1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. I would love love love a cubby doll! That would be adorable

    2. Haha! COMPLETELY AGREE!

And as for chubby doll, I hear Naiara's working on one.. :)

    3. I'm on the slim side I suppose- my clothing size is still a single digit in the Junior's section- but the point here is that I don't want a chubbier doll- mostly in agreement with what Sher said- My doll is going to be an ideal- not one humanly possible to live up to (so he's not going to be human at all ^^) and I want that- I want to have people go 'wow! what an ethereal doll!" Not "Wow..that's a realistically sized doll you have there.." I do not mean to offend anyone- as I am a newb please completely disregard my comments if they offend- it's not meant to be taken that way ^.^'

    4. I dont think alot of people would buy them if they weere fat or chubby. first of all, you would have to get them special clothes.

    5. ....I have to get ALL my dolls special clothes...

    6. *laughs* I know the feeling at least a little bit. If you like a doll you like a doll, and if that means having to deal with a short torso, long legs, skinny hips, big bust, thick waist... I can tell that there are a lot of people in this thread that don't see clothes as an obstacle to getting the desired look they want. Companies are coming out with dolls in all sorts of shapes and sizes and seamstresses and designers eventually catch up. That, or people just sew their own stuff.

    7. HOLY MOLEY. I had never seen the Iplehouse elder body before....I don't usually like muscley guys, but.....wowwwwww. I want that, big time!!!! HUBBA HUBBA!!

    8. Well, I just wanted to stop back in on this thread and say that I have finally gotten my SD13 a paunch like I said I would.

Here are a few pics of it. My fat little dollfie: The Souldoll Soo-Hyun -Fat- Mod.

He doesn't quite look that big in the photos, but he's chunky enough that I can't close the clasp on his tummy. >,<; So I think he's a bit of a fatty. In comparison to other dolls at least.

    9. I really wouldnt mind a plus sized doll....

    10. Chocobochaos that's so awesome! Was it hard to do? I'd love to see a nude shot :love

    11. As a fat woman, I wouldn't mind having a doll (or several) who was more realistically made. Perhaps not a fat doll, but one who had a big butt and a belly and larger boobs would be lovely. A doll with real curves, in other words! Women are normally shaped a certain way, and the only problem I have with girl dolls right now is how flat the bellies are. No matter how slim she be, all women have a little belly, which is how it's supposed to be. The only woman in real life I know who has a flat tummy is my best friend's little sister, she's all muscle because she's in the army. XD

That having been said, I don't mind that my girl dolls with be skinny. If I was skinnier (not stick thin but a healthier weight) I would jump on some of the outfits my girlies are gonna get to wear. Don't get me wrong, I can be sexy at my current weight when I want to, it's just harder to find the really sexy outfits. XD If I were even two sizes smaller it would be much easier for me to find some really awesome outfits. ;D

    12. I suspect the flat tummies have something to do with the first BJDs being SD and SD13 who are supposedly 10 and 13 years old, respectively- before puberty most girls don't have the same kind of tummy that grown women have. Though a lot of dolls are "played" as older characters the sculptors still must have had a child/adolescent in mind when sculpting. I guess other companies sort of followed the trend when they were making their own dolls, even if they're not meant to be child dolls.

Personally I wouldn't mind a little tummy on mature female dolls, most women do have them unless they're very skinny or very athletic, it's part of the adult female figure!

    13. That does make sense. And yes indeed, it's part of the figure. I knew a very slim soprano at school who had the most adorable tummy ever. Seriously. XD I didn't find any part of her attractive except that little curve of tummy. I had to remind myself not to stare every time I saw her, and I knew she would be offended if I complimented her on it, so I never did. But what an adorable tummy! X3

    14. I'd strongly recommend checking out the sculpting going on in the Artists Asian-Styled BJD forum. :) There's some beautiful and FAR more realistic sculpts being worked on in there--I'll post links to some of the more recent ones in a moment.

Gal with lovely curves can be found here...
... an ADORABLE little Troll Warlock...
... and some really pudgy little minis that are just as cute as their names suggest. ^.^
(I think the Tinybear dolls in the last post were already mentioned, but take a look anyway!)

There are many other dolls in the Artist forum that are more realistic, mature, and womanly--it's something a lot of the creators are going for, simply because it hasn't been done and, honestly, needs to be. ^.^ These dolls are a reflection of ourselves--so why can't they share ALL of our crazy, out-there flaws? :)

    15. Thanks for the awesome links, muse!!

This is really a sign that it is not impossible to cast such a doll. I hope that someday such artist dolls will be available for sale, or that dollmakers will pick up on the need for individual, unique dolls. There are many doll sculpts out there that are very unique and may have a small demographic they are targeted at, yet sell well. I think this one is no different.

    16. Those are all lovely! <3 I especially love the big-bottomed, small-busted girl, as I fit that description (not quite like that, my bust isn't quite as small and my bottom is based more in my thighs, but still). I think I might have to get one of those Tiny fairies! X3

I'm hoping that in a few years (or at most a decade) the doll companies will try some more realistic dolls, perhaps as a Limited first, and then more regularly if there's enough demand. <3 Those fairies are a definite step in the right direction.

    17. I'd like an MSD size, that was broader in the chest and shoulders. He doesn't have to be super limber, he wields a hammer for a living! He's a blacksmith in the days when it was ALL done by hand. I found a good face for him but all the doll bodies are so waif-like..... sigh:(

    18. That would be lovely. Now that Iplehouse has come out with the Superhero body, there needs to be a comparable body for MSD sized dolls, I think. I was thrilled about the Superhero for me because I wanted a 70 cm who's muscular for my Giant Scottish Werewolf character. XD But for those who want smaller but still muscular dolls, well... I think with that the thinking is that MSD size dolls are younger dolls, so they don't think of a younger person being muscular.

    19. Yeah, I've serious space and financial restrictions so the smaller dolls are the way to go... hubby already thinks I take up too much of the house with all my other hobbies!:sweat

    20. I'm actually quite an avid 'Fat Admirer' so the body construction was quite easy. It was based after my own artwork and some pictures from a couple weight loss commercials. <<; I'm having a terrible time trying to get his resin matched with the paint however. So short of that, he's been quite simple to do. I'll post some pics up of his belly once his color is completed. Thanks for the interest! ^____^
