*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

It is definitely not a bad idea for any doll owner to keep one eye on their dolls at meet ups and events. This is not the first time someone has done this, just that this way on such a large scale that it shocked us all. I am very sorry to hear about your friend's DoC Wi and hope she was able to recover him. I love those little DoC boys and damn the thief who would steal him away from someone who loved him. >.<
Someone also stole a tiny fairy doll from someone's house during a meet up! Is there no shame for these people that they would steal from fellow doll lovers and friends in their own home???

 

I'd like to point this out -- I don't know if it's been pointed out or not yet, and I'm not going to read through all of this to find out...

But don't you guys think the thieves are probably on this board? And reading this thread? They have no morals, it doesn't make them stupid. They did it, and they got away with it, and they're probably laughing at this thread right now and everyone who's speculating about the dolls. And now that we've mentioned Everything Under The Sun that we would check (ebay, pawn shops, looking for pieces, etc.), if there was anything that they were planning to do, that they HADN'T found a flaw to, we've already done the work for them and have found the flaws and pointed them out.

We're helping them get away with it. Not helping catch them.

Maybe this thread should be closed to prevent the furthering of their knowledge about our knowledge. There is a reason the police keep facts from the media when there's a case going on-- so they don't give away information to the crimials, and that's what we're doing right now.

 

Agreed that this should be closed, but it should be closed because there's pretty much nothing going on with this. Unless there's a real lead to discuss, there doesn't seem to be a lot of sense speculating or saying that this is awful over and over and over again, you know? It's not that I personally don't care (I do, very much, I tore up at the news on Sunday and felt sick and angry for a few days following), but it's that this isn't helping or progressing matters to a fruitful conclusion.

 

I'm thinking the thread should be closed too, or posting access restricted to mods for updates and such; if only because a lot of people here are just posting theories and becoming armchair detectives, which makes it harder to wade through and find any actual information or updates on the situation.
But ehh, just my opinion. >_>

And I don't understand people stealing these one-offs and expecting to get away with it. Because it'd be impossible to keep them unless the dolls would forvver stay in some closet.. never to see light again. Which is sad in many ways.

Where are the pictures of these missing dolls btw?

Vaith I can appreciate your frustration, but what would you have us do? Raid everyone on DOA? Short of calling the Psychic Friends Network I think keeping up this and other threads on the theft actually helps to reinforce the vigilance that is the only thing that may ever recover these stolen items.
Closing the thread and just giving up and forgetting about would be a mistake. It happened only about 5 weeks ago.

Before everybody jumps the seller. Maybe someone can ask the seller if she can make a picture of the head's back. The Dolpha version didn't have a headplate.

I've been looking all over for the pics that were posted of this doll, but I can't find any. Does anyone happen to have any handy? I'm looking out for the dress as well, but I can't remember what it looks like exactly>_>

To be honest I found the faceup very similiar in the auction as in from the one-off. Unless it is the defealt face-up, I'm not familair with Volks.

Maybe it isn't a bad idea report it to Volks anyway.

So did someone report this to Volks? It sure looks like the same wig and faceup to my daughter and me. There are 6 minutes left on the auction!! Help! I can't find the Volks address to send the alert to. I sure hope someone already alerted them to this auction!!!

edit: maybe that means 6 days instead of 6 minutes - I am trying to find the auction thru Rinkya so I can keep an eye on it better.

 

The ears in yahoo japan site looks different compare to the one-off auctioned in NYC so I am do not think it is the one.
The F-22 one-off ears are shorter compared to the the one on YJ. The YJ ones seem to look like the one the MSD F-13 is having.

Also the make up is similar only. I do not think she was the one-off.

It is only my opinion though.

hmmm...they look pretty much alike!
...but then the ears look a lot different if you take a closer look...
but the ears are interchangeable right?..and are the F-22 available to order so soon? the make-up is totally identical though!

 

The ears are different, but the make up and the wig seem so alike to me. Maybe the seller changed the ears so that it wasn't too obious?

 

Thanks for the info on the 6 days left not minutes!! Up too long and I am a bit blurry at best.
The faceup just looks so perfectly the same and the wig looks very close too. If I remember clearly, the ears can be rotated in the side of the head to show the inside of the ear, or the outer smoother portion. Then again the text about the used or medieval times ear seems to imply they are not the ears this doll came with. The Creating Dreams database says the F-22 is Sato only and was released March 15th. So it is entirely possible they are in people's homes in Japan by now. Confusing to be sure, but worth writing to Volks about? What do you think folks??

In the Nifty translation it may say something about not having the box. I can't decipher the part in Japanese though.

The faceup looks very similar to me IMO.From what I can see through the auction pictures (they're very small),even the eyelashes look the same.

Also it's worth noting that another missing MSD,the F21 has the ears that the MSD in the auction in wearing.If this is one of the stolen dolls,and the person auctioning it off is the person who took them,it's -possible- that they swapped the ears.Or if that's not the case,still the ears are swap-able.

The ears are different but they could've switched them with the other MSD elf girl that was stolen. Looking at the ears in the auction photos, they look like they're painted the same way as the stolen F21.
