1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. I see what you mean. When I say "fat" I mean obese. I don't mean minorly overweight or curvy. 10 pounds overweight is not fat to me, maybe not 20 or even 30 depending on how big you are to begin with.

    2. I'd love to see a chubby adult or teen BJD. If the artist creates it well it would be beautiful. Sure!

I think the reason they don't exist is the same just skinny models work in fashion : commercial and "aesthetic" reasons.

I also would LOVE to see a BJD like Sophie Dahl or Christina Ricci, for example :)

    3. i know some one made a bottom heavy doll. and i mena really bottome heavy. shes so cute! she looks normal form the top and the htoighs and hips are huge!!! CUTIEE

    4. As of her post on 12-18-07 the artist hasn't abandoned the project... she hasn't gotten much done with her recently (she has a life! who can really blame her) but she is still working on her and, as far as I know, intends to cast and sell her eventually. I personally LOVE this doll and can't wait till she's cast :D

maybe it's just me... I think she's just absolutely gorgeous...

    5. Yes, I also thing she stunning. The body looks realistic for me. I hope she can finish it soon:)

    6. To enedving:

Your body size isn't the best indicator of health. You can be very skinny and have a high percentage of body fat. "Fat" people who work out can be healthier than skinny people who have no muscle and and are couch potaoes. If you are a bit overweight it is better to exercise and keep a consistant weight then to yo-yo diet. Your level of activity is more important than your body weight.

    7. I'm probably internalizing when I say.....ouch. :(

Some of the first sculptures of women were Earth Mother type women.

    8. I think I would create a chubby BJD if I ever got into sculpting. I think it'd be fun. I don't think it would necessarily have to be a doll covered in fat rolls, but just with a more realistic body type--Like a plus size model. ^__^
(( For example, a body like this girl ))
I would probably buy her if she existed, too.

    9. there was a similar discussion thread about realistic body types and i asked if anyone knew of any dolls that were 'voluptuous' but this was the closest anyone could offer:
      http://www.aoi-tuki.com/tukihime.html

sorry if this has already been mentioned/posted but i thought it was relevant.

as for chubby dolls, anthro ones are usually quite fat but then they're not exactly realistic.

      also, there's this thread:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200950&highlight=okja

anyway, i hope that was of any help. i'm on the look out for chubby dolls as well :)

      EDIT
after skimming through the posts in this thread, i've come to realise that some people don't like 'chubby' dolls.
before anyone decides they want to unleash some drama on me, i'll just clarify that the examples i've posted are 'the closest to a chubby or voluptuous doll' i could find.
      thankyoop!

    10. What about TinyBear's bonbon and coco??

    11. Okja is just gorgeous, I saw her about a month ago and loved the little belly and "muffine top"! I hop ethey do some different faces to go with the body.

Generally, I'd quite like a more curvier BJD, say with quite wide hips (although Peak's Woods' girlies have wide hips) and a cute little tummy, but I don't want an overweight BJD. I certainly wouldn't like a boy BJD with any extra weight on him. I don't have these predjudices in real life at all, just on the dollies!

I did find that my ED Sooah is quite thick-set and I really like that about her, she's a lot sturdier than my other girls, a bit more Amazonian and it's brilliant.

    12. I'm skinny as a rail, so I admire the shapeliness of my dolls...It's not like barbies, with gobs of makeup and ridiculous boobies. My dolls look like people would, in my opinion.

    13. I think it'd be nice to see dolls with thicker bodies. Or especially another choice in breast sizes; we basically only have the choice of B or D. I wouldn't go for an overweight doll though. It'd be difficult to find clothes and I personally wouldn't find it appealing. Not to mention I can't imagine it'd sell very well. And businesses are all about profit.

    14. tinybear has a pudgey tiny.

    15. I would dearly love some variety in BJD body shapes. I do not follow the idea that all fictional characters have to have so-called 'perfect' bodies. Most of my female characters are not scrawny little things. I have tall and curvy athletic ladies and short and stocky ones. I also have a male character who is heavyset. None of them will ever be accurately immortalized body-wise in doll form and I have accepted that. I doubt there will ever be a commercially available 'plus sized' SD size BJD, and even less likely a larger sized male!

The best one can hope for is a body that is not emaciated-looking (I hate bodies where you can see every rib.) with broad enough shoulders and hips. As for my guy... he'll just have to be thin in doll form and wear oversized robes. :|

    16. They're definitely not fat dolls, but my Soulkids are on the old style body and have really big bottoms :) Finding pants to fit is a bit of a nightmare sometimes.

Tinybear has CoCo and BonBon and Domadoll makes Okja. While I adore the BonBon and CoCo facial sculpts and think it's refreshing to see dolls of all shapes and sizes, I think one of the reasons most BJDs are thinner (apart from the Asian aesthetic point of view) is because movement and poseability isn't affected. With a wider doll I can't help thinking that their poseability isn't going to be so great, they won't be able to reach around themselves and it could be harder to get them to sit and stand the way you want, but I could be wrong.

I do love Okja and I don't consider her to be fat, but I think she has a lovely curvy body.

    17. I want my men to be buff, dangit!
Not quite on the exact subject since I can't say I'd be up for a "chubbier" doll (besides a chubby tiny. THOSE are ADORABLE) but I really do like my boys to be "healthy" looking. And by healthy I mean "pumps-iron-every-day" healthy.

The thin lithe boy aesthetic is cute, but I prefer some heft X3

My poor Cain is waif-ish next to my buff elf O_O

    18. As far as I'm concerned, the thing about BJD's that attracts people is their unnatural beauty, so them having a perfect body is understandable.

    19. I just think it's a little weird that alot of people can't accept/acknowledge that there are other people out in the world that think a pudgy, chubbier body ( either male or female ) is a perfect body. O.o; Personally I love thin and athletic bodies for my dolls as well, but hey, I think a tubby boy would be just as cute.
