1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. This is just so disheartening to read... Like everyone else, I'm praying that these wonderful dolls will be found soon. It's really sad to read this. Mr Shigeta did the right thing about donating it to Make-A-Wish if the dolls are found.

All in all, I'm with everyone here on finding the dolls back... *hugs*

    2. I agree with this. Bad things happen in life. But you know, god is watching. Many times, as a consequences better things will happen later. One must not be discouraged.

I think that idea about the donation in Volks' name is a good idea.

    3. Has Volks, FDQ, etc, considered going to the NY local media (cbs2, nbc4, etc) for help?

    4. I agree with this idea too.

    5. I just read about this, it's very sad that someone would do this. Mr. Shigeta and the Volks staff are so nice, loving and generous to bring Dolpas to the US for us and I feel so terrible that this would happen to them. I hope the dolls are recovered soon.

    6. This really makes my tummy hurt.
But, if it happened in the early morning, assuming no classes took place today, and security was on staff, I think it is fairly easy to pin point suspects...

I just hope the dolls are found, in a wierd twist I hope they were packed away, forgotten and found!

    7. This sucks D:

Like others have said, I doubt it was anyone who was really into the hobby as something they enjoy. Those people would know just how much the community would be on the look out for the dolls in photos or for sale. The first thing that came to my mind was either people who make counterfeit dolls or people who plan to try and sell them for a profit through ebay -possibly without knowing how much people will be on the look out for those particular dolls. But that's just my guess.

I'll keep my eye out on ebay and the like places when I'm on there. Really hope the dolls get found and returned safely.

    8. This is terrible news, just terrible and disgusting. I really hope they find something on the cameras, I mean carting out 7 large dolls at night would be noticeable?

I am amazed by Mr. Shigeta's kindness and big heart, I really hope whoever did this will either turn them over or get caught soon!

    9. Datsuki and Kyrie, I think you guys are on the right track here. It is actually a very nice gesture to Mr. Shigeta and Volks' generosity if we start some kind of fundraising for Make-A-Wish foundation.

    10. I would like to join in and help. Mr. Shigeta and Volks have done a lot for us fans. I really want to show that we appreciate them.

    11. You know, in a way, I hope that the person who had taken the dolls is someone from the BJD community--and the only reason why I hope that this is so is because then they would have access to a lot of the doll forums, especially this one. And, as the saying goes, "curiosity killed the cat," so hopefully they'd eventually read this thread, if only to see what other people are saying about them. Mr. Shigeta has proven himself to be a very kind person--first being willing to dismiss any charges should the dolls be returned and then having the intention of giving them to Make-A-Wish--and the one thing that I've learned is that the doll community does NOT forget. Just a couple of days ago, I was reading a thread in the Bad Feedback/Problem transactions sub-forum and going through a bad trade/scamming incident involving a Yukinojo. For nearly a year--I think--people would always comment on the thread, offering suggestions, being constantly on the look-out to help the poor girl. For nearly a year (or more) for one doll, even if it was limited. This...? Very much worse.

If the person(s) who stole the dolls ARE doll collectors and see this thread, I hope that they realize just how thoroughly screwed they are. The doll community is going to be on constant vigilance until the dolls are found--and they're going to be watching for a VERY long time. Hope the person has a pair of eyes in the back of his/her head; those extra eyes will be needed. :|

      ( Bloodthirsty? I think that there's good reason for it. >> )

    12. It's so sickening isn't it? How people can do this is beyond me, they need help coz they really aren't right in the head. It must be a collector with no intention of selling them but they will get caught out. The only thing I can say is it's lucky they were display dolls rather than companion dolls, I know that's no excuse but I'm trying to look on the bright side.

    13. If it was attendees than they had an inside person moving in and had some system to walk out with that many dolls. It had to be at night I mean, you would notice an SD16 with a frilly outfit leaving the exit...but I mean in all honesty, I think it was an attendee or someone who was on the inside who knew about these dolls, or possibly the opposite, a no body who has no knowledge of the value, just wants to see how much he can get for resin.

    14. I kinda agree with this, though it's a far cry for any of us (especially those of us who weren't there) to start playing detective. It had to have been someone who knew EXACTLY what they were doing and what those dolls would be worth, or someone who thought it would be funny and happened to get away through dumb luck.

I find it hard to believe it would be someone within the community, though I guess anything is possible. But I know the majority of us couldn't even begin to consider doing something so digusting. Well... I'd like to think so anyway.

    15. If this fund for Make-A-Wish foundation starts, please keep us informed. I want to contribute!

    16. My head is spinning and my chest hurts every time I think about it. This is happening at home and is impossible not to be upset.

I vote for the idea of doing something for the Shigeta family and Volks. They've been nothing but generous and kind and this is just too unfair. How would they trust us anymore to do more events in the country?

    17. Just as unique and famed art works are stolen to order, this wole business smells of a pre-planned attack. It hurts me to think of these little-ones sitting in some private collection, but I am sure that they *will* come to light in the end.

The Japanese collecting community is in high gear watching the various auction sites and other such dealers.

We can do little if these beauties have been stolen to contract, but should the thieves be so ill advised as to move them on the open market, then we shall have them.

    18. or their relative / family friend. :sweat

    19. It was, quite literally, too much to bear to hear Mr. Shigeta and Mikey talk about how worried they are about the dolls. They did not make one single mention of their monetary value, as high as it is for these dolls, or the loss their company suffered as a result this theft; they were most concerned that they were taken by somebody who doesn't know what they are, and that they might be mistreated. :(

I can only hope that they turn up. I pray for an "oops somebody put them in this room" sort of moment. It's too appalling for words, it really and truly is.

    20. I must say I totally agree with Arkady.
I don't think we'll ever see those dolls on eBay or Y!J: I am almost sure they have been stolen by some private collectors just like many other precious works of art :(
