A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. I completely loved Isenn's comment and totally agree w/ disco biscuit. Looking back at my problems w/ my eating disorder, it was never about how the people in magazines or Barbie looked.

Back to dolls, I would love to have a SD girl with more curves. Not because it would make me feel better about myself. I think women are attractive skinny or with curves. Though with my dolly boys I like them skinny, where as IRL I would prefer some padding because they're comfier to cuddle that way.

    2. I love large bodies, I draw them all the time. I think that fat is absolutely beautiful, and I want to show off what a beautiful thing I think it can really be. I had wanted to work up a fat mod for the longest time for one of my boys, but I was scared about ruining them, making them unable to stand, and the issues about size.

I just finished my "OMG it's such a pretty body to screw up" faze and have finished for the time being (Still needs to be buffed out and painted) My WIP chubby mod on my Souldoll Double Body 63cm Soo-Hyun boy. He stands just fine, he looks proportionate (Especially since souldoll has the biggest rear end and thighs I've ever seen), and he still wears roughly the same size as before (Just needs looser shirts/stretchier shirts to wrap around his tummy).

      He looks like an average male- no distorted shape in his form, just packing a bit around the middle. - Maybe in real life like a freshman 20-30lbs or something. He is not painted yet, so the skin does not match. I had a hard time with this project though- it's been almost 2 years in the making, and finally just of recent did I get the gall to face the facts and cover up that sleek belly which looks nothing like the character he was purchased to be. >,<;

I had tried everything- clay cast for his midsection, so that I didn't ruin his sexy little belly- but it weighed far too much for him to stand without knocking forward. Now he has a "La Doll" clay belly on his actual mold piece. It worked better than anything else- since it's light enough to keep him from being off balanced. There's still a lot to be done- I know, but this is my first mod - ever, to a doll using clay/epoxy/etc. Please enjoy. ^____^

    3. Ah, that's so cute! I completely forgot about this thread and that reminds me that I should probably post up some photos of my Fyedka's belly mod xD After all the pain I put his poor customizer through I think it deserves to be shown off!

It's so wonderful to see there are others who not only agree and support the idea of more diverse BJD bodies, but are also working toward making that a reality :)

    4. Aww! Chocobo, he really did turn out nice! I can't wait to see him painted.

    5. LOVE IT!!!

      I can't wait to see more! :)

    6. I have never seen a fat dollfie either o.O
But I actually like the really skinny ones the best anyways. :P

    7. Chocobochaos: your mods look great~ looks like hard work *_*

hrm...well not exactly 'fat' but a 'pear shaped body?' I think I've seen something like that before done by Leekworld? I can't stand when companies make their dolls TOO skinny...and I think that it's really cute!

    8. there is an OLD volks SD10 girl body that is kinda chubby (i think its oldskin).
she have chubby arms and legs, small breast, I LOVE IT! seriously love that body ^^ its adorable.
its really not THAT fat, but still more than what we are used to see for dolls. we all noticed it at the meet :'P

http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...nted-to-know-about-SD10-bodies&highlight=sd10 list of SD10 body. swarrico is a bit chunbby too ^^

    9. Interesting question! I had never thought of that before! I think a fat dollfie would look rather cherub/angel like, which would be kinda cute!

    10. There was a girl on The Joint forum that was making a girl with a bit of belly and junk in the trunk. She was absolutely gorgeous.

I agree that a more pear shaped figure girl would be absolutely wonderful to have but I think the market for it would be fairly small.

Another point is that the chubby dolls are mostly young. I want a mature girl.

    11. I think the people who came up with the idea of these dolls meant to put their ideals of human features into inanimate figures, so I assume that's why there aren't any bigger dolls out there. I have a Japanese friend who is a bit bigger than most, and she feels totally self-conscious about it since most of her friends back home in Japan are tinier, and she, therefore is not the "ideal" body type. I think this kind of cultural mindset is why the doll companies in general simply go with what is more aesthetically pleasing to the ideals that are influenced by culture. (Yikes, I think this was just complete random rambling!).

    12. Chocobochaos, I love it!

Does he have a muffin top from the back? because that would just be love:D

    13. Peronally, I'd love a doll with a more realistic, or a cute chubby figure. I mean, I adore the dolls i have, but, a doll with a more plump form, like this; http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3160/2958945363_688bf7e24d.jpg

I think theyre really adorable, and a doll like that would be so cute~ I mean, i wouldnt find a morbidly obese, as in, completley unhealthy kind of look attractive, but, with an adorable, bigger form would be very cute, I'd buy a doll like that in a second, theyd look just so huggable and sweet.
Chubby fat dollies are definitely cute and hot! :3

    14. Iple House dolls have curves... O_O But ABJD is all about fashion statements and joints joints joints. You can't pose dolls that are too thick/fat. >.>

    15. Hmm... tbh I don't think a BJD carrying a lot of extra weight would work :XD: Resin is heavy... and as fransyung points out, it could affect the smooth working of the joints. Personally, I've never seen a female doll that I think is presenting a negative body image, ie anorexically thin, the girls tend to be pretty well proportioned and the thinner ones are naturally slender, and more like an Asian physique. Many child-like dolls as others have pointed out tend to be quite naturally chubby for their ages, the Leeke D body and Dollstown 5yr come to mind.

If I want a chubby, cuddly doll, I'll make myself a plushie!! ;)

    16. I love that Iplehouse Elders have a bit more meat on their bones, but in general ABJD are dangerously thin and even the ones referred as chubby are usually closer to normal in human standards, but the beauty ideals for dolls are harsher for dolls than humans. Dolls can be what we are not and that's part of their attraction - at least for me. ;)

However, there is a one properly plus size resin BJD out there, but it's not Asian BJD: The Beth Ditto doll. She was 2009 artist doll from Superfrock in UK. Here are two links to articles about her:

      http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/daily/090423-beth-ditto-evans-doll.aspx

    17. The Beth Ditto doll looks alright actually. That said, we would only be deluding ourselves if we said that Beth Ditto's weight is healthier and more positive than the human equivalent of, say, an EID woman...

    18. True. But there are dolls who's human equivalents would be long dead with anorexia. I mean EID ladies are rather hefty for dolls and that's one reason they are so special and lovely. I wouldn't want a Bet Ditto doll myself ( I only have to look in a mirror LOL), but since weight s is a touchy subject for many, including myself, I don't really want to go into it more. ;)

Chocobochaos: I love your mod. My hubby has just this sort of a cute pot belly on a skinny body! :D

    19. Alba Garcia has a really curvy bjd - she's not on topic for this forum, but you can check her out here. (ETA: nude doll warning! Clothed shots are here) So they do exist - they're just rare!

    20. Elfdoll are looking at doing a voluptuous girl.
I wouldn't say fat, but the closest I have seen.
