A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. :doh Of course! It all makes sense now...

    2. More chubby molds would be nice, especialy little chubby kids or curvier female bjds.

    3. Yeah, I guess they probably would. =D It might look a lot more like knock-offs if they had the same measurement... What a different world it'd be.

    4. Though both my boys are different sizes, they're from the same company, and I hope to get all my dolls from Luts, mostly for the fact that if I have a few delfs, and a couple of kid delfs, I know their clothes will fit them all. I personaly wouldn't buy a bjd that was made heavier set, but just for the astetic, it'd be pretty cool if someone did make one.

I might just be biased though, since I'm only 10 lbs away from being underweight (I used to be a ballet dancer) but since I sew all my doll clothes myself, I love having perfect bodies to model the clothing on. And I've seen a male doll that had FAR too skinny arms and legs compaired to a delf boy, who by association looked pretty meaty. The skinny doll almost looked comical in it's tiny-ness, and that's something I would never buy.

And in the other scense, Iplehouse girls already has a much fuller bodies than me by scale. T_T Those girls got some junk in their trunk! XD So I couldn't see myself even getting one of them. I guess in other words I'm fine with the doll sizes they have now, but a chubbie bjd would be cool to see. ^_^

    5. I would actually love a larger sized doll, though it would still have to be in proportion - so a curvy size 16 (UK) but with the hourglass shape and large boobs and butt, rather than the weight being in the form of a pot belly lol. Kinda like the larger size model here (warning, lingerie catalogue link) http://howcool.com/popup-images/LA-81201Q.jpg

    6. LMAO I loved this lol

    7. Its probably the same reason that most anime and game characters have nice bodies... because there's a market for it. There's a very slim market for people who enjoy larger bodies and so companies probably don't make any molds because they don't think they'd sell.

I also think it would probably be harder to get a doll to stand if it was heaveier set.

    8. Ooh. I would actually want to purchase a fat dollfie. It would be so cute and definitely something different. It's like when we had Barbies as kids. They had the perfect face and the perfect body but now Mattel's toned it down a bit. I miss the old Barbies though. I'm not saying they should work on making BJDs more realistic or anything but it would be nice to see a variety and a fat dollfie would actually be great! I love Iplehouse's Jessica because although she's got a bootylicious body, she's not stick thin and I love that.

    9. ??? Skinny boys are OK but not skinny girls? I know plenty of women who are as slim as my SD girl and they are NOT starving themselves. I mean their breasts don't point to the sky the way most dolls do (gravity is our reality) but the general waist size and thigh size are similar.

Also all this talk about a "woman's" body and implications that thin bodies are not womanly is just kind of...well...impolite. We come in all shapes and sizes I think that is the point. Thin bodies are not "icky". Some of people are just kind of thin.

As for the dolls well, yea it would be cool to have some different doll sizes out there for people to play with. I am sure it would be great for creativity and customization. However I do think it would take some challenging craftsmanship to make a chubby doll work as a BJD. Looking at my dolls now I can imagine that limbs folding back on themselves with extra padding might need some special attention to remain flexible for posing. I guess it depends on how much weight you want to put on a doll.

    10. cocos are fat fairies, and I love em' ^_^
I'll admit that many dolls are very stylized, but no where near realistic.
They're proportions are more geared towards aesthetics, not realism or some human ideal!

The human body isn't anywhere near perfect or even symmetrical for most people, much less made from the same mold.
body-types are many, like pear and apple and hourglass. normally dolls I see are hourglass-shaped, and I kind of miss wispy thin ones (naturally thin, not starving) and heavy pear-shaped ladies, and guys who have woman-butts and stuff.

    11. ooohh very pretty! I would buy a doll with similar proportions >.>

    12. not that I have seen but i would love to see a thick girl :)!

    13. I would love to see some plus sized BJD's frankly. That would be nice to have a nice curvy lady <3

    14. I'm not sure if the title is very good for this subject, so let me explain my thoughts:

It seems everywhere I look, there are long, skinny dolls, some with extremely disproportionate breasts. Okay, I do see /some/ beefy men who look healthy but why do so many dolls play on the 'thin' side, even showing ribs and hip bones that would not be exposed on a healthy person? Do we like this or is this simply another way the media has manipulated us?

I've been trying terribly hard to find a doll type that was heavy set, because I think having big hips, legs, and butt can look really good! But there is literally no market for this unless you look for a little known bjd artist who isn't mainstream.

