1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. Conventions are often held at hotels, the slip is easy to make - I've been to FIT for a number of events and still refer to it as a hotel (as I tend to with every con venue).

      And as to the moaning about speculation.... (once again)

      Alert: This is Rumour Control. These may not necessarily be the facts.

      If conjecture offends you so much, then steer clear. It may not directly help, but neither does it hurt as long as it is kept in this closted environ where it is not being directed towards the actual invesigation. If it helps people to get something off their mind, then let them do so without dropping on them like the Wrath of the Gods.

      I urge understanding and a little compassion all round.

      Yuko.

    2. WELL SAID. :)We are all saddened by this, and trying to help. If anyone has any real information to share, or wants to post an auction they think might be one or something, there is a leads thread started in news/chat.

      There is no reason to be unkind to people posting here who are just trying to think of ways to help.

    3. Theft is rampant everywhere, my friend. Watch out for pickpockets in Italy.

    4. A school - no, managed to blip over that one, somehow. OK, well, who knows. The police have the case, & are certainly the ones to be handling it; however those on this thread getting so indignant at all the armchair detectives might consider that it's human nature to discuss things of this nature, speculate, & play armchair detective. It's what human beings do. Most of them, anyway. So those who are above such base human failings might cut those who are not a little slack, here. If you don't like reading such comments & speculation - and by now you KNOW that's what the bulk of the comments of this thread are about at this point - then just don't read it, f'crying out loud. Let people speculate. It's not as if they were phoning in fake tips to the cops, or the cops were monitoring this thread for bona fide info or tips, after all. It's just a thread on a doll forum; what else are people supposed to talk about here?

    5. Seconded. I just read the thread through it is very interesting.

    6. There's nothing wrong with speculation and discussion.

      I'm just saying to bear in mind that it is just that and that, after 30 pages, it could wind up turning into yelling in an echo chamber.

    7. Besides, it's kind of interesting, & I for one enjoy reading the various theories & the reasoning behind them, as to what happened, who did it, & how; and frankly I'll be VERY interested, if the case is ever solved, to see which of us came closest to qualifying as our DoA Armchair Sherlock Holmes - or rather, his brother Mycroft, who really WAS the 'armchair detective' who could solve crimes from the shelter of his wingchair at The Club.

      Aside from the comments from certain people decrying speculation, I haven't noticed anyone 'yelling' at anyone or putting other people's hypotheses down, altho correction is a good thing; I hadn't picked up on the fact that it happened at the Fashion Institute, which makes a difference as to why the weak (or non-existant?) security & lack of cameras, & changes my entire imaginary scenario & rationales about the crime.

      By speculating & discussing, I don't feel that any of us are condoning this nasty piece of work in the slightest. Personally, I'm outraged for Volks, embarrassed that it happened here in the US, & I hope the perpetrator(s) get caught & get their little necks stretched for it to the max (altho it's more likely, given US criminal sentencing laws, they'll get a slap or so on the wrists, perhaps a year or so of actual jail time, & no more; & if they're rich they probably won't even get that much).

    8. But the crime is a felony, grand larcony (sp?) so it'll be a lot longer jail time than you think, if they are caught.

    9. I'm not sure if this has been said already [and I don't have time to check all of the pages of comments here to see if it WAS], and I'm further fairly certain that the police would be checking this avenue themselves, but... you should keep your eyes on pawn shops in the physical area. If it was a crime of opportunity, the dolls are most likely either going to nieces and daughters of the criminal or to local pawn shops for cash.

      Just suggesting, though I'm pretty sure I'm either 1). not the first, or 2). it's already being professionally pursued by the authorities.

    10. Its not a deal of worth I know, but my old Father (former officer with Osaka Police Dept. and another retired Armchair Holmes - Mycroft that is ;) ) reminds me that good cops never let a single opportunity slip by them, and may well be sifting through the board for the signs which they can read so well.

      I know my Dad regularly reads these himself - I think because this whole business has upset Darren, my big sis and myself so much.

      So, here's to New York's finest (and possibly the Feds as well). Good luck!

      Yuko.

    11. I think that started on page 2 but.. ok ;D

      Hopeful that they will be found. But for those of you unaware, there is such thing as collectible insurance. In fact, there are even multiple insurance agencies. Hoping they have it. Or if they don't, never too late to invest. I highly suggest it for collections of 7 or more dolls... You never know when something could happen.

    12. I've lost tracks for about 20s pages (and was too time-limited to read thru all pages).
      Did someone ever mention the result of running thru the security camera? Did the staff got any clue of the suspect(s) yet?
      Sorry if they're already mentioned somewhere in this long thread. ^^;

    13. Wow, crazy that this happened... The only thing I can think to say is that at least they weren't someone's personal dolls and I hope they get reclaimed soon.

    14. Its amazing how well you can hide precious pieces of art for a long time. All we can hope for is for the person or persons to slip up and for the dolls to bob to the surface, so to speak...

    15. I felt a sharp jerk in my stomach when I read this :(! What an absolutely horrible thing to do... Like everyone else, I really do hope that they turn up! ;_;

    16. Has there been any news to as if any of these dolls have been found/seen? It's such a horrible thing for someone(s) to do. These are pieces of art and nearly 'children' to the artists and creators. I hope the dolls can be found soon and whomever took them served fair justice.

    17. Hi, Everyone . . .

      I've heard from Pat, and as of now the investigations at FIT have yielded no results. Nothing from the security camera tapes, and the staff on duty at the time claim no knowledge of what may have happened to the dolls.

      Sadly,
      ~Bruce

    18. That's quite disappointing. It will be really ironic if Volks had them all along. One can dream. *sigh*

    19. I felt sad upon hearing the staff got no clue on the stolen dolls. ;__;
      I wish the best for the dolls, found or not. Wish them are taken good care of.

    20. Good luck on getting the dolls back and my deepest apologies for them getting stolen.
