5stardoll Supers

So I finally got around to emailing them yesterday about my order, and the very prompt response I got was:

Saffron, thanks, I started with the wish to change his hands and ended up giving him new body.

 

So, as I just posted in the waiting room - Tumnus (along with Amy) has been shipped! So hopefully they'll get here swiftly and safely.

Now I have to hurry up and sew some outfits for Telior (Angelo) and Gisana (Amy) so that father and daughter will be dressed when the new arrivals get here. Varroth (Tumnus) will have the outfit I ordered with him.

 

How exciting!!!!! I can't wait to see what you do with Tumnus.
I won't have Michelle for a while since I have them on layaway.

 

I asked about a doll for sale on Craigslist a few months back, but the seller had already sold it. Now they are tellin me that the sale didnt work out so they kept the doll however some events have come up requiring them to sell him quick and they offered me a choice to buy him.

Can you tell me honestly how these boys are? I'm not sure if it is the 1/3 size yet. I'm waiting on news back from the seller with more details. But since his original price was $350 I am assuming that it is the big size I'm wondering how well they pose. I was hoping to find owner pics showing how well the boys pose, but I have had little luck.

I do dislike how small the hands seem to be compared to the face of the doll. Which companies would make hands that are a good replacement in size and resin match?

That doesn't sound right to me. If you look on the 5stardoll website, their 1/3 big size boys are $260. The only one that they are selling for $350 is the brand-new limited 1/3 boy that JUST came out, so your Craigslist seller can't be offering that one... My advice would be that if someone on Craigslist is offering you the "opportunity" to buy a used 5star doll from them for $350, or even telling you that's what the original price was and then offering you a "discounted price" from that inflated original price, that person is not being honest with you and you'd be much better off ordering yourself a brand-new one straight from the company.

 

Looking at the email again, it's actually $325 and it comes with a wig and eyes. They are willing to discount from the $325 price, but I'm not sure how much >.>

I've asked them for pictures and asked a lot of questions. Because if I can get one brand new for the same price, I won't bother with the seller. But if they did discount it significantly, and Iike the sculpt, then I will consider buying him.

I'm just really curious as to how well he poses and such. Thank you very muh for looking out for me price wise

I'm also taking into consideration that 5star is releasing a brand new body too.

 

Maniah: Oh good, I'm glad you're aware of the prices from 5stardoll and so on. I just didn't want to see you get ripped off by an unscrupulous Craigslister and end up paying more for the doll than you would have paid for a new one! Because that is just not fair. [break]Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the posing on the boys. My 5star doll isn't here yet (just paid her off and waiting for her to ship), and she's a 1/3 girl anyway so not the body you want to know about. Good luck on your possible purchase though![/break]

 

I have 4 Supers....what do you want to know? They stand like rocks and pose great in my opinion. They are not floppy and their arms can hold things. I didn't have to do a thing to them ..they stood right out of the box!

Also still needing to know if anyone has had any success exchanging the boys hands with bigger hands from another company. And if so, can you share pics and resin colors/company info? Thanks!

 

Maniah, 5star super body stands good and is simple and nice to deal with, but all the poses are simple as well. Also not only the hands but all the body may seem too small compared with dolls from other companies. I like this body but I've put a smaller head on it. However, tastes differ.
I tried DikaDoll jointed hands. The colour is different from 5star, but blushing helps, I needed long nails and it made my choice. I have only one pic with 5star body because I changed my mind and don't use it with this body now.

 

From the site of 5SD:
Set includes:
1.Complete assembled doll (body,head).
2.A pair of random glass eyes 16mm.
3.Packing box with two blankts
4.Card of Authentication
5.Undergarments

So the eyes are included in the doll price anyway. That means you're paying $65 more for a doll that has a wig, and possibly no underpants. Pretty expensive wig, if you ask me.

 

I know, right? Though he does come with boxers. I pointed out the price difference to the seller when I replied. Im waiting to hear back, though I will honestly be surprised if I do hear back from them. If they know what they have, then they know the price is wrong. If they know the price is wrong, then they are looking for someone to dupe, and they will ignore me since I did my research. But if they made a genuine mistake, then maybe it will still work out.

In the end, I probably won't wind up getting him, just a feeling I am getting based on how suspicious this all seems. Still, maybe it will work out anyway!

Edit: well, I got a reply. The seller says a friend gave him to them and the friend said he could sell for $325. >.> Also, no certificate. The seller said they could go as low as $245 and start from there. I kindly explained to them that with a new body about to be released, and no certificate, I would be unwilling to pay more than $150 for the doll, and thats if i even like the sculpt when i see pics. I gave the seller some things to consider when looking for a new buyer, and gave them the link to the 5stardoll website.

Ooh, so the long-nailed DikaDoll hands work well on Supers? I was wanting to order them for my incoming Tumnus because I wanted the long nails... my daemon boy has to have talons XD I'm glad to see someone else has used that combination, even if only briefly. (Do you mind if I ask why you changed your mind? Out of curiosity?)

Honestly, I can't wait to see the new body - it's just a shame that my Tumnus was probably made before they started using the new sculpt. Oh well. (Though if the hands are better, hopefully they'll make them available separately and I can order a set for my Angelo...)

 

Nyara, to my mind they do! They are rather good in joint, but the original colour of DikaDoll was much paler. I also tried Doll Family hands (not jointed), but they are too big for 5stars.
I ordered DikaDoll hands for my Dark demon (demons seem to love this type of hands) and he has this hands now, but with a new body as well. As for 5star body, it's new head is a young boy and original small hands are just ok. New 5star body is really interesting, we can see it with Gabriel, but it's not enouph!

Here is 5star Dark on Doll Family-A body with DikaDoll hands and DF-A head on 5star super body. I didn't plan this body-exchange, I just planned 2 dolls, but when both were at home I suddenly understood that the colour-match is nice and I have to replace their heads.

 

They look amazing, Tea-Leaf! I love their garb, too. ^.^

I think you have definitely sold me on the long nailed Dika hands - so I know what my next purchase will be when I have money for doll stuff. XD Sadly, DikaDoll's grey resin is much darker than 5SD's - so I'm going to have to do some creative blushing. I'm thinking of painting his hands and feet dark charcoal-grey and then fading it up his forearms and calves, kind of like a colourpoint cat...

I ordered Dark's robe for him because it seemed perfect for his character. Obviously he doesn't have his jointed hands or blushing on his horns yet, and I haven't decided whether I want to give him eyelashes, but otherwise he's stunning! (Although I need stronger magnets for his horns. They don't stay on well through his wig...)
