All Boys or all Girls????

Apr 14, 2010

    1. i like to have more boys :D
but i have 1 girl ...like in otome games LOL

    2. One boy and one girl..at least. :)

    3. I planned on only having boys since I like having male friends and find them in some ways to be more reliable than female friends, but when I got my first female as a gift I just went with it. Right now it's about an even mix, and somehow none of my dolls are having romantic relationships with eachother which, from what I've seen in this forum, seems to be uncommon. I do call Lumpi my boyfriend sometimes, although he's not dating the doll my sister made of me. They're just roommates.

    4. Congrats on the choice!! I've always wanted just girls, every since I was a kid something about girl glass dolls and their elegant flowing hands is more appealing to me.

    5. All girls for now :)

    6. Boys only. I like some girls on the pictures but I don't want them in my house. I just don't have any ideas for girl characters. Probably one day I will change my mind, who knows, but now I prefer boys.

    7. Girls only. I don't like boys because of the small possibilities, they can't wear as many type of clothes as girls but maybe someday I'll like one boy and I'll bring it home, but for now I like girls better.

    8. I only have ladies and have never wanted gentlemen. But, of course, that's just me =)

    9. I'm at a point where I'm buying the dolls I really want and were attracted to right off the bat, which happen to be all males. There are a few females that I want, but they're not a 'must have' at the moment, they're a 'would like to have.' My grandmother offered to buy me a girl just so I didn't have all boys, haha. A lot of people outside of the doll hobby have asked me why I don't have any girls. I definitely want a girl on down the road though!

    10. All girls. I love my ladies~

    11. I have a girl and I was planning on getting a boy and then I saw a girl I wanted so I'll be getting both :D

    12. I have mostly girls but I do have a few boys. I have four boys right now.

    13. Years ago before I officially got into the hobby I wanted a boy. Now I can't even think of it! I find the girls more aesthetically pleasing to my eye :)

    14. Currently, I only have all boys ; v ; I have plans to get a girl, specifically Little Monica Roselyn. But whenever I see girl sculpts, I'd be like " You would look so good as a boy! " Hopefully I can get a girl doll by mid next year? I'm too packed with dolly plans this year !

    15. I currently have 4 boys and 1 girl, so whilst it's not an outright 'only boys' collection poor Seraphine is going to be outnumbered when my newest 2 get here! I think I prefer males in most things in life - characters, friends, partners etc. That's not to say I have no interest in their female equivalents, it just means if there's both a male and a female sculpt that I like I'll give more priority to the male :sweat

    16. yeah, i have been very tempted to buy a male doll at times (the closest i have is Sugarble Adrian on a female glamor body since the face sculpt is so androgynous).
i am very picky about sculpts in general but extra picky for boys so only 1 or 2 have ever caught my eye. the main thing that prevents me from buying a male doll right now is that my "wishlist" consists of all females, so i always think "he is kind of cool, but that money could go towards the next girl doll..."

this is a tangent but from a psychologically analytic POV i think the reason i collect only female dolls is because all my closest friends are all pretty stereotypical straight guys; at least they have no interest in dolls.
i have no sisters & no close female relatives, i have a really bad relationship with my mom (no female role model there), and when i was growing up i didn't make friends with other girls very easily. i'm even attracted to girls physically yet i only date guys! so maybe my all-female dolls represent the emotional void of not having relatable female role models or however you want to interpret it.

      plus, y'know, they're pretty.

i wouldn't rule out buying a male doll ever, but my motivation for doing it might be different to why i like girl dolls so much. i think it's very interesting that many people only collect one gender of doll; i wonder what that says about them as a person?

    17. So far I've never felt an urge to buy a boy doll, though I'm not sure why that is. They just dont really interest me, I guess maybe because I really like the 'cute' look with dresses and all :P

    18. Mostly girls here! I have two boys (had three, sold one) and would have more but I'm so picky. Too many male sculpts look too feminine for my tastes and I'd rather not have my boy mistaken for a girl. I prefer Iplehouse boys, actually. <3

    19. I have an all male crew. It happened kinda by chance really. For one, the first dolls I fell for were all boy scuplts. The girls were super pretty (a very special soft spot for Supia girls) but they, like some others have said fell on my "nice to have list" but not "must have." I think mostly this might be because a lot of the girl sculpts are more cute/girly vs. mature.

The second was that while I was trying to narrow down which doll to buy, I was adding more boys vs. girls to my must have list. But then I realized that all of my boys would be "single"...lol...and I didn't want them to be lonely. Nothing wrong with a little bromance but I'd love to have another dimension to their stories besides their friendships. None of my guys are homosexual characters per se (although one is a little "open minded" let's say, he would just hit on everyone out of boredom, and another is a little conflicted in his sexual preferences) ...So for a while I stressed out looking for the right partners for my boys (male or female) and at least one female sibling. And then Iplehouse went and halted production on EID girls...lol.

Long story short. At the moment I like the boy sculpts better and the ladies keep being pushed to my "nice to have list" at least for now.

    20. When I first started out, I planned on having both boys and girls. This is strange, because when I write fiction I prefer male characters, however, when it comes to dolls, I've found that I prefer female dolls. I'm not sure why this is completely. I think it has something to do with the fact that there's so many more options when it comes to hair and clothes.

I currently have 4 girls and 2 boys and plans for more of each, but I admit... I like my girls more. (though I still adore my boys!)
