A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. Well, I have to say, it is a little annoying that you get so many threads started like "realistic or perfect" or whatever, I mean one thread is enough, but there seem to be a few.
Fact is... if you dont like the dolls the way they are, why buy them if you KNOW you would prefer a bigger one?
Furthermore, it'd be a little impractical to have a large doll as the SD's already weigh a TON and you'd have to pay more to buy one.
Also arnt they supposed to be moddles of, like asian people? Like arnt they supposed to be from asia if they had a nationality?
If so... then, I dont really know any big asian people, I know there are big asian people but its not really in their genetic coding to be big people.
I understand how it can be frustrating to PadriacSleeps because I'm not big in any way, I'm naturally 'skinny' because my metabolism is ridiculously fast.
And yeah littlepinkfaery is also right, skinny people do get stick. ALOT of stick! Being too thin IS recognised AND RIDICULED by scociety, just not in the media! Alot of things about this subject annoy me but I bite my toungue on it.
I was made fun of SO much because I was small and "skinny", my clothes/uniform were always too big for me because I was so used to being put into boys clothes when I was younger, I looked even SMALLER!
And I was TERRORISED for it... so yeah, Small people also get as much hasstle for being small just like bigger people do!
ANYWAYS! At the end of the day, it's what people want! If you want a "perfect", "fat" or "ANOREXIC" doll! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

    2. i think they wouldn't make the belly out of resin.. Because like someone else said problem with posing etc. they might make it out of a pokeable material. ( like those sticky on bras with no straps. That material.. also it would definitely be difficult to find clothes for it like someone else said.. I would feel too bad for it- my brother is morbidly obese and I feel horrible when he recounts the days of his youth (back when he was skinny). I would hate to have a doll like that because it would remind me of his situation all the time.. and how he does nothing to help himself even when I would try to support him.

I think another reason why they haven't made it, is the Gothic lolita concept. Be pretty as a doll? (right, or am I mistaken?) Even though I would hate to own a doll like that, I know someone else would love one. I don't have to buy it, but I think they should be made..And maybe not too chubby like a little ..*hm english translation for the word I thought of* Pouch? not beer belly but semi? oh wait i think we have dolls like that.. except they are more yo sd size.. ( like baby fat)

    3. Could we please stick to talking about dolls?

      Dustbunnie

    4. me and you should take a stroll the big girl and the little girl- WITH our dolls and hold our heads up high! :)

      xx

But back on dolls- I have bonbon and adore her! i think the point is we can find things aesthetically beautiful, I am a big girl but my' skinny' dolls are beautiful, I am sure I will adore my skinny mecha angel on layaway, and I love my hubby's Soony's big butt! I love his Model dolls overly long legs and I love my chubby tinies.

Dolls are beautiful- like people :) But like people, we don't find them all attractive, but should be able to recognise their qualities :)

    5. We ARE talking about dolls! But at the same time we're using our personal experiances as EXAMPLES to express our opinion about the said topic.

    6. sorry duble post

    7. Next meet, DEFINATLY ;)

      xxx

    8. I wouldn't want a fat dollfie.

I know everyone on here is talking about how they'd like a chubbier doll, so it'd look more like they do-- but I'm NATURALLY built like a Lishe (so all of you people out there saying [or thinking] that *real* women don't look like that, does that make me some sort of plastic doll? I'm a 38-28-36, so it's not like people can't be natural built like this, it's just rare and hard to maintain.. and find clothes.. and bras..). I'm a real woman too. I eat. I attend college. I have a job. I think that makes me pretty real. And I enjoy dolls who look like me, just like some of you would enjoy having dolls that look like you.

Edit: I was not implying that everyone that wants a fat doll is fat -- I was replying to the literally hundreds of posts of people saying 'I'm chubby and I would love to have a chubby doll!'. So anyone not in that catagory, ignore my post. :)

    9. I'd like to add onto this, that not every person in this thread who would like a fat doll is fat. I am of normal size and tall height. I wear size 2 pants, and I love fat boys. There is nothing in conjunction to my own acceptance desires that makes me want a doll "Like me." It is solely because I like large boys, and love the idea of a chubby doll.

So, just for the record, not everyone on here that wants a fat doll is fat.

So no, this isn't any "fat pride bullshit." Talk about put downs though; see it from the admirer's point of view. Not only do these 'fat pride' persons hate us because we 'desire' a larger person instead of accept them for 'who they are' we also get the crap from everyone else that thinks, it's unhealthy, it's bad, it's not acceptable, ect. So are the countless suicidal dolls people have, but that is a desired trait. Or ones that appear to be Nymphomaniacs that many swoon over.

It's all the same, just from different views. Granted, I love the types of characters for all of the above, but hey, that's just me.

Judging by the responses, I have to say that I feel too many people take the 'fat doll' idea as a personal offense. Those that oppose it get bombarded by others who think that it is a personal attack on them, and those that think the idea is a personal attack because it is not 'socially acceptable' or have had personal experience in this state and would not like to contribute to it. I respect that, but at the same time I wish people would respect that I do not have to abide by this social sect of rules or expectations.

