overbite but Ji has fuller lips. Emma's lips are the thinnest BJD lips I've ever painted and I painted outside the line on the upper lip to make them fuller with a sharper v at the philtrum as you can see in the bald pic. In reality the Emma sculpt has a softer upper lip than what you see here.

Ji has a softer rounded nose and eyes while Emma's eyes and nose are sharper on a more heart shaped face. I think Emma has a sweeter face while Ji is cuter but it also really depends on the faceup.

 

So from this, I gather that you prefer the Ji sculpt? (I am also leaning towards Ji, but keep going back to Chu and Emma; particualrly Chu.)

 

Ah, Actually I like them both but a lot of times the way a doll looks depends on the faceup. I personally like Emma more than Ji but that is because I prefer pretty and delicate over cute. It's personal preference tho. The resin color also affects my choice as I like the pink skin for Emma combined with the faceup a lot.

 

Oh, yes I see. Face up really can make or break a doll for sure. One more thing, how is posing? I absolutely have to get rid of the doll I have now because I can't stand the way she poses. So I am looking for posing now over a lot of other factors.

 

As far as I know, posing is so-so. I have a Jessica, she has trouble standing on her own and her mobility range isn't the best. On the other hand, She's strung a little too tightly and I have yet to fix it. She doesn't have the double-jointed body and I was disappointed when 5SD stopped selling them. I'm actually planning on selling my Jessica, I just haven't been able to bond with her like I had hoped to.

I'm sure that posing is probably better than my RS Li. Can she at least sit? If you have any pictures of the posing, it would be appreciated ;D

 

She can sit... But that's about it. I'll see if I can get some posing pics for you! It's funny you say that, because my RS Li poses better than my Jessica.

 

I have the type C body on all my 5star dolls. They are a little floppy but probably because mine are strung quite loose so that can be fixed easily. The elbows and knee joints are not the best for flexibility but enough for most poses. Since mine are the c type the mobility thigh joint tends to swivel around a lot so you just have to keep that in mind when posing them.

Here are a few pics of my girls posing. They stand and sit very easily for me. They also tend to fall into natural poses due to the waist joint.




as you can see, she balances easily and has a nice back arch.



A nice slouch.