So I guess what I'm asking is:
Would you want a "big" doll?
Have you seen any, and where?

I am currently sculpting a big doll in MSD size for myself, so I would also like to know:
What are the most beautiful aspects of a large woman to you?

Sorry if this seems offensive to anyone! ^ ^;; But I think this could be a very interesting and insightful topic!

    15. I've always been a believer that size isn't what makes women and men beautiful. Beyond the whole "inner beauty" spiel, which doesn't really apply to sculpted hunks of resin, I find that it's more a "total package" kind of thing for me. While I find myself gravitating towards slim dolls with moderately large breasts most of the time, the face means a lot more to me than the body.

As for real life, two of the most beautiful people I know are not what society, at its extreme, would deign as "attractive": they're both curvy women with dark hair and light skin... and frankly, I'll take them over a skinny girl any day. <3

As for a curvier BJD, I imagine the physics of it might be challenging from a sculptor's standpoint, and the amount of resin needed would probably increase the price a bit. Still, if it was a well-made, well-done sculpt and I liked it enough, I would probably buy it.

I can't say that I've seen many 'big' BJDs out there, though I do hope you'll post pictures of yours when she's done!

The most beautiful aspects of larger women is really dependent on the woman for me, but overall, I'm drawn to full lips and well-defined eyes. General shape is also important, as is proportion. And then, lastly... Hands and feet. I'm a sucker for well-done, nicely-detailed feet and hands on any sculpt.

    16. Of the top of my head:

Aoi Tuki (more than one body type) - http://www.aoi-tuki.com/
Sharmistha: http://yuusuisdollworkshop.wordpress.com/ (not 100% sure she is on topic but I think at least the body is?)

And the Iplehouse SID/EID girls are certainly not skinny. ;) Dollmore's Glamor Eve dolls, and Volks Dollfie Dream Dynamite, also have some serious curves including hips and rear, but their figures are rather stylized with small waists.

      I like the idea of fuller figured dolls, but the main reason I would hesitate is because they are so much harder to find clothes for and I love to dress up my girls. ^^;

As for the skinny-with-big-boobs thing, I do see that sometimes but honestly not as often as others seem to. Maybe it just depends on individual observations, but as someone with a moderately large chest many of the dolls that people mention as having "OMG big boobs!" seem pretty normal looking to me in the cleavage department. But goodness knows my two girls are quite small chested, and I adore them. ^^

    17. I don't know if I would want a "big" doll, but I certainly do not like owning thin dolls. I own mostly Volks for this matter. I like my dolls to be slightly thicker. I am not a fan of mature dolls for my personal collection, so I think Volks has a lovely thickness to their bodies that isn's too mature, but is considered 'fat' by some others. My Volks MSD's dwarf MNF, for example!
The want for a thicker doll has actually been expressed many times for a thicker doll. But besides artist dolls, not too many have been created, sadly. I am sure it would have a very high market!

As far looking for a bigger hipped MSD, I would check out Souldoll's old single jointed body. I just played with my friends Souldoll girl tonite and her hips are LOVELY! They're very thick and curvy. It had a lovely maturity to the body, as well.

    18. Ney: I absolutely agree! There is so much potential beauty in women such as that! My best friend is similar and it was actually her that inspired me to think about this. Also, I think that the cost of resin would not increase much if at all, because it's still hollow resin, however, I am sure I would have to compensate with height in order to keep a good balance. :>

Dolly: Oh yes! I did see that Sharmistha body! I thought it was really great to see. And I do love Dollmore Glamour dolls but they seem more like... skinny dolls with big boobs and butt and not much 'weight' - if that makes sense.

Vengez: I have a bluefairy that I love just for that reason. Nice rounded body without emphasis on sexuality at all. And I actually have a general soulkid body! I love her so much, she does indeed have beautiful hips.

    19. Oh I would love some larger dolls! I've only seen the two: BonBon and Coco (and someone was doing a mod that I now can't find).

Someone in another thread asked something along the lines of, "why would you want a fat, unhealthy-looking doll? They're supposed to be ideals." Of course I could write an essay as to why fat doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy (and thin doesn't always mean healthy), but I'd much rather focus on how beautiful fuller figures can be. I want a doll with an idealized version of a Reubenesque figure! And I may need to make my own, since I have a photostory idea to recreate some portraits from that time period.

Curious to read other people's opinions on this, too.

    20. all the male dolls I see look either very feminine, or very muscular but with very feminine faces
the only ones I have ever seen that are masculine are SD males