I cannot honestly think of anything more rewarding than playing my young chubby character/doll. A person that is often times brushed passed because of weight alone, but gets under people's skin more times than anything else I've ever played. Being someone that has a 'fat doll' I can say that it really does take some lower extremities to stick with it and push aside the hate mail and have a character like mine. I am confident that others who do, or have done so before can concur, it's hard, and the group segregation is intense. But, you gotta see past it and focus on the most important things, it's yours, you bought it, made it, you love it. That's what really counts in the end.

    10.
    11. I think some of you are talking about some kind of extreme esthetics: fat or skinny.
In fact there are skinny dolls (just comes to my mind the Dollzone MSD girls for example) but there are not girl dolls with nice hips and a little "spare tyre" there in their bellies. I am not talking about "fat" dolls, but someone with a sexy curved body, beautiful fleshy legs, well-formed waist and interesting arms. A cute combination of a Mediterranean girl together with a Asian style for dolls.

Just the same with the boys. It is extremely hard to find boys not skinny or too femenine, and I reffering their bodies and faces too. What if I want to have a man doll? It is not easy, I would have few options to choose one.

I would like to have more options when I look for a doll, and I do think that when the new non-asian artists will start to make their own dolls selling to the whole world we will be able to enjoy a more variety of esthetics. At least I wish that ^^

    12. i totally agree with this statement. it's true. think Unidoll's Ark is the most manly (albeit ugly, BUT I LOVE HIM! :D ) man-doll there is. i'm sure plenty of people will be quick to jump in and correct me, go ahead, i'd love to see some more manly dolls.

at the end of the day, the doll companies make what the majority wants. if you want something out of the ordinary, you're gonna have to pay more for it

this is a bit OT, but it's related: when i go out to buy trousers, i have to search real hard and pay way above average prices, because i have stupidly long legs. it's the same with dolls.

if you want a doll that is different (whether it be modding it to look different or buying really really expensive clothes or an unusual and rare body sculpt) you still have to pay more money. dolls are expensive enough without adding more on top. maybe the companies are afraid of not making enough money if they start selling 'human'-looking dolls.

    13. I suggest you try and find Domadoll's Okja and Okki :) They have a cute belly roll and chunky thighs. Their bodies are not the 'perfection' of a CP Lishe, but they are perfect in their own way. Those dolls have stylised Asian faces, but they do have 'junk in their trunks'!

I like that most dolls are standard shapes. I didn't get my dolls because I wanted to mirror humanity and have a range of shapes and sizes. Even though Gwen is female and Zee is male, they can pretty much swap clothes. I love this because it means I can double up my clothing collection for each.

I am having a nightmare with my poor Cynthia because a lot of the SD clothes I bought her are too large in the waist and shoulders or too small in the hips :doh She is a very bizarre size. As much as I love making doll clothes, I find that it is very time consuming and I don't want to be making everything. Sometimes it's nice to get stuff off the rack and with odd-sized dolls you just can't do that.

    14. I know its possible to make a body suit for your doll (my mate did) and it make her SD have a cute rounder belly and a bit more ' junk in his trunk'. It was also cool because it was squishy (being made of sock). However I imagine she can't take consistent photos when he's topless , open shirt etc.

    15. I think a fat doll would be too expensive to produce because of the extra resin.

      thats why they're not made.

      too expensive.

    16. I've seen a few chubby ones but they're usually the small children one and it looks more like baby fat ^^
I think there aren't any that are fat both because it's visibly not appealing to a large group of people (deep down, all BJD creators want to make money :< so...if only like 100 people will buy them and the rest of the BJD people won't like them...then there's no point in making it) and it requires more resin which is expensive and I think even harder to work with xD

    17. I disagree. They are not made because they are less appealing than slim dolls. The resin itself, or its price, has little to do with it. ~Gus

    18. I second that. I have such a hard time finding manly dolls in the 60 cm scale. So many of them look like little boys, and that's not what I'm after. At the same time, it seems like most of the older-looking guys are only made in the 70 cm size, which makes me crazy because I really really don't want a doll that big.

I love Dollzone Yuu, for instance (the tanned silver fox Yuu is really handsome), but he's just too big.

When I got my Elfdoll Red almost two years ago, he was about the manliest doll I could find, and he still looks pretty young.

    19. I believe all the "older" ones are skinny. Many dolls made to look like infants, and some child dolls, are chubby, as in a young child that is seen as cuter, but the teenager and adult dolls are all skinny.

    20. Certainly, there is a niche market for fuller bodied dolls. Personally I'm not interested, I like skinny waifs. Whether companies should or shouldn't cater to the niche market is up to the sculptors I guess. If a doll with more to love isn't what a doll sculptor envisions for his/her dolls, you can't very well demand it out of him/her.
I do love that tinybear was gutsy enough to give making a bigger doll a go, and with success :)
