All Boys or all Girls????

Apr 14, 2010

    1. I prefer girl dolls. Frilly dresses, adorable curls- I love that I can dress a doll in things I myself would never have the physique or nerve to wear. But I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a boy doll, if I found one I fell in love with.

    2. I'm definitely more drawn to girl dollies. I do, however, want a token boy because guy fashion appeals to me more and I would have an easier time dressing him. The clothes that catch my eye will actually fit him! My problem is, I like my boys to look like boys, and so many msd sculpts out there are too feminine for my tastes.

    3. I like a lot the feminine looking male sculpts. I only have one doll and he's definitely more male in sculpt but it's just not a huge issue for me to have a boy or girl, specifically.

    4. I plan on getting both. My whole dolls are currently just boys. TuT I would really like to get one of my girls sometime next year.

    5. I used to have only girls as well, until I wanted to get Sahara a boyfriend. I thought with him being a boy I might have issues with him being out of my comfort zone or me not being able to dress him, but it turned out that wasn't were it went wrong. When he arrived I immediately knew something was off, there was no 'click' whatsoever. I was too hasty because he was being discontinued and didn't do enough research, so I ended up with a doll that was all wrong for me. He looked horrible with his girl as well! I sold him and was a bit afraid to get a new guy after that. Until AS released the Jeffrey sculpt and I completely fell for him. He was perfect as my OC Julian and instantly made me decide to start shelling all my OC's (they are about 50/50 male/female). I was still scared, because there were no owner pics yet. I think I might have been the first to own a Jeffrey, since I ordered him within a week of his release. But thankfully when Julian arrived, it was love. I actually have a kind of crush on him, but that might have something to do with his character too. Since he is currently my only guy, he gets favoured a bit above the girls actually. And he has the most developed character out of all of them, even more so than his girl Midori, even though she's an OC too.

I do have more difficulty finding male sculpts I like, I fall for girls a lot more easily. But when I find the right guy, that's it. I have plans for a lot more boys now, including a new BF for Sahara. My boys wear jeans, shirts, suits, coats, hoodies and just basically stuff that my girls wear too, because my dolls wear real-people stuff anyways. So I you're sure you love the doll, just go for it. If it doesn't work out, you can always sell. If it does, you'll have lots more shopping-options! ;)

    6. At the moment, I've only got boys. There are a few girls I want to get(ResinSoul Ai, VOLKS SDD Saber Alter/Dark Saber, Doll Chateau Oort), but they seem to keep getting lower priority for me than more boy dolls for some reason. XD;

I don't really think that having a girl in my lineup would really change up the dynamic or anything, though.

    7. Both. I like boys and girls.

      At the moment I have only 3 boys,but I'm planning a girl.

    8. I have been in this hobby for over six years now, and it was not till recently that I got a girl. I have eleven dolls and two on the way, and only one of them is a girl.

Its just hard to impress me with girl dolls, I'm not drawn to the dresses and frills. I need edge and snark. My only girl is the epitome of edgy but beautiful. There are about two other girl dolls I'd like, and about another five boys.

But I have lots of figures, and most of my anime figures are all females ( wearing some sort of armor, and or having bat wings) I don't even watch the animes they are from, if they are based of characters, I just buy what its pleasing to look at for me.

      The same goes for dolls.

    9. I'm more drawn towards girl dolls, but I have one boy and one girl! I'd love to have another girl someday, though.♥

    10. I own much more girls than boys, I don't really know why. My first boy has yet to arrive but I know I will love him as much as I love my girls!

    11. Five - all girls - so far (although one of the heads was originally sold as a male!). Have been assuming that there would be more choice in wigs and clothes etc for the girls, but certainly wouldn't stop me getting a chap if I saw a sculpt I liked!

    12. My dolls can be girls or boys, just depends on the wigs and clothes they wear!

    13. I prefer girl dolls, mostly because I feel more comfortable with how they look. Only one of my three girls actually wears girly clothes while the others refuse to wear skirts or dresses.:sweat It's easier for me to come up with characters that fit a doll if they're female. I'm waiting for my first boy though. He may end crossdressing though, I know I will probably want to put him in pretty dresses!

    14. I started collecting just males, but now have two females.
I will always have more males, but the femailes are great.

    15. not sure if i answered already, oh well :D

my dolls are all girls and will probably stay that way, at on point i considered male dolls but only if they were a particular character, but i'm not a fan of male dolls in general, clothing options for girls is so vast and that for me is half the fun and there is a lot of option varying for photoshoots. plus....girls are pretty, lol.

the one i would consider is a male DD, that would be awesome, finally be able make my favorite male anime character.

    16. I've been in the hobby for around 6 years and have 14 dolls, one floating head, and another doll I will be buying this week and they are all boys. When it comes to dolls I just really like pretty boys. Maybe it's due to having an interest in anime/manga/gaming where there are pretty boys galore, or maybe I just like looking at beautiful males, even if they're not real - I don't know :?

I know there are lots of beautiful girl dolls out there, but with dolls costing as much as they do, I have to choose the ones that really call out to me, and so far, they've been the boys. That's not to say I would never get a girl doll, but as things stand, I would say it's not likely to happen in the near future.

    17. I cannot have only girls or boys, they will be lonely without a heartmate. So I always try to buy dolls which can mate with each other.

    18. I prefer girls (all of the dolls on my wishlist have been girls) and I thought that I'd never get a boy but when I saw thesaraghina's Hasekura I knew I had to have a boy too (he'll probably be the only boy I ever buy though)

    19. Both! I don't think I'd enjoy dolls as much if I had only boys or only girls in my collection.

    20. I prefer a girl since it is easier to dress. All my girl dress and accessories I made by myself.
If it a boy, I don't know how to dress them but would like one in future :D
