1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel Egg Resin Dolls by Marmite Sue

May 30, 2012

    1. Yes I have to second that, an incredibly detailed and poseable work of art, very spendy gorgeous potato chips...

    2. That is very exciting news! I hope she sells the slip to the public, wow I knew this artist was particularly creative

    3. Aaaaand.. I sent an email to be added to the wait list for a doll in the new 'Moonglass' material. >< Too bad these will not be on topic here :( I'm glad Eli is getting caught up & is feeling better. And I'm eagerly awaiting what she'll have for her Christmas exhibition. I wonder if any resin girls will make an appearance?

I'm such a bad doll owner; I never photograph my girls :( Anyone else have some spam they want to share?

    4. I'm a bit confused over what being placed on the waiting list would entail- I mean, what would she be making? One of her previous sculpts? A new one? I am very much looking forward to seeing some finished dolls with this new product, it does look lovely :)

    5. I think I'll be getting one of these ladies next. All the faceplates are so pretty and I can't just decide on one. :(

    6. From my experience, Eli tends to release one or two new face sculpts with each pre order while still offering previous face sculpts. Sometimes faces will be retired when a new ordering period starts. But there's generally about five or six sculpts to choose from. As for the body type- I think every order so far has featured a different body. Either updated joints for the natural body or different or more intricate lace on the Dentelle body. Plus there are new parts you can order to jazz up your existing Angel Egg girls (the Rococo torso part & feet for example). I hope she continues to release these option parts! There really is a lot to choose from when you're considering what you want your doll to look like.

ETA: your Carousel is divine! Love her outfit :) Kitty seems to like her as well!

    7. Ah- that makes sense. Hopefully she can get her site up soon, but I realize things are slow since she works by herself.

Yes- that is my cat photo-bombing. She thinks i desperately need to restyle Carousel's wig. She's right of course...

I hadn't really realized until these pictures how yellowed Carousel has become. Luckily she is still beautiful, I think the ivory cast still works with her "look."

    8. I think your Carosoul is beautiful, Galacticat. And I like the direction your going in with her clothes. Very pretty!

I put my name on the waiting list but could you all help give me an idea of what the price is for one of the dolls? Thank you.

    9. Wow! These dolls are really fascinating! I hope the site for ordering comes back soon!

    10. I received the email today from Eli about the new material. I also plan on ordering one.

However, it makes me wonder if I should take my Angel Egg Carousel off the Marketplace as she will not be making any more resin dolls. I assume the new dolls will be off topic for Den of Angels?

    11. Lostkitten: what??!! Oo she will never make any more resin doll?! She stop the resin line?!

    12. If it's confirmed, that's really some bad news. Did Eli actually write that she'll not go on with her resin line?

    13. I thought the new substance was her idea of making a more durable porcelain?

There is nothing in her blog or in her emails about the new material that says she has discontinued making resin- did you get an email that said that?

    14. Lost kitten - yeah I saw on your sales thread that you emailed her :( it's such a shame - they are such amazing dolls! The posability is fantastic, they are so incredibly light, and the amount of detail is phenomenol! I would love to get a doll in her moonglass material, but I dread to think how much it would cost :( :(

i do think you should keep your girl. They are unlike anything else I have ever held. Truly precious works of art. :)

    15. Here is a copy of the email I received with a link to the message in the blog. Apparently her father (the blog goes on to say he is a chief chemist) developed the new ceramic material for her. I had emailed her about ordering one of the new types. So here is what she said. (Sharon is my real life name) The link will take to the actual announcement on her blog.

      Hello Sharon,
Thank you for your nice mail, and I`m sorry for my late reply.

I`m sorry, I am no longer casting dolls in resin, as I can now produce dolls in a new and beautiful shatter resilient ceramic.
for information regarding this material please refer to my recent blog posts at http://pickled.free.fr/index_en.html.
I will be able to accept orders for these dolls in Moonglass a little later this year, if you like I can keep you updated.

      Thank you,

      Eli Effenberger (marmite-sue)

    16. It's sad that she won't make any more resin dolls. Oh well. I'll be curious to see what 'moonglass' actually looks like.

    17. You can get a good feel for the look of the material used in a doll on her blog if you scroll down to the photos. I am not a chemist but I have worked with porcelain in all forms and with glass too. I think there must be some sort of high fire glass component to the material that will give it not only the characteristics of porcelain but also a vitreous component for a glass like surface. I am sure it will be very lovely. And since it sounds very much like a proprietary or even patented process then I am sure it will be an expensive material to deal with. Having used china paints that must be fired in layer after layer for the desired effect I imagine Eli has had to also develop methods and perhaps even paint to actually adhere to the surface for detailing. I can not wait to see one in the "flesh".

    18. It's sad that Angel Eggs will no longer be cast in resin :( I think that being cast in resin made them accessible for a lot of people who love marmite sue's work, but had little hope of acquiring one of her porcelain dolls. Oh well, I am still excited about the moonglass material even if it is OT here. I'm sure I will appreciate my resin girls even more now that they will not be made again. I'd toyed with selling one of my total look girls, but for now I'll hold on to them.
