I'm planning to plump up my other two dolls, to get a better grasp on the method and science and also try different types of body fat accumulations and sizes.

To answer your question Twiggy, he does have a muffin top from the back, his haunches are pudgy enough that they actually look like they 'pooch' a bit when he wears firmer pants. I hope once he's painted that it will show up better. ^___^ Once done, I'll get more picture of him, next time outside. XDDD All the pics were indoors. XP

Interesting thought! I've always wondered why all the dolls are made in a "perfect figure". There aren't any dolls with non-perfect bodies (e.g flat chested girls, short legs, extremely thin, fat, etc.) @_@

 

I don't believe you've seen all the dolls there is out there. Zaolls (@ Dollmore) have much shorter legs than the average SD sized girl, Spiritdoll and other companies have seperate (big or small) breast torso pieces to switch out the normal chest with. Fairyland has an a la carte system that lets you choose the bust size you want.
Some companies sculpt their bodies to be thinner and some are thicker.
I'd do some research before making sweeping generalizations.

I just got a body for a character very dear to my heart. He is ripped as all heck and let me tell you, it's disheartening. My girlfriend and I were staring at him after we strung him together, and wondering if we very new doll owners were brave enough to order some apoxie and cover up his ribs and toned stomach. She even suggested that we give him the pot belly he deserves! I love him anyway, and he'll have clothes to cover up his trim, buff body, but the temptation of modding him chubby is pulling at me. Yes, I want my dolls to be perfect, but perfect does not mean trim and and muscular to me. I love a soft body.

In the future, my girlfriend and I want to make a certain series out of bjds and with our favorite character being obese and several other characters being slightly chubby, and just because we don't want them all to look the same, I can tell you we are going to be having A LOT of fun covering up their natural bodies.

A far more likely change to the future of bjds, is a request for all around thicker bodies. Just something a little manlier? Someday... (:

Aside from fat, my next boy is supposed to be a soft, somewhat feminine boy. It boggles me that so many people have really feminine boys, but still show off those six packs they have? My boy will be covered up! I'll have to smooth out those pecks and stomach.

I don't think I've ever seen a doll that was factory made with a little 'junk' in their trunk or body in general; but Chococochaos, your doll is darling!

 

I think (and I'm not the person quoted, so they may have meant something else), that those aren't necessarily imperfections though, they're just slightly different variations along the normal point. A doll with larger or smaller breasts strikes me as still being in line with socially acceptable body images - if the doll came with an option for drooping or wrinkled breasts, that would be different enough to not be looked at as another image of perfection.

A fat doll (and I'm thinking here of one that could represent an obese character, not just one with a little extra "junk in the trunk") would be interesting both because it would stand out visually from the dolls who line up closer to the norm (be they slim or curvy or muscled) and because it would carry a certain social weight. In the same way, I love that there are as many doll options for scars and mechanical parts around as there are and that these are seen as attractive things. Those strikes me as being subversive (for want of a better word) in the same way that a fat doll would be: In real life, people with facial scars or prosthetics aren't always treated very well by society at large, so for the same thing to be "cool" in a doll is pretty awesome at a social level. A fat doll might have the same kind of effect.

Plus it would be fun to create new patterns for clothes to fit its body!

Hot DANG now that's what we need! Wowzah, that's a WOMAN. I would love to see representation of that body type, not slender but still fit and curvy and feminine. I think the more body types we can mod or sculpt into this hobby the better, though personally I prefer healthy bodies, so nothing too obese or morbidly thin. Even very thin or rather hefty people have a look to them when you can tell it's just their body type but they are healthy. It's a muscle/bone ratio that's hard to pin down, but I learned to see it once i started studying a lot from nude models in art and got to compare a lot of body variations.

Well, as the last chubby doll to be posted here was so well recieved, I'd thought I share my own tubster, Fyedka He was given his potbelly about a year and a half ago and as he has a more childlike body which is already somewhat pudgy looking his mods weren't overly extensive (well, I'm sure his customizer would disagree, but what I meant is that there was no need to add to his back or chest). His extra tummy doesn't really make him any more difficult to pose and whatnot, though it certainly makes him extra cute

 

this caught my attention cause i realized this too xD i'll look at the links posted when i get on a comp. I think also there's not many big dolls because dolls are kind like what the owner wants to be or like their little perfect child.

 

InkyBear, He's adorable! I'd love to have a girl doll with a little pot belly like that, cos in real life even skinny people don't always have flat stomachs.

My dear Fawn, an Aoi Tuki hybrid, is the ultimate sexy girl at home; with all the respects to my dear supias, delfs and supergem girls, she is simply the definition of femenine and sexy (and my boyfriend agrees!). I wouldn't mind if she were even larger; i wish we could have more options. BUt by the time I wanted to create a super-sexy girl, all voluptous and tempting ala Frank Frazztta style, I looked for a body that were not the current prototype of ''perfect''. I am so happy that the Aoi tukis exist! i own of them, and I think they are lovely.

I mind most of the girl sculpts I find because they are too skinny. I'm not against skinny dolls, but as for some of them, when they're turned sideways and the middle seems to vanish..... Thats too much. I don't like the Iple girls, they have that very-tiny-waist thing going on and that's just icky. I know I was on another forum and someone posted about the newest DOD girl and there was a sideways shot where I really did have to SQUINT to find the dolls torso!

I wish, just for a minute, someone would make a female figure that looks FEMALE and not skinny. When I can see ribs, that is skinny. When they vanish when turned sideways, that is skinny. -_- The trend on skinny girls is making me insane, because I can't find what fits what I need in a doll.

Skinny guys are fine, I know a lot of those, but I don't know any skinny girls that vanish like that at certain angles, its just icky.
