1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

a BJD in a MOVIE!

Apr 16, 2007

    1. I didn't see one in a movie but in a show i watch all the time on TV... I was not sure what kind of doll it was but it was a BJD i was unable to see the face of the doll, but it was sitting on Abbi's desk from NCIS one of the new episodes last week.

    2. The only movie I've seen with a BJD is Dollmaster, because that's the basis of the movie.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I'm actually very curious. In Big Bang Theory, when they go to the rennaissance fair Howard has a jester wand staff thing with a head on it. Everytime I look I swear to God it's a BJD head because it seriously looks like one. I asked a friend if I was crazy and she said it looked like one too. Whether it was or not is a mystery, but the style was similar.

    3. Oh, I watched that Cinderella movie the other day! For anyone that has netflix, it's up for instant streaming.

    4. You know... I've yet to actually notice them in any other movie aside from the doll specific movies like Doll Master. I'd like to see another movie like that one some time. I SO wanted them to come alive and start running around like Chuckie. I think I'd be even MORE inclined to buy one. IT'S ALIVVEEEE!!!

    5. isn't it strange that they only seem to be featured in the horror genre (excluding Death Note--though I suppose that's kind of debatable since it's still dark)?

I mean, I guess I don't have a problem with it since I do love me some scary movies. XD

Are there any English titles that feature BJDs?

    6. Not really. Fear of dolls is one of the most common phobia's, so movie makers play into that.

    7. I've always loved dolls, and friends I've had growing up shared this same love. In fact, while I've come accross people who may have felt that dolls were simply uninteresting when compared to, say, clothes and romance, I've never come accross somone who either hated or feared dolls, or both. In fact, I actually didn't realize that people could fear dolls until I became involved in BJD's. Even then, I had to read about the phobia in the forums, as I've had nothing but positive reactions to my BJD when I carry her out and about. I did finally learn that one of my husbands' nephews tends to have reservations about dolls who look like specific people, but that's mostly due to his associations with the idea of voodoo dolls, but that's the extent of my experience with people who can be afraid of dolls. So, for me, the idea that the fear of dolls is common is a surprising bit of information, but it certainly does explain why I seem to rarely encounter dolls outside of the horror genre.

I would so love to see a movie in which dolls, and BJD's, in particular, are portrayed in a positive light. In the supernatural doll stories thread, there are plenty of stories in which BJD's have served as very strong protectors against very dark, frightening entities. I'm thinking that would be a lovely basis for a movie plot, no? Anyone know if such movies actually exist?

    8. Okay I have a quick question. Is there any movie that BJDs have been showed in that wasnt horror? I have the Death Note live movies and saw them so I got that. Buuut I am just curious.

    9. I've collated most of the findings so far, just so the same movies etc. don't get posted over and over again. I thought it would be nice for people who post in the thread in the future to have a list to refer to so the content can be kept fresh from this point on! If anything is incorrect or I've missed something, let me know :3 I also added what sculpts we've been able to determine to some of the sources.

    10. Okay I haven't read this whole thread or anything but did anyone notice the table full of bjds and bjd parts in Kuroshitsuji in the.. like... last.... episode featuring enchanted dolls? :sweat
I was really excited when I saw them XD

EDIT! I think that commercial for eye drops that featured hundreds of minifees should be added to the list, just sayin' XD

    11. If you can find the commerical and link it, that would be cool : )

    12. Thanks for compiling this list, Enky.

I love NCIS, and especially Abby! Does anyone know which episode had the BJD?

    13. There are some Anime movies and series that feture BJDs. Of hand I can think of Rozen Maiden- which is an anime series about BJDs that come to life and fight with evil BJDs and also have a very Kawaii or "cute" home life.
There is Also Ghost in the shell : Innocence . Which is a movie about androids that look very much like Bjd's. More "adult" than Rozen Maiden but not in a sexy sort of way.

This is from Wikipedia (which was probably written by someone here :)

"Asian BJDs have been featured in movies and other works. The Korean horror movie Doll Master from 2004[27] and the Taiwanese drama film Spider Lilies from 2007 feature BJDs. The virtual band Mistula is composed of customized BJDs, Super Dollfie and Delf dolls. "

    14. Ok, ive looked EVERYWHER!!!
Is there is anywhere to find DollyVariety?
Its not on youtube or anywhere else, has anyone put it up somewhere else?

      Quick edit!!!!!!!
I was just watching an anime, it is a slightly adultish-eayh-dont-watch-it-if-under-17 anime, but It has a BJD in the frame for a second, I dont know if I am aloud to put the name on her, so tell me who I can ask if I am aloud to put the name>.<

    15. Don't know if someone mentioned this one yet, I know for a fact that there was BJDs in the Korean Drama, "Bad Guy".
One of the lead females collects them in the movie, and when I first saw them I flailed all over the place.

Oh! And another one, in the music video "Without A Heart", the girl actor, So Hee, carries around a BJD.

    16. Thank you for making this list! When asking about a BJDs in Media database, some of the forum moderators suggested that I try making one in their wiki. I was thinking that this would be a good idea. That way, no single person has to be responsible for keeping such a database up to date. People can just come and add things as they come accross them. Would you mind, too terribly, if this list is used as a starting point for that kind of a database in the wiki?

    17. Indeed it is, and I know that I know the mold...grr. I can't remember.

    18. Dead Silence, not exactly OUR type of dolls but still BJD in a way

sidenote: only horror movies have BJD´s in them
sidenote2: always a girl in a frilly dress has the BJD!!!
sidenote3: if the girl is singing a song.. gtfo and run!!!!!!

    19. Not in a movie/music video buuttt...

I guess this might not be too surprising :P I have issues of Animerica magazine from 2004 to about 2006 I think, and in the con reports where they document cosplay, there are pictures of cosplayers with BJDs :D I wonder if any go on the forums!

Also, I have an issue of Animerica which has a section that covers garage kits, figures, Paper Moon dolls and what not. There's a picture of a Dollfie Dream next to a bunch of Volks clothes for sale!

It's interesting thinking back on how I was in 4th/5th grade reading those magazines, had no clue about BJDs, and here I am! I distinctly remember the Dollfie Dream and Paper Moon dolls. I thought they were cool xP
