A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. Haha, I have to say that I wish the Aoi Tuki dolls had a larger bust- they look unbalanced to me! But then again, I have a very large bust so I'm a bit "topheavy" and "bottomheavy" dolls look odd to me because of that- not that I have superskinny legs or anything, but I have.. a very large bust. ^^;

Right now I only have two dolls- a mini and tiny, the mini is skinny but not quite a slim mini. A friend of mine has said she thinks she looks unrealistic and weird, but to me she just looks like a lanky child (she's only meant to be about 8 or maybe 10, I know I was pretty lanky and skinny at that age). I think my friend thought she was a teenager/grownup and was complaining about her very flat chest in combo with skinny limbs, though. If she were meant to be older, I would understand what she means though. But for an adult character/doll, I'd love to see a doll with more... plumpness all round. Not necessarily talking "fat" but something like Aoi Tuki, only... bustier up top too. The fact of the matter is, when women go through puberty, and especially at the end of puberty when they're getting their adult figures, they get a layer of fat underneath the skin, all through the body. Even thin girls have this layer of fat, and on some thin figured BJDs you can see that- they have softer curves and little bellies and the like. On some you can't see it at all and those are usually the dolls that look like children to me. I would love to see some dolls that look more like adults, but it would be such a hassle to dress them that I'm not sure I'd buy one, if you know what I mean.

    2. This is a great topic!! I'd also like to see a full figured doll! I don't mind regular shaped dolls but if the doll is too skinny....:sigh. Lets just say that I have two doll heads that need bodies with meat on their bones.
I wouldn't mind seeing an SD13 sized boy with love handles. Just so it's slightly sticking out of the tops of his jeans.
Or a girl doll with a muffin top torso. If anyone has seen the episode of Sailor Moon when she got fat..that's what I mean; Plus there are tons of girls out there that have this..I basically call it cute fat.
Or maybe a thick boy..and when I say thick I mean the ones that look muscle bound or fat but their not :| . It's kind of an oxymoron but I've seen alot of these guys around the gym at school. They have a developed chest but a straight, flat stomach.

    3. I'd like to see a curvy doll! LIke bottom heavy! SO HER HIPS WON'T LIE! I don't want a femal doll but I would SO BUY THAT ONE!

    4. I think that perphaps there should be more various sizes of BJDs? o___O; But for me, I like slim dolls :sweat

That doll from aoi-tuki scares me :o

    5. SOOOOO!!! How fortunate that I, a scuptor came upon this forum! I'll tell you what, I'll come up with some drawings, and you all tell me what you think. I personally love drawing and sculpting the female body in all physiques, but this would be a challenge.
Personally, I find beauty in slender or full, because I range from both depending on the season and my mood. I have size 4, size 6 and size 10's in my closet!!! lol!
I do however notice that some dolls are fuller or slimmer, look at the Limhwa half elf as opposed to the Supia Roda. And the Iplehouse girls compared to Limhwa. Supia is by far slimmer, then Limhwa with Iple looking just a little fuller. Also, buddy doll and Musedoll are SUPER skinny. I prefer, of course the Limhwa half elf or the iple body...if you all are interested though, I'd love to get your ideas on sketches of a full figured doll...

    6. Tinybear's new tinies are curved like fertility goddesses. :aheartbea Someone's probably already linked them, but they're so lovely they deserve another link: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2718376&postcount=1395 First time ever my wife has looked at a doll and wanted it, not just for my sake.

The ai-tuki body is exceptionally beautiful - or would be, except that I hate the joints. A little softness around the tummy, and she'd be my idea of beauty - pear-shaped and full-breasted. And that's where the rub is for me, I think: skinny dolls with big breasts may be someone's "idealization" of beauty, but it certainly isn't mine. As far as attraction and aesthetics go, skinny isn't my deal, even if it has what looks like implants stuck on top. (No offence to skinny women, who are equally as beautiful and desirable to people for whom they are their ideal.) Both what I most want for myself, and what I find most beautiful in other women, is far curvier and more womanly than most bjds. I'd love to have dolls that reflect that.

Yes! But I still want to give my Choseol a couple of good round meals, poor ickle girl.

I'm not won over by the argument that bjds are skinny because they're Asian. They certainly don't have such big busts in order to reflect the mean Japanese/Korean size...

    7. I don’t think there will ever be any “fat” dolls but I suppose it depends on the meaning of “fat”. I can think of a couple of artist dolls who have very feminine and curvy shaped bodies, which aren’t exactly skinny but they aren’t “fat”.

