1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. Sorry - here it is again:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189584

And if not, this is what it says (from the New thread):

      June 10th - A Message from Pat:

      Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for coming this weekend and supporting FDQ and Volks in this ever growing event. I was at FIT all day yesterday, and we are working on accessing security video tape to see if there is anything captured to help us learn more about the missing dolls. All security and grounds personnel working this past weekend, will be interviewed. Since all events at the venue are required to have insurance certificates, there should be compensation for the loss. I am looking into what needs to be done next, as far as this is concerned.

Mr. Shigeta and the Volks staff have been nothing but patient and gracious under the circumstances. They all
have a very zen attitude about the hopeful return of the dolls along with the wish that the dolls will at least find homes with collectors who will love them. If they are found, the proceeds will go to the Make A Wish
      foundation.

Please note that the stolen dolls did not have head plates, but were signed by the artists (including Irvin), so these dolls would be somewhat unique if sold on eBay.

We are happy to say collectors immediately got the word out on the internet and shared photos so the
dolls will become notorious and less likely to be bought with the knowledge they are stolen.

I wanted to thank everyone who volunteered and all their hard work (Bruce, Karen, Nancy, Rose, Rachel,
Vicki) and my FDQ girls Dorinda, Marsh and Miranda, as well as everyone who attended. Also, big congratulations to you all that won.

We do have some Irvin's available, so please email me if you would like to order him. He will be in in mid-July.

The "heist" kept me from finishing off the blog, so I will try to get the rest of the video and photos up later today, so we can see the good stuff and put the bad stuff behind us.

We are already talking about plans for a Dolpa FIVE (so expect at least 2 more), despite the drama, Volks
is still happy to come to New York and share the excitement for Super Dollfie with their East Coast fans. They are also considering Dolpa in the mid-west for folks in the middle of the country.
Check their USA site in the upcoming months for info on this and keep your eyes open for - "Super Dollfie University". We will have more on that for you.

If You Spot One of the 7 Dolls
If anyone sees an auction for any of the missing dolls, they should report it to Volks directly but cc Pat on it, as she may have to take care of the actual contacting of eBay in English.

    2. I'm not sure what other answers you get to this but I for sure as hell would come forward if by chance I ended up with a piece of these dolls. If it's ended up in my hands w/o me realizing it was one of the stolen dolls until I had it in my hands then it would be through no fault of my own. I would contact Volks & Pat ASAP and let them know who I bought from and any information I could give them.

    3. this is disgusting!T T

    4. this make me feel sadden for those poor stolen dolls, and all the hard work put into them with tender loving care. I mean, this is way low and wrong, i Do hope they are return....soon.

    5. Quoting AmnesticAngel: "What, realistically would or should you do if you managed to find one. Say you walked into a pawn shop or doll store and saw one there... or if you happened to bump into someone holding one of them. What would your best mode of action be?"

Well, if you came across one in a shop, or at a swap meet, you should first try to get permission to examine it. Maybe pretend to be interested in purchasing it, and check to make sure it is one of the missing dolls.

If possible try and get some pictures on your cell phone, perhaps by pretending you need to show it to your husband or parent before you can buy it. Also if you can do so without rousing suspicion try and get a photo or two showing the person who is in possession of the doll.

If not, as soon as possible sit down and write as detailed a description of the person as you can. Write down the shop name, address, and telephone number.

If it is someone at a swap meet try and get their name and a phone number if you can without making them too suspicious...such as needing a way to contact them to purchase the doll after you've shown the pictures of it to your to your husband/parent, etc.

If it is an outdoor swap meet, they may have their car parked in or near their selling space, memorize the license plates and write it down as soon as you can. Make a note of their booth or space number too if there is one.

If it is an regularly occurring swap meet, get the name and phone number of the people who run it, they are usually required to keep records for tax purposes of the people who come to sell which include names, addresses, and phone numbers.

Report this information asap to the police department that is handling the investigation, and/or to Pat who seems to be acting as a go-between for Volks and the authorities.

    6. I keep checking these threads, hoping that at least one of the dolls have been found.
      This is so sickening :(

    7. I'm so disgusted. People can be really low. I'm glad that Volks team is being so patient and that this isn't stopping them from coming back. I hope these dolls are returned soon!

    8. Me too, Churish. I keep checking in here every morning hoping that someone has decided to do the right thing and return the dolls.

    9. Just the THOUGHT of ending up with only a PIECE of a doll like this makes me sick to my stomach! For someone to steal such amazing dolls is horrible... it'd be even more terrible if they just split them into pieces like that and sold them that way!

I want nothing more than the safe return of these dolls. If I ever came a across one or bought one by accident, I would contact Volks immediately. There's no question in my mind. The artists deserve to at least know what became of their dolls...

I've changed my signature on Gaia to an alert on the dolls, linking back to the news forum with the pictures. I've also posted the link on my deviantart journal. I'm going to try my best to get the word out as far as it'll go.

Whoever did this had no respect for what the artists go through to create these amazing dolls. I hope that the thief is caught and those dolls are given proper homes.

    10. You know, I wish I could buy one of these dolls (if not all!) from the thief just to be able to return them to Volks. There would be no hesitating or thinking of keeping them. It would make me so happy to be able to return them because of how happy it would make everyone involved. Wouldn't you just love to see Mr. Shigeta's face when the dolls were returned? *sigh*

I'm just terribly afraid we'll never see these dolls again.

    11. I don't even know that this reflects on just the hobbyists.. I think it reflects on people in general.

I haven't paid attention to the Dolpa information before this (there's no way I would have been able to get there) so I don't know how they were displayed, but I'm wondering if it's possible that whoever stole them just walked up and grabbed something that looked valuable..?

(and I apologise if this has already been said.. I'm on page 2 or 3 of the thread)

    12. just think. right now, the theif could be reading this thread and laughing at all of us.

hopefully, if it's a collector, they'll slip up and release a photo containing one of the stolen dolls and get busted or the theif will be caught when the video tapes are reviewed or something.

    13. Oh well, if they are reading it and laughing, karma will kick their ass/es eventually.

    14. I agree with that

    15. Do you think that this should be brought up on America's Most Wanted...? They may be just dolls to some people out there, but we're talking about over $7,000 (I think) of merchandise stolen here. What do you think?

    16. I think that is for violent crimes or the most heinous kind of crimes. This really doesn't fall into a high priority sort of situation.

It's unfortunate, but not really something that should rise above violent crimes for attention.

    17. AMW is more about murder, kidnapping, child crimes and bank robberies.
This is grand larceny, I do believe. This is not their area of interest.

    18. RE: That's why I was a little iffy about posting that, but I thought... "it couldn't hurt to ask." :sweat

    19. The best thing anyone can do at this point is to spread the news as much as possible, alert the police in NY, and alert/watch different buy sites like ebay, craigslist, and whatever else is out there. Possibly even amazon.

And hope that those security tapes have some evidence on them.

Where's Phoenix Wright when you need him?

    20. Are you serious? Giving the thief money is exactly what s/he wants, and doesn't teach them anything. :|
