1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel Egg Resin Dolls by Marmite Sue

May 30, 2012

    1. I know this info must be somewhere but I will be perfectly honest that I am too lazy to search forever to find it. I would like to know how these dolls compare in size to other dolls. I have a Popovy Cuckoo and an Enchanted resin doll, the Narin Dandelion and regular skinny MSD dolls and the chubby YOSD dolls and SD. I am thinking they are somewhere between the Popovy and skinny MSD size. Would I be correct? Does anyone have a comparison picture please?

Caracal your doll is lovely and you did an amazing job on the flower tattoo. I love your headpieces. I agree that the lace with cotton thread would be much easier. The metal looks really nice but could you not use Nymo or those other strong beading threads or would they still get cut? I am assuming you use metal thread because it won't fall apart. I must try and do something like this along with my other many someday projects! This would be so time consuming. Can't whip this up in a day.

    2. Thank You again all :)

Shashy: here is a comparison that I took a while ago

I couldn't use normal thread with the metal kokoshnik, because the garnets had such a small hole and I could not get even the smallest needle to go thru the hole. I should have had the needle that jewelers use for making pearl necklace. But now that You mention it, it was actually better to use metal thread, because normal thread would break quite soon I think. ;)

    3. Caracal thanks so much for the picture. It answered all my questions. She looks similar to the Popovy but a little heavier. I didn't think these dolls were this size but now I think I need one. I like these smaller skinny dolls. A blank one isn't that expensive (after buying Popovy and Enchanted Dolls) so I will start stalking their website until I find the perfect one. I want one with some lace but not too much. Also will have to try and figure out what face I like the best. I think I would paint it myself or send it out to some that is really good and does the style I like. On the ED website there was someone that recently painted an ED with painted eyes and made her so gorgeous. I can't remember the name but I am sure you saw it since we all seem to visit the same websites. She had blonde hair.

That at brings me to another question. Can you order them with the eyehole not cut out so they can do painted eyes. I guess it doesn't matter for some people because they just make the painted eyes and put them in.

    4. Shashy, I think you might mean this girl http://www.flickr.com/photos/23899765@N07/11258218125/in/set-72157638452090324
painted by Karina Kolyagina. She is gorgeous! <3

I just managed to scrape through on the last order day...natural body with Classic Noi and Milk faceplates! Spent the money I was saving for a resin Enchanted Doll....oopsie! :)

    5. I finally had time to paint ma second AE doll ^^ Here are Mu and Wu

New body is just a pleasure to play with!

    6. Merrijane, that is the one. Isn't she fabulous. I would love to get her to paint one of these dolls. I will have to start doing some research on this now. You were smart to order one of these dolls. You could be waiting forever for an ED. So many people are and just can't seem to get on with their life and order something else. I guess it is easy for me to speak since I do have two of the ED. These Angel Egg dolls seem much easier to get.

    7. Shashy, I think I've just about given up on a resin ED. It was seeing Caracal's beautiful AE natural body girl on Flickr that tempted me! ;)

    8. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! They are gorgeous! Omg, I love them! Excellent job!!!

    9. Limë - Oh my goodness, your girls look amazing!!! I love how you painted their bodies. I must admit that your girls make me want an Angel Egg resin girl of my own.

    10. Sorry, my answer comes so very late (I haven't been on DOA for a while, too busy in the garden :) ) Shashy: at least quite recently there were faceplates without the eyeholes, but I don't know if she is offering it later too.

Lime, Your newest girl is amazing!!!!! I love both of Your girls, the body painting You have done is so bold! I would be too afraid to use so strong color on my doll, but luckily I can look at Your dolls :). Please, lots and lots of photo spam...

Merrijane: I am glad I could persuade You getting AE doll ;)

    11. Thx everyone!

Dark colors are Ok if you first coat correctly the doll. I only use acrylic paint so it's not transferring :) Here is another pic:

    12. Everyone's girls look fab! My Una is away being painted now. I miss her! But I finally found the perfect ribbon for my Dentelle Ilai today :D. It's such a lovely, rich color silk. I both look forward to and dread taking Ilai apart to thread her ribbons & put her new corset part on.

    13. Do you HAVE to take her apart? Can you not thread her while she is together? I wouldn't want to restring her that is for sure. Good luck!

    14. Yes, in order to put her new filigree corset torso and updated Dentelle arms on she will have to be taken apart. But she's strung just like any other BJD so I don't anticipate too much trouble. *fingers crossed*

    15. Just had to pop in for this: Remember Fabergé, the ~50 cm porcelain girl that had a working carousel in her torso? She'll be cast in resin soon :D How soon I'm not sure. Better start saving those pennies now because I'm sure she'll be awesome!

    16. Wait wuuut. These girls are the same size as a minifee? How did I miss this. I thought they were as big as my ruler, 30cm :O Whoa... well I feel dumb lol.

Edit: Oops, upon checking the website, I understand that the standard size is almost 40 cm and just that dentelle girl is 50cm?

    17. I just discovered these dolls and they are gorgeous. There is definitely a similarity to ED.

    18. Out of curiosity, did anyone order Pink Dentelle the beginning of this year and hear anything about their order? Now that we're well into April, I'm getting kind of antsy.

    19. You can email Marmite Sue for an update on your order. She's really nice to talk to and will respond quickly. But just so you know I've waited as long as 9 months for an Angel Egg order before, so long wait times are not uncommon. Totally worth the wait, though!

    20. Oh my god! I found a new doll for my wishlist! These are just all beautiful-
