1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Alice in Labyrinth 1/3 Doll Discussion

Jun 9, 2017

    1. @deathdoll The AIL Normal skin resin colour changed not too long ago- which means that it's no longer the old kind of yellow'ish resin that they used in the past. The new Normal skin for their dolls has a more peachy colour. Not the best photo, but my Minami (Aya) is in the new Normal skin colour of theirs.

    2. Oh my she's so pretty! <3

    3. thanks for your feedback Teddy. It is very good to know that the resin does not yellow considerably after several years.

it's good to know that the tone of these dolls is no longer so yellowish. I prefer shades more toward pink than yellow.
I don't know if I can resist this AIL campaign, I've been dreaming of having a dreaming Alice, Chloe or Elijah for years...

Your doll is so beautiful. I think the customization work you do with her is amazing.

    4. Unfortunately, I don't know if the same is due after whatever change they made when they switched to the new colour. Hopefully it is just as stable as th old versions that I have.

    5. Apologies for the shameless necroing, but has anyone attempted to match a WS AiL head on a Maskcat body after their respective resin changes (I think Maskcat changed around 2019)? If anyone owns both companies' recent work in WS I'd be very thankful for a comparison picture.

    6. I don't have a Maskcat body, but I do have a WS AiL head on a DFH body color matched to Volks WS and it's pretty much perfect.

So if Maskcat is comparable to Volks WS it should be better odds than most for a hybrid.

    7. Thanks @vermaxen this is great news because if I remember correctly, Maskcat white is indeed close to Volks (and so is the new NS).

    8. I just found an Alice head for sale second hand and she is so pretty! I do have a Dollmore Illua body that I would like to match it with. The neck on the body is 9.7cm so it might need some modifying but do you think it could work otherwise?

    9. @Seronil Did you end up buying the Alice head? You should- it's such a beautiful sculpt!
It seems that the Dollmore Illua heads are smaller than the AIL head. The AIL Alice head measures 23cm head, so there is a slight risk that she will look lollipop headed on the Dollmore Illua body.

    10. I think I will buy it either way! I haven't seen that many of them for sale second hand so I think I might regret it if I don't. Seeing some of your dolls was actually the first time I got really interested in Ail sculpts in the first place! They all look so beautiful<3

    12. I did! The face proportions did not work out too well with the body, at least with the current face up. It might look better with a less mature face up to make her more of a big baby style? I think I will be getting her another body that's closer to the body that she was meant for. Funny how she seems to grow on me the more I interact with her.

    13. So much can depend on the faceup in how mature it makes the face look. All but one of my SD size heads are child or very you ng teens and I have trouble finding a variety of bodies that are young/undeveloped enough to work for that. I'd have thought the proportions, in terms of actual size, would have worked well on the Dollmore Illua body (from pictures/measurements I've never seen one in person), so perhaps a you nger faceup would do the job.

    14. I feel you! My main problem with many bodies is that I want them to be quite chunky compared to the average bjd body, as well as not being too mature. I will try to take some pictures of the hybrid when I have time to hopefully give others a reference point. In general I like the Illua body a lot and think that it's definitely worth considering for some childish SD heads!

    15. YES!

      Thanks!

Have you tried the Alice in Labyrinth 1/3 body? I have one of my younger 1/3 girls on it (with a Volks Kujo head), and I've used a couple Volks SD10 BOY body (with the "boy-bits" modded off) as well as the Volks Seirei (genderless SD "angel" body - basically a completely flat-chested SD13 girl body).

EDITED TO ADD: Not a very good picture but the girl in green/blue check is on the AiL body, The girl in red is an AiL Heyley on a Volks Seirei body, and the girl in the dark blue check is on a long limbed SD10 boy body. Otherwise all my 1/3 girls would end up on the standard SD10 girl body and there would be no variety in their height/build.
