[A Poll] Just curious about your collection style :)

I have a mixture of elves and humans in a mostly fantasy setting.
Only a few of mine are in the modern day era.
I also have a few Dragon Age themed dolls.

 

My collection is a mix but they do tend to fall into the Fantasy and Sci-Fi categories mainly. I also voted ‘Other’ as those that don’t haven’t really got any particular style other than what happens to suit them. *shrug*

 

Fantasy, I settled into world-building with my second doll and now it colors every purchase decision I make-how do they fit in, getting members of his family, etc. I still do have modern day clothing, because it's fun to dress them up like that, especially for sillier photoshoots, but my main focus is building up my fantasy setting.

My dolls are all fantasy creatures but I try to give them their own style.

 

Punk. My girls are all loud, opinionated, bossy punks. I have no idea where they get it from.
I have some frilly stuff, but it always ends up getting shoved back into storage in favor of jeans, leather, and studs.

 

All of mine are dressed in modern fashion but it ranges from witchy goth to pastel princess, lol.

 

I try to have different style for each of my dolls, or at least swap it, but the themes I like or *would* like to do are the following:

-office drama-vibes (heels, pencil skirts, boys in suits and lacquered shoes)
-rococo/dark rococo
-victorian and/or victorian goth
-edwardian
-pastel rainbow
-mori, fur collars, flower patterns, autumn.

 

My collection has technically two themes: OCs/existing characters, and/or elf ears.

To be serious though—Most of my OC-based crew arise from a storyline set in a world that's semi steampunk, slightly Eastern influenced (well, more-so inspired by a fic that's a slight AU take on Legend of Korra), with possibly some fantasy/historically inspired elements thrown in for extra effect. There's also, of course, the ones that are based on Legend of Korra characters, an MSD boy who veers closer to Hawaiian/beach-themed, and a Minifee Mika/Mir drawn from a completely different universe from the others.

Maybe a better word to describe my crew would be—eclectic

 

My dolls' clothing themes are all over the place, so I picked color haha. I would say all of my dolls have some kind of fun color featured in their design, whether it's subtle like my Black Jack's deep blue eyes, or loud like my Minami's purple skin tone and electric blue hair. Bright colors bring me a lot of joy, so I like to incorporate something fun into each doll's look even when they're a more serious character.

 

They’re all a bit frilly/lacy, vintage or historical

 

Fantasy and gothic for me over here! Most of my dolls are dressed either fantasy or in relatively casual clothes at the moment, but there’s some very gothy vibes with a lot of them. Unsurprising, given that part of my crew are vampires, and another 3 are necromancers, so skulls and the like are pretty topical.

All of my dolls are human sculpts, and the two themes I follow are historical and modern day! :] I didn't want to limit myself to one, and the modern clothing ranges from streetwear to formal/elegant and lolita fashion.

 

Mostly fantasy sculpts here! Even the ones that aren't fantasy sculpts are straight up based on characters that are fantasy creatures.

 

All but 2 of my dolls are VOLKS F-01 (and the two that aren't were both very recently acquired and similarly large head/eye sculpts) so that's the theme here
Nadeko is a lolita and all the SD-sized girls here end up borrowing clothes from her at some point but they all have their own different styles so I wouldn't consider that a cohesive theme as much as it is out of convenience.

 

I clicked on several but really should have clicked on Someting Else as, while the ones i clicked on are present the main theme is children. Very few of my dolls are adults , a few more are older teens , the majority however are children and a few younger teens.

The biggest group are a large family of, mostly SD sized, Victorian children from one extended family of siblings, half siblings , and cousins. I also have a few dolls from other historical periods, and the rest are mainly outfitted in vintage/old-fashion/classic childrens styles. There are very few who dress modern, although I've added more of those recently - but they're "middle-of-the-road" modern (generic jeans and T-shirts) rather than any specific modern or current-fashion style modern.

My doll preference changed over the years and I settled in making an Edwardian/Victorian doll family with a bit of whimsy. Think about the girls who made Cottingley Fairies.

I only have Celastrina for now, still in a box though. Still a project
