1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

5stardoll Supers

Jan 6, 2011

    1. Wow that's a great shipping time.

    2. In contrast to my eBay transaction with 5stardoll I bought a Tongtong from DDE and it took 6 months to arrive.

    3. I'd definitely go with buying direct from the company (or their ebay store if I can find it). I'll typically only use a dealer if there's been known issues with a company (like when I bought an RD arm and they were having trouble getting stuff out in a timely manner), the company site is too difficiult to navigate (IS before they got an English website) or I'm buying multiple things from different companies and want to save a little on shipping (DZ doll, RD arm & Only-Doll shoes).

    4. I am the same way if I can get the doll directly from the company I do.

    5. Same here. I almost always order a doll/outfits directly from the company. The only exception is if the dealer has what I want in stock. For example, I bought my Aiden from Denver Doll, because they had one in stock with a faceup (and he was sold out in red at 5Star). Since he was in stock, I got him within two weeks. However, when I bought my other 5Star dolls, I got them directly from 5Star.

I guess I do have another exception, and that would be if I needed an extended layaway. I've been fortunate so far, though, in that I was able to pay in full for my dolls.

    6. For sure if there was a doll in stock at a dealer I'd go for that *grins*. I've also no problems with the 2nd hand market (probably 1/2 my dolls are previously loved). I know for sure that when I am able to order 2 of the doll on my buy list I'll need to go through the company site as one of them I want the company default face up and a pair of eyes they sell and the other will be a custom resin colour.

I've never done a layaway as I can see that being the path of evil for me *laughs*. My rule is that I must have cash in hand before hitting the buy button or it doesn't happen. Even given that I've still managed to somehow collect 27 of these little wallet vampires.

I'll probably get Dark with the default face-up, which looks very nice and if I decide on something more... exotic down the road, then I can send his head out for a new face-up and it's no biggie to me.

    7. Quick question guys. I was on the 5Star site mooning over the Dark sculpt and happened to scroll down and one of the questions posted at the bottom of the page was asking what wig size he takes. The answer given was that he wears a 7/8. The site measurements say his head is 22.5cm, which is 8.86" and would mean that he needs an 8/9 (unless you had a super stretchy 7/8). Which one is right?

I know that head sizes vary somewhat by company and I have dolls that take a much smaller wig than one of their size normally would (I'm looking at you OD with your size 5 head on an MSD body). The wig I want for this boy is a Happy Camille and will be a pre-order and likely take roughly 6 weeks to get to me once ordered, so I want to make sure that what I order is the correct size.

    8. Oh, he wears an 8-9 for sure, he has a big noggin.

Edit: I tired to get my Saints Monique 7-8 wig on him and it was a no go, it is way too small even with the stretch.
This is an 8-9 it fits wonderfully.

    9. Thanks for giving the 7/8 a try just to be sure. That's a really nice wig. I like the colours of it.

    10. Thanks, I really like it on him, found it on ebay searching SD multi-color wig.

    11. My kevin with a Monique gold wig I can force a 7/8 but it looks bad.. And I worry it'll break my wig. I have a 8/9 coming.. The wig that he got shipped with is too big for my liking.

    12. I would've loved to have gotten the rainbow wig I've seen but, even though I don't actually have the doll in-house, there was a very firm NO from his character when I danced that idea around *laughs*. He will have a multi-cloloured wig of sorts as it's the Phoenix wig he'll have, which is a red to blonde gradient wig that I'd adored when I first saw it and is so very fitting for the God of Primal Flames.

    13. I purchased a fur wig from etsy and I like it better then any other wig so far.[IMG]Untitled by me, on Flickr

    14. That wig looks fantastic, Reslie.

Well, I now have the arm for Saraf *yea!*. it's pretty awesome even if FL went super fiddly on the forearm/hand attachment *rolls eyes*. I've also got enough now to purchase Saraf (Dark sculpt). I emailed 5Star to ask for samples of their normal yellow, normal and grey resin and hopefully they'll send those out quickly so I can decide what colour to go with. I think I saw through this thread that they're a bit inconsistent with their colour. Is that right or am I totally mis-remembering? Also, does anyone have the grey resin? I can't remember seeing it unless it's one of those very light greys that could be mistaken for normal or even white.

And hopefully, everybody has seen that 5Star is having a summer event where if you reach a certain dollar value, you get a free doll, which is pretty darn cool. I think the even runs from the beginning of June to mid-July.

    15. Thanks Iron_Dog.

How do I measure the head opening to know what size neck the head can take? I have an extra 5Stardoll Kevin elf head that I am looking for a body for it when I measure the opening it measures 15mm.

    16. Hey guys, I just got the resin samples in from 5Star today. I wanted them to help make my decision on the colour for the Dark I intend to order in the not-so-distant future. He is going to have a FL event arm from 2010 and I wanted to know how close/far off the match would be if I went with their normal/yellow resin. The picture below is taken in natural light, no flash at roughly 5:30pm. I can't Photoshop my way out of a wet paperbag so I couldn't adjust the colours to show them true to life. However, the colour is only very slightly darker than it appears in real life.

The yellow and tan are very much within easy blushing range of the FL 2010 normal resin. In regular indoor light, the difference is hardly noticeable. It's more pronounced in natural light (of course). The white and light grey are much closer in colour than it appears in the photo, to the point where I'd say the light grey is sort of a "dirty white". The white is also brighter than shown in the photo.

They don't advertize the dark grey as an option on the site so I was surprised to get it in the package. I've got to say I'm having some serious loving for the dark grey and despite the yellow and tan being blushable range for the FL arm, I think I'm going to go with the dark grey. I don't know how much extra that would be and I assume I'd need to ask in an email for that colour since it's not offered as a standard colour. However, I assume since it was sent with the samples I asked for, it's not a custom colour and would maybe be in the same range as ordering tan.

    17. Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone have the 5SD jointed hands and could show me how they look on an actual body? Are they a better size match than the default hands? I've been really wanting jointed hands for my grey Tumnus and I'd like to put bigger hands on my Angelo so I'd love to know if those are any good. :)

    18. I would also like to know. The Dikadoll jointed hands I got for my Tumnus feel a bit too big,(they went to my Luts Senior Delf Boy)so it'd be nice to see if the jointed hands are better than the default baby hands.

    19. (Hello 5Stardoll owners! Kind of longtime lurker here, finally making my way to being active on the forum. :aninja: This thread is so helpful and has made me want to get one of the big boys even more! :love)

Tripling the hand question here! I'm hoping to get a 5Stardoll Dark or Bright (or both!) at some point and was very curious about the proportions of them! I can't seem to find anybody that actually has the hands though? Or any pictures to reference the size... I might finally shoot 5Stardoll a message and ask...

Also, this may or may not be a silly question, but does anybody have a review/overview on current SD boy body? I'd love to hear about the specifics of the articulation and posing ability!

    20. I can't contribute answers to anyone's questions. Just adding a pic of my sweet boy Genesis (aka Tumnus).
I enjoyed seeing so many great pics of Kevin. I'm seriously considering getting him at some point. I'm waiting for Denver Doll to tell me Becca is ready, so I can make her final payment before I consider another doll purchase.
