1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. I've seen DOA users put items for sale on Y!J in a couple instances. I assume they use some kind of a service, or an individual who's willing to post things for them for a fee.

It's possible that the auction was created by someone from Japan who is currently in the US, or by an American who got a Y!J account. Maybe the seller is in Japan and has a friend in the US who went to Dolpa to purchase items for them to sell. Look at the price -- they're clearly out to make a serious profit.

I don't see why having two items from the same Dolpa for sale is cause for concern. If they were in a position to buy one they were in a position to buy the other. (I didn't notice that there was a second outfit there before -- it's late, I was skimming.)

To be honest, I think this is in serious danger of becoming a witchhunt. People want resolution so they're jumping all over anything that looks even vaguely like the stolen dolls. It's not so shocking that someone would be scalping an Irvin on Y!J -- after Masha was released some of them made it to Y!J and sold for a small fortune, as I recall. Since Irvin wasn't available to people in Japan there's doubtless a huge demand on the second-hand market, and selling the doll for over twice the list price on Y!J wouldn't necessarily get the immediate (and justified) nasty reaction doing so on DOA would.

This doll has 2 pairs of eyelashes. Volks usually sells FCS with one pair of eyelashes and from my experience of a huge FCS doll making, I feel this makeup is not usual makeup that is provided for FCS. Even when we ordered FCS with the order "same with this One Off model", Volks always gives lighter makeup. (So I have my own technique to get similar makeup with One Off.)

You can order FCS with 2 pairs of eyelashes, but this technique is not so well known.

    3. The sale of the items that the sellers do not have at their hands is prohibited in Yahoo. Therefore the auction of Irvin is simply the violation against rule. But it is difficult to judge that this doll is the one that had been stolen. Personally I think that it is not good to be excited with only a guess.

    4. Sheri, thank you very much for your reply.

If this seller obtained photo(s) at the beginning of June from the end of May and ordered a doll immediately, this person was able to get FCS with this makeup. (In this case if the seller had obtained photo(s) on June 8, the seller might have been able to receive their doll just recently.)

If this seller has the card "Certificate of Birth", this seller is a true owner of this doll.

This is a picture I took of the display MSd F-22.

The NY dolpa display one offs did not have a head plate. They were signed by artist inside head.

    6. Ehm...I think this.
Because people know that those dolls are disappeared, scammers try to sell copies of them!
They give them a similar make up, wig etc. so maybe someone interested in the Volks Original Dolls (stolen) will secretly buy them at a big price! And in case they will be reported they can say that is a copy not the original!
And about the doll I can't see her 2 pair of lashes O.O

If u look at the right eyes it could seems that she has lower lashes, but the left one is without!

    7. Umm, I'm sorry but I cannot agree with you.
This doll has one pair of eyelashes from the top to the end and another eyelashes only on the edges of eyes.

    8. Awww! Ok, I thought u mean bottom lashes!

    9. um.. so scammers = Volks? Cause from the pictures it looks like a real F-22 with a genuine Volks faceup (similar but to me the eyebrows are quite different).

      Also, after knowing that these dolls were stolen, why would anyone want a similar doll? let alone pay more for it? @.@;;

    10. I was having some difficulty seeing resemblance of the doll from the Y!J auction to Ginarolo's doll photo of the doll that was stolen at NYC Dolpa.

Anyway, I got both photos side-by-side to see any EXACT similarities:

It looks like the Y!J doll had an ear and eye change. The eyebrows looks different because the head of the doll is tilted downward while Ginarolo's photo, the doll's head is slightly tilted upward.

The makeup, wig, eyelashes and eyebrows looks eerily similar to Ginarolo's doll picture.

      It makes me go "Hmmmmmmm."

    11. Wow you're aboslutely right! I was looking for comparison pics but couldn't be bothered putting it together. Thankyou so much Alithea! :aheartbea
Mm, I do have to admit they lookalike, but its best not to assume anything until the seller provides headcap photos and all that :/ I think all we can do for now is sit tight and wait.

alithea: ps. i got booted off MSN XD will continue Cruise bash later :3

    12. Actually I'd sent a question which asks photos to that seller a lot of hours before.
I agree with people who're thinking we need the answer(photo) from the seller.

    13. Yeah, it just makes me think, you know. But then again, the seller of the doll was probably able to change the ears and add more eyelashes and blush the doll some more without knowing that it looks like one of the stolen NYC dolpa dolls.

I just put the two photos next to each other so I can see what resemblance there is. But I don't think the Y!J auction is NYC Dolpa doll that was stolen--it could be just some coincidence!

Yeah--I'm gonna go sleep now. We'll continue the cruise-bashing later! 8D

    14. I must say I agree with you O_O they look so...purposively the same. I mostly do doll faceup by myself and I must say that both of them are 80% similar to the one that was gone missing O_O I don't know...It may be just me, but I do agree with you, Alithéa

    15. Nope, the scammers are the people who want to sell copies of the Volks dolls!
I think that a good customiser could reply the make up, maybe they are just using the same mold (with different ears or something modded). Same for the dresses and wigs etc.!
Well, I think a lot of people would like to buy a One Off, even if stolen. World is not a place of loving and fantastic people...
And I don't think this is the stolen doll, or at least the seller will not be so stupid to send a proof of it with the cap pic! Maybe he will use another cap or similar.

    16. Hey! I just got an email from Volks about the YJ auction doll. Here it is:

      Dear Ms. Sheri Wertheimer,,

Thank you for your email and the information.

We have a message to you from the President of VOLKS, Mr. Hideyuki Shigeta.

      Please read as follows.

------ A message from Mr. Shigeta-----------

      Dear Ms. Sheri Wertheimer,

We would like to thank you for your support for us and our Super Dollfie.

We would like to tell you that the Mini Super Dollfie that you mentioned in your email is not the one that was especially displayed for the Dolls Party in NYC 3 after the careful examination by all staff of the Doll Design Department.

We are really glad and ensured by your consideration to feel the SDs so close as this.

We wish for your continuous and loyal support as ever.

      Sincerely

      Hideyuki Shigeta

      President of VOLKS Group.

So hooray, this beautiful doll is NOT one of the missing Dolpa dolls. I feel so relieved. I think it was the right thing to show them the auction and let their experts figure it out.

    17. Tbh I'm half relieved, half disappointed.I say half disappointed coz I hoped that had it been one of the missing dolls, that Volks would be able to get it back -somehow-.

Ah well.Still keeping the hope alive that someday, the dolls will all be found and will return to Volks. : )

    18. I agree--best to let Volks decide rather than try to figure it out on the boards, and no harm in letting them know about the possibility. Thanks for letting us know.

    19. Yes I am happy and sad too. I wish we could find at least one of the dolls for Volks. But I am happy too that the lovely fairy girl on YJ has no sad secrets in her past. Now she can be adopted and have no worries. She would be so pretty with my Martha (bianka) - I wish I could adopt her myself!

    20. The only thing that's going to make the stolen Irvin different is he won't be coming with his second set of ears. If he was stolen right from the table like everyone says, he was wearing elf ears. Full set Irvin's also come with human type ears. Seeing that Irvin will be shipping soon, and the Int'l site put up an announcement that he's available through FDQ there'll probably be more than a few up for sale.
