My husband is vying for me to get Morterradd in No.2. And here I was all set to buy a girl doll...

 

I'm hoping to order one of the dwarves! Glad the pre-order goes for the month so I can save up a little. I can't decide which sculpt I like more thought... I feel like Vakhmurddarr has a more classic dwarven face but Morterradd is a little more handsome (thinking on how they looks with big ol' beards).

 

Sorry, took me a while to find his CoA...and find out his resin color is not on it! lol Woops.
I'm thinking he's No. 2. Not really dark enough to be No. 3, and I'm sure he's not No. 1. So... No. 2.

I am thinking about dwarf order too. And I am also can not decide about mold and skin color
Dwarfs should be dark skin as most fairy tales report. So No3?
But what mold?

 

I'm in the same predicament. I'd like at least one dwarf, and in the darker No3 skin tone. But it's so hard to choose from a blank head. I think I prefer the blank Morterradd, but going by the drawn-on hair and beards, I prefer Vakhmurddarr. He looks more serious. What to do??

 

I solved the question by ordering one of each. How could I choose just one? I like Morte as his plain sculpt better but Vakh with a beard is irresistible. I do hope I will be able to create a beard that does him justice.

 

Vakh looks extremely caucasian, like people live in Caucasian mountains region. He is noble Georgian man. And, yes, like antique Assyrian and Sumerian people. Mort is more European and simple. He is more common.
aGatti made Mort first and Vakh after him especially to light up the fantasy expectations I suppose.

 

Well, my first aGatti has to be one of the taller guys (or maybe one of the ladies), but if I were ordering this time, I think I would choose Vakh. I think Mort looks sweeter and has a more traditionally attractive face, but Vakh has a mysterious air that could be really interesting and versatile. I picture more as an clean shaven character than one with a big fierce beard, however.

I'd like to see him as a medieval jester who hides his intelligence under silly clothes and deadpan humor/sarcasm.

ETA: @MB Lilac - I hope you can make up your mind! Your dolls are so beautifully customized! If it helps, from the perspective of a humble outsider (me!) it seems like Mort's face would fit well with your other dolls, who seem to have a sweet, gentle atmosphere about them.

 

To conclude the discussion: Vakh is a dwarf king or warrior but Mort is a blacksmith or miner

 

My husband thinks dwarfs should be light skinned because they spend so much time underground. Thoughts?

I'm inclined to agree with that. I'd also think they'd have different skin tones based on region/fortress types or economy. Civilizations based around mining might have paler skin than dwarves who are merchants trading with other above ground races. Then there are Duergar who'd be more in the grey range from living entirely underground like dark elves.

tl;dr I guess it depends on what lore - if any - you're going with!

 

Grey skin is also available as custom for additional. Light grey and dark grey. I think the red head could be paler.
