A fat dollfie.

Dec 30, 2005

    1. I can't seem to get the photos to post here - or anywhere else online! If you want to see her, do go to the website thread I listed above; I don't know how to work w/this damned computer very well.

    2. I'm generally a fan of thinner more aestetically pleasing dolls, because I'm an artist ^^; But having a slightly thicker doll... that could be fun :3 I think I'd want one thicker in the stomach, not as much in the arms or legs. Not overly fat, but definately not thin. That'd be fun :3 She'd probably be somewhat more "real" than my other dolls XD

    3. I would think the reason they look like that is for sex appeal? That would make the most sense to me. They are like little humans, but don't have the signs of life....they are to follow the looks of I would guess the perfect human when first created...though they are never always like that of course, especially when we get our hands on them...

    4. X) truth to that...
I never really liked muscles as a little girl (Actually I still sort of dislike it now...)
So many people like an idealistic body because of something that influenced them** so I suppose that's why doll companies make it like that.
Maybe it's also because BJDs have something that people lack or something of that sort.
Although...asking for changable eyeballs for yourself is a little too much. XD
** :/ this is just my own personal opinion so it may not be like that for yourself.

    5. not sure if anyone mentioned this but Tinybear will be having two chubby tinies coming out sometime soon.. Coco and Bonbon, and they are pudgy little things.:)

    6. I collect male bjds and I don't think I want a fat male bjd in my boy band. I prefer mascular or skinny male.

    7. Coco and BonBon. ;3 That's all I have to say, Tinybear's newest babez are pleasantly plump.

As am I, I don't think it's bad to have a chunky doll. :/ I only worry about the posibility.

    8. I know this will come out sounding kinda mean, but I think it would be somewhat amusing to have a larger doll. I mean, it would be one of a kind! the only problem is that most clothes probably wouldnt fit them.

    9. I think the boys should be more masculine (not all of them, but some) :D
And I'm glad that they have made some of girl bodies have the smaller breasts. But to see an actual "normal" size girl would be nice.

    10. I love to sew so that would not be a problem for me. well... I think this works according to preferences. I would like to have a female curvy doll but I don't think I would not like to have a fat male. I like female dolls more:sweat

    11. Many thoughts:
      1) Coco and BonBon are so fabulous. A *smiling* fertility goddess!! How can you beat that??

      2) One of the reasons I adore the Elfdoll boy body, the original one, is that they have this little hint of love handles ;) I'm serious, that just is the most appealing thing. They're also nicely muscled without being SteroidMan big.

      3) Did you check the artist forum at the bottom of DoA? Someone made or may still be making a most amazing full-figured girl. I don't know what became of that project because I haven't looked in ages... I'm going to guess that was about a year ago. But she was *beautiful*

      4) [soapbox warning] I hate being called "plus size" when I'm smaller than almost all of the women my age that I work with. Ya know, 2 kids toward the tail end (no pun intended) of your bearing years *will* change the shape of your body; and yet I still am one of the slimmer women in the office. I'm no waif, but I don't like being labelled a pudgemuffin by clothes artists who think a size 14 (the average size women in the US wear) is "plus". [/end soapbox]

So yeah!! Full Figured Dolls! bring 'em on!

(I want a Bonbon, Carrie :D or maybe it was Coco. .... or both! :D )

    12. I think fat dolls require more resin so they would be costly to make. XD

    13. No more costly than an 80cm doll, I imagine. Gimmie a break, just cause a doll would look heavy don't mean they'd have to use more resin to make it heavier! And if it's a 60cm ranged doll I bet you can make it with almost the same amount of resin as a skinny one.

Um, personally, I'd like a rounder female body. Plump-like. Think Victorian style paintings. :D Otherwise, I have enough rolls to go around.

    14. Yeah, I'm not buying the 'fat dollfies would be heavier and more expensive' argument either. There's already Coco in tiny size, and she's relatively inexpensive for a tiny, and I don't see why a 60cm fat doll would be that much heavier or more expensive than a 70 cm skinny one. (Plus, if she's 1/4 scale or smaller, the weight is pretty much a non-issue.) The only difference is that a 70cm skinny doll would likely sell better than a 60cm fat one, because the 'slender bishonen' look is so popular - there are plenty of cynical practical reasons why a company wouldn't want to make a fat adult sculpt, so I'm overjoyed when they do appear for sale.

    15. CinnamonTea: FAT???????????????? Gosh I would like to be that "fat". Then people ask why women end up with bulimia or anorexia when they see women that are perfectly healthy and start with the "You look fat" thing... She's curvy not fat. BTW I love Aoi Tuki Body. I think I will go for it if I want to make a curvy character:D She's gorgeous:)

    16. not taking sides here, but I have to say, that my Ark who is 68cm weighs more than my hound who is 70cm, His chest cavity is larger, his legs are larger around, and he just weighs more. So I think to make a large 60cm doll with more generous proportions would take more resin, therefore be a little heavier. but i would love to see a more "rubenesque" doll.

    17. Well definitely some dolls weigh more than others. I got to handle a Jace, and holy goodness was that dude HEAVY. But still, he was in the same range cost as other dolls his size, right? *shrug* And that was really my point, I guess. :sweat

    18. I would love a heavier, curvier doll to have more variety in my doll family. I had to settle for an Elfdoll Soah for my chubbier character because she's got thicker legs and child-bearing hips.

But I don't think it would be very popular :( A large majority of people who buy dolls want perfect bodies, and that means they are skinny and fit. People are so judgemental about dolls' appearances that a fat doll would get a lot of flack >_<

    19. You finding thinner dolls more aestetically pleasing, would be your personal opinion, and has nothing to with being an "artist" or not. Otherwise, what would you label Rubens, Rembrandt, and most old masters of paint? ;) Come visit Frognerparken in Oslo, where one of our most famous artists has made hundreads of sculptures, 90% of them "fat" compared to commercial standards. Having a doll that is not downright skinny, does NOT mean you don't want it to be beautiful.

Either way, everyone has different taste, there is no right answer to what is pretty or not- even if the slender look might be more commercial and popular. When I got my Obitsu Gretel, I actually really disliked her body for being so skinny and unnaturally proportioned, whilst I think the Iplehouse girls have beautiful, yet slender curves. However, I think that BJDs should come in various shapes and sizes, to make them all the more customisable and versatile, and to please all collectors :)

Tinybear Bonbon is so cute! :aheartbea

    20. Firstly, pictures are buy the artists so they take credit ^^

I hope they dont mind being mentioned but Enaibi and Lillycat do the most gorgeous girls that I would LOVE to get my hands on.

      Lillycat's Cerisedolls Sandre:

I love how Lillycat does her hips and the fact that she has a natural chest. And I adore the dimples on her back as they show her shape.

As for Enaibi, whilst her first dolls were chibi like curvy younger females, here is her newest SD size female:

Now check out those hips! Seriously sexy curves.

Now I know both of these molds have quite slim waists I wouldnt call them skinny. But I would call them fat either.

I think the shape and size of the doll is down to the owner, I dont think there is a right or a wrong, and I dont agree with it being more artistic to have a skinnier doll as Im sure a painted "chubby" doll can be just as stunning as a skinny one!

What loz64 said: "People are so judgemental about dolls' appearances that a fat doll would get a lot of flack >_<" Makes me really sad because I agree. It makes me think that my chubby dolls (I believe I have 2) would be laughed at because of what they look like. Its upsetting. Sure there are somethings Im not keen on but I wont be horrible about it.