I have mainly male dolls so they tend to be, not really "skinny" but more "toned". Well, all of them except Flux (CP Chiwoo) and Elk (BC Pepe). I think having a "chubby face" is adorable, especially on my Elk because it gives him such a cute appearance.

In response to one thing said about chubby dolls being ones that are chibi-like and younger in general. I don’t agree, I think there are some dolls out there who aren’t “ideally skinny”. Flux is my example, he is a CP Elf Chiwoo and in my eyes he has quite a big head, wide with larger cheeks than any of my other dolls.

    8. I was appalled at what some people consider 'fat', i.e. anyone who has actual curves and doesn't have bones sticking thru the skin.

I recently got myself a 1/6 obsitsu, and because I wanted her to be a specific character who is a bit chunky, I 'fattened her up' with half a pound of epoxy putty - a considerable amount, given her size! I wish I could post a photo, because while she's 'junoesque' in the way that Renoir's models were, she's quite pretty - in fact, downright curvaceous & rather more attractive than all the 'normal' weight dolls. As for movements, no - she can't wrap her ankles around her neck, nor can she touch the soles of her feet to her head - but then again, who wants her to? I don't. What I do want her to do, she does very well: poses prettily, dresses nicely - and yes, she balances quite well all on her own, without magnets (an issue that was postulated earlier in the thread). So she's got a belly & butt & boobs - so what? I for one am sick & tired of being told by a bunch of self-appointed authorities & judges, that only anorexically thin women are worthy of being considered aesthetically pleasing, thereby poisoning the minds not only of impressionable young girls who actually believe their pap, but of us adult women, because subconsciously WE ingest it, too. It's interesting to me that the majority of these self-appointed pundits are male designers, & MSM editors, who seem to delight in making clothing for women that is not only ridiculous, but uncomfortable as well. A sort of fashion Taliban, intent on keeping women down thru their minds and clothing, if not by any other means.

If you'd like to see a plump bjd - 1/6 - go to 13 Doll Dreamland (JunkySpot website) and check out the Datum's Den thread titled 'More Resculpt Photos'

I for one would love to see adult female bjds who resemble Queen Latifah, instead of these ridiculous travesties of the overdeveloped mammary-laden manga/anime female figure which is the obvious sex fantasy of males who dominate & control the development & marketing of all this stuff! The big-bosomed, wasp-waisted, long-leggedy creations we have currently are basically the productions of adult men still fixating on their juvenile erotic imaginations.

    9.
    10. I agree with everyone.. and if they did it'd probably have to be more expensive due to the extra resin use, and i don't think too many people will pay extra for a fat dolly.. :/

    11. Oooooh. Personally, I think I already like Coco and Bonbon best in tiny size (as I own enough large dolls as it is, and I'd probably own more tinies if it wasn't for the lack of mature-looking sculpts), but a 1/3 or 1/4 scale version of Coco/Bonbon's body would ROCK. (Although I don't know how compatible it would be with other heads, as I can't think of many other faces that are as chubby as Coco and BonBon's, except maybe the Volks sculpts.)

I really like the Aoi Tuki dolls, and I'd never seen them before this thread. I bet they're quite expensive, though. :( (And harder to get hold of, given that the website is in Japanese.)

    12. You describe her with such passion! If you do get some photos I would really like to see her, she sounds so gorgeous :)

    13. i've been told my doll noella from dollga is a fat one! LOL! =D

    14. I'd like to see a "chubby" SD13 male dolly tee hee! Not like curvy or anything, just a male dolly that hasn't been to the gym in months and is losing his six pack or something. Yeah, a sedentary dolly.

I'd like to see your doll to NancyS :)

    15. My Luts boys dont have six packs :)
I'm not really a fan of really muscley body molds which is why I struggle so much with floaty heads that dont have a Luts resin match :sweat

    16. I forgot about them! Yeah, Luts do make cute boy bodies! I think there aesthetically more pleasing than most other company bodies. I'd really wish they come out with the real skin version of those bodies, as I'd get one for my Ethan:D I'd probably like the SDF bodies, if they weren't so ripped! They look more slender than the regular delf boy bodies...

    17. I know what you mean! I was a tad sad that they made the male bodies "ripped" However, I really like the female SND bodies because, like the topic, I dont think they are hugely skinny. They are very feminine with big hips which I think are amazing!

    18. Thats awesome! I can't wait to see your sketches!

    19. I would like to have one. Not a fat fat one ( it may weight to much for me) but a real curvy one like Queen Latifa (I'm like that myself). That would be nice to have and see:)
