1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

*alert* SEVEN DISPLAY DOLLS MISSING FROM NY DOLPA

Jun 8, 2008

    1. Just a thought,is the pearly sheen that's on her ears on any other part of her body?
And if someone could check does the other missing girl have a pearly sheen on her ears?
I checked some pictures but couldn't tell.

    2. The signature says a lot, doesn't it...

    3. i have been following this thread -what drama-anxiously awaiting the outcome. i have looked at all the pictures and the ears of shuritigerh's new doll don't look like the ears of the original doll. they look longer, thinner, and are blushed. they look more like the boy's ears, but no quite the same.
in the end, i don't think shuritigerh should suffer the loss of the doll,as she won it fairly. she loves the doll and will give it a good home.
      best wishes to all involved!

    4. I imagine that Volks would never confirm that it is the stolen doll even if it was, It could possibly lead to encouraging doll thefts as the price of the doll will rocket. It is, essentially, Priceless as it would be the only one of it's kind. This could lead to people 'advertising' it as the one of a kind display doll, and not returning it to Volks.

We could have a crazy new Dollfie black market on our hands.

So I imagine they would never outright tell the owner it was the stolen doll, and just track the seller with the information provided instead.

    5. sleep_pattern: The msd elf dolls were the following:
f22 girl white skin normal ears
f13 boy normal skin long elf ears
f21 girl normal skin long elf ears

Do remember the only thing really to distinguish if the doll is the missing one is the faceup. Headcaps, ears and bodies are interchangeable.

What makes it hard to distinguish if they are the same doll is due to lighting conditions in the hall any of my photos have a bit of yellow cast due to white balance.

I did notice from the closeup of Shuri's doll's ears that they are coated in shinepearl or sparkles. None of the elf dolls in NY had shinepearl on their ears.

And the dolls were NOT originally intended for sale it was after the theft Volks said if they were returned they would be sold to benefit make a wish foundation in hopes that they would find a proper home.

    6. The stolen dolls did not have a head plate. They were signed inside the head.
When you get your batteries charged. Take some more pictures and contact Volks.

      They can identify the doll.

The dolpa doll had dark purple eyes.

    7. That's terrible!!!
It is unbelieve that SEVEN display dolls was stolen at NY DOLPA~
I was shocked when i heard this horrible news

    8. so, If the doll is the stolen doll, whoever is the thief is he/she must know pretty
well about this hobby considering the fact that they have YJ account.
they had everthing planned before they committed the crime. hmm...

    9. I remember hearing the display models DO NOT have identification plates on their headcaps, only artist signatures in thier head.
BUT- It is highly possible the "seller" glued on a "one-off" identification plate and changed the make up a bit to help conceal who the doll really is.
It is also very possible that she is a one-off from anothe (recent) event.
Let us know the outcome, I hope the little dear can stay with it's new owner.

    10. No, it's not, not even on her eyelids.

I shall be writing that email now.

    11. I hope it's ok to post this, but I thought I saw some differences in make up so I enlarged these areas.

Left is ShuritigerH's doll (I'll call her A) , right is the missing doll ( I'll call her B)
      Originals here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3598121&postcount=873
      [IMG]

Several things look a little different:
      - The eye lashes on B start closer to the tear duct than A's.
      - A's eyelashes appear shorter and straighter. (this is more obvious in the full face shots.)
      - A's lip have deeper colour in the centre, whereas B's are more flatly coloured.

Of course, that could just be different lighting...

    12. I don't understand why people are making such a big deal over the face-ups. Yes, you can make more money if you don't ruin the original. But you can always change a face-up.
So the fact that the face-up is a bit different, doesn't really mean much.
Although I am confused with the head plate, as I thought the NY Dolpa's didn't have one at all. But in the end, best to wait to hear what Volks has to say on the matter.

    13. Headcaps (which have the headplate on them) can be switched between dolls. The fact that her headcap has a headplate on it doesn't mean she can't be the stolen doll, since it could just be the headcap (and headplate) from another doll. So the headcap/headplate don't prove anything one way or another.

    14. Who is Ciera?? Is that one of Volks artists?? IF so then this doll maybe the one from the NY Dolpa. The signature is writtten in gold.....very interesting.

    15. I googled 'Ciera Volks' and found that she is a Japanese women who does doll faceup demonstrations for volks,or something like that. So from what I've gather she's a face up artist for Volks.

    16. The face up comparison pics dont show enough differences that cant be attributed to picture quality, angle, and lighting. The face ups to me are very very very similar, so much so that i doubt an artist could reproduce a similar face up so closely

    17. Oh hey,I just found out that Ciera does do one-off models.
I guess that a lot of you already know that, but for those who don't now you do. ^_^U

    18. Yeah, she does do face ups I have a one-off model I won at one of the volks teas awhile ago and Ciera did my girl. She wrote in sliver inside the head.

    19. I just sent the email to Volks. Now we wait:)

    20. ShuriTigerH: I am sorry you have been dealing with this as opposed to enjoying your little girl. I hate to say, however, that I would be very surprised if Volks would take any action over this.
