1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. Just what I stated some pages earlier...

    2. While this is a truely horrible thing to have happened, I do find it wonderful that with the internet and forums like this one, word can be spread and easy sales by the thieves have a good chance of being prevented. Its lovely to see people banding together to try and protect the victims of this theft. Its kinda nice when the bigger world acts like a small town :)

    3. I'm sorry but I don't see how you can really ... compare those things to a doll theft.

Back on Topic: I hope the dolls are recovered and that security for any future Dollpa events will be handled better. Sad to see this kind of thing happen.

    4. I am appalled with this news........

OMG...what is the World coming to!!! If it's not tied down, nailed down or behind a barrier it's gone!!! One thing I hate... light fingered people....we all work so hard to get what we have, and along come these rotters and take it away....*curses* on them... I really do hope they get caught...............

      xen

    5. hmm well my comparison is that there are a lot of unfortunate events but the ones that are reported happened around the same time with numbers. That's how I find it "creepy". I am not saying they are the same extent nor am i saying they are not. Each person relates to something different. Anywaaaayyy....

    6. Has this made the news anywhere? In New York or in some other mainstream media?

    7. I'm angry. This makes my heart hurt. I hope this is someone outside the hobby, because then we have a chance...

If its someone inside the hobby, then they wouldn't dare try to sell or show them on the net. The dolls will just sit in hiding for the thief's eyes only, forever separated from their artists.

      Anger. So much anger.

    8. I just got back from Dolpa tonight & read all of the 19 pages of posts. While Ashbet touched on it, I read several posts on going through the trash (I think after her post?). I did see FDQ going through the trash, so that angle was covered. I keep hoping that they will turn up & an announcement will go out from Volks/FDQ saying they were found while cleaning up, maybe in the off room beside the display tables or something.

It was really beautiful the way that the Shigetas & the Volks' & FDQ staff handled it. The rest of the Dolpa went on as scheduled & the workshops were held & they were all very gracious and lovely. Their sadness and concern was genuine, but they did not hold any blame against the Dolpa attendees.

It just seems like a blow for not just Volks & FDQ, but our community as well. The speculation can usually turn ugly. I really hope they were just moved for some reason (yes, just the few ones) for cleaning or something. Not much hope, but a little bit.

I was just looking through the pictures I took of the missing dolls & it is still hard to believe they are gone!

    9. This is so Rotten. It makes me sick to my stomach. One thing I want to say is People, please don't flood volks web site with I'm sorry this happened e-mails. What happened questions ect. they still have a company to run.

Taking up a collection to help them with the lost, as some else said earlyer, is a good Idea. but as all so said I don't think they would take it. But here is one thing we can do to help them recover from the lost. we can all buy a little something from their web page. they have some great eyes for as low as 10$. so we could all do that. and not have to spend a lot of money.

    10. I think that is a good course of action, to at least show our support.

    11. If that is the case, isn't it a little negligent to not secure dolls that are priceless? Especially at night, when you can't look after them... Just my thought.

    12. Hi Aree,
Many many thanks for organizing the missing doll photos so well. The dolls are SO gorgeous and your photos of them are lovely and clearly show the details in the faceups. I went to your fotki and watched the slideshow of them. I think that worked really well to embed the images in my memory.

I am still hoping the dolls will turn up from some forgotten room or corner. I am sad that this incident is overshadowing peoples' joy from attending the Dolpa.

    13. That doesn't appear to be one of the missing dolls.

Also, everyone keep an eye out for new doll companies. It's very possible that they were stolen to be used to make copies. The copies could be altered enough to ward off immediate suspicion and sold under another company name as originals. By the time anyone catches on, chances are the originals will have been destroyed.

It's really a terrible thought and a terrible fate for such beautiful works of art, so please stay on the alert for this, since it's a theory I hadn't yet seen anyone suggest.

    14. lets hope its the right dolls...

    15. This is just awful, I hate that this happened.. How will it reflect? People need to have more morals. These aren't just expensive either, they're handmade with care which makes it a lot worse. It almost makes me hope that it's just some dumb kid who doesn't know what they're worth or what they are, even though it would make it infinitely more hard to track down. Will be watching yahoo/ebay/taobao (china auction site).

    16. This is really sad,
      I can't believe such things would happen . :...(

      What a terrible thief! :x :x :x

I hope this issue would be resolved soon and all the dolls back.

    17. It is indeed possible, though hardly a comfort here. Our own Magical Michael was filtched from, a display and torched once the novelty had worn off.

This is different I think, as one cannot imagine so many specific creations being swiped just for disposal... Still......
