1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. Whom ever took those dolls must have snuck in the room at night. You can't just steal 6 or 7 dolls during the day.
It was most likely 2 people.

      But honestly,what idiots.
It's as bad as stealing the mona lisa.

I never understood the point of stealing priceless things, they could never be sold.

Prehaps someone took ithem for their own personal collection.
Either way,I hope that they are returned safely.

    2. Jesus Christ! :horror: Who would do such a thing? Moreover, did anyone lock up anything within the exhibitors hall and the like? You'd think someone would be keeping an eye on the room, making sure that nothing gets stolen. All I can say is, if the person(s) ever gets caught, I hope they lock the individual(s) in prison, and throw away the key.

I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled in case someone tries to sell it online.

    3. This is very common in the world of archeology. People raid excavating sites (locals paid by various rich people) to get certain items, and then they go into peoples private collections.
It really makes me very mad and sad at the same time that people would do these things to other people.
      I feel sorry Mr. Shigeta...

    4. when i first found out i nearly threw up, and i don't normally react like that to stuff like this (and i've had stuff like my car stolen from me before).

reading what Mr. Shigeta said, makes me cry. :...(

i'm up for the donation, i'll see what i can scrounge up (*is unemployed* :sweat).. hmm, maybe i can make a few designs to spread the word about donating.

i really hope that they turn themselves in, cuz i have a feeling that not only God is watching, but the whole international BJD/doll community as well.. with thoughts of wanting to "re-string" the person(s) involved. :sweat

    5. So embarassing and awful. I pray that whoever has taken these dolls just returns them quietly.
I am ashamed to be a New Yorker right now.

    6. This is awful! I hope the dolls turn up!

    7. Would Volks Post updates about this on their websites? I hope they find out who did it I really want to have the person caught.

    8. This is horrible, I think it's so sad/pathetic that someone would have the nerve to steal something like this, or anything for that manner.. This is one of the many things that drives me to distance myself with the human race. D:
unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about being apart of this race.

Best of wishes, and I really hope these beautiful dolls show up unharmed. Hopefully someone out there has a heart. D:

    9. I hope Volks keeps us informed if the dolls are returned or show up.
To those that say they are ashamed, don't be, it wasn't you. There are people who will do terrible things all over the world. I think it's safe to say we all wish we could do something to bring them back and hate that we can't...:(

    10. When they say they are donating it to make a wish does that mean that we are giving the dolls to underprivledged kids or are they auctioning hte dolls and giving the procededs to help the kids? I doubt a 6year old wouldn't be scared of suck human dolls. I really hope they find them. I'm betting who stole them knows nothing about the community.

    11. I'm sure they meant donating the proceeds from sales. No, they wouldn't give those dolls out to people who don't even know what they are.

    12. I'm so sick to hear that this happened!! It makes me actually feel physically sick to my stomach.

I was looking at the make a wish website and I'm not sure how to set up a group donation but if someone does know how to set this up, I'd be interested in donating! Maybe a trusted mod here on DoA can set up a paypal acct into which all the donations can be sent to and then we could use the honor card or certificate donation option on the make a wish website (http://www.wish.org/help/donate/cards_and_certs) to send Volks a notice that we've make a donation on their behalf?

    13. :( This is awful. I hope they catch whoever did this. Theft of any kind is disgusting, makes me furious. I hope whoever did it is stupid enough to show somebody with a conscience the dolls (another collector, if that's the case... I just don't know what to think) and they turn them in, or something... sigh. :ablah:

    14. I've never been a huge Volks fan, however, Shigeta-san's offer of generosity warms my heart, and I too would like to join in on doing something.

    15. This is very sad. I am oddly heartened by their being in boxes. I was picturing them being rudely shoved into some suitcase and banging together! Thank you for posting about what Mr Shigeta said about this. It is encouraging to read about his generous and trusing philosophy.
The idea of the make a wish donation in Volks' name is lovely.

    16. I was so hoping I would get home and sign on to read the dolls were found/returned.
It was such an awful thing to happen to the most gracious and generous Volks and FDQ

    17. I know that it is a big concern to many of you guys that the Volks family will in some way hold this against the US dollfie owners, but I assure you they are not the sort of people who would do so. I have never met more friendly, trusting, truly good-hearted people and I know that they would never hold this against the rest of us. You could see that Mr. Shigeta was more upset about the dolls making it to good homes. He never once mentioned a dollar loss, so I don't think that is their concern. But a donation to a great organization like MAW is never a bad idea.
I think at this point all we can do is let them take care of the legal end of things and keep our eyes and ears open for any sign of these dolls popping up anywhere on the net. Could be a month, could be two months or God knows how long, but all things happen for a reason and maybe these dolls were meant to be part of some strange turn of events and maybe, just maybe some good will come of it in the end.
We can only hope. *crosses fingers*

    18. I was sick to my stomach when I heard the awful news this afternoon:(.... I could not believe my ears when I heard Mikey tell us what had happened:(..... It just breaks my heart that someone would be so conniving, so spineless, so evil to do something like this to such a lovely and gracious group of people such as Volks and FDQ:(.... It really makes me sick, and I'm just hoping the security cameras (assuming they had any in the hall) caught whom ever touched those dolls and they are returned to Volks in pristine condition....

It was so very lovely though the touch Mr. Shigeta gave at the end of his speech today about this experience though terrible as it is some how bought us closer:sorry... And the hope of us seeing Volks again in NYC next year:eusa_pray.... Just remember everyone, (I don't know if this has already been mentioned) but if you see one of these Moulds selling with a similar face up ask to see the Volks Golden Plate at the back of the head, for the Models that were stolen DID NOT HAVE THE GOLDEN PLATES at the back of their heads..... I really hope they turn up though:(
      ~Anthony

    19. Don't forget that these dolls have signatures in their heads.

    20. The words "pissed off" don't even begin to describe how I feel about this. For this to happen during an event that is such a fabulous gift for us...! My heart felt like it was being twisted when I heard. This was the second run in with theft this weekend for me. I'm not going to speculate here on who the theif could be, but I am very disappointed in FIT's security. I'm just furious, disppointed, and sick about it.

Brandon, that's a very beautiful way to think about it. I hope you are right.
