Has anyone ever purchased one of her porcelain dolls before? I wonder how the price compares to the Moonglass? I hope the Moonglass looks good with my resins since I ordered one
Ooh I didn't know that! That's really cool! I was wondering if you know; do they come painted? Moonglass is a type of ceramic she said, so I wonder if the face-up and body blushing also have to be fired onto the material. I can't wait to see more pictures of Moonglass dolls! Especially in comparison to the resin of her previous works.
Hi Niiv, they are painted. I wish I could see how one looks next to the resin dolls, as I think the moonglass would compliment my resin angel eggs beautiful. Also, though I really like the 54cm dolls and hope that she might make then in resin in the future. this is from the pre-order information "You will see that all dolls are painted in special Moonglass paints that we developed. These paints are fused to the Moonglass and will not fade or chip. Eyes are painted (the Marmite Sue dolls can however be ordered with glass eyes instead, if wished)."
I ordered a Marmite doll, Buttermilk sculpt, with glass eyes. I want to see more pics as well, plus measurements. I was iffy about ordering- never spent so much on a single doll! But I've never been disappointed by her work, and the price is pretty comparable to certain Volks LE. I'm sure I'll love her .
congratulations renee-chan. I am sorely tempted and like you, I love her work. adding photo to the thread, My little rose recently got a new wig from Neale, who used to make wonderful mohair wigs and is now designing in foam (and flowers) and it fits her perfectly. It is also very light in weight. It is a different look than I have tried before being a mohair wig fan. rosewig by barbhitchcock, on Flickr
Lisianthus, I love that wig. I remember Neale, he was a member of a group I belonged to but it has since been disbanded. He is a fellow Canadian. He made gorgeous mohair wigs. This wig is so different and only a special doll like yours can pull it off. It is so delicate. Looks time consuming to make. So I have finally finished my Pink Dentelle girl with two faces. I have painted the faces and body and yesterday just finished the laceing. That was quite a challenge. Took me hours. It would have been much easier if she had not been strung but there is no way i would have unstrung her. I had to pull her joints out to get the threader in there. That was nerve racking. I was imaging breaking her but she is done and unbroken. I love her but her faces will someday be redone so I didn't put her lashes in. I did a minimal body painting. I like it on her. I will take pictures in a day or two and show you guys. I had taken some pictures of her before but I like her better in person. I can magnetize her face too much so then I can sell all the details I don't like. I don't know why I do that to myself. I should add I wasn't sent enough ribbon for the doll so her feet had to have silk ribbon I had here thank goodness. If I had made all the bows very small I might have had enough but no measurement were sent with the ribbon. I have no idea where to get the ribbon she used and there is no way I will take the ribbon I put in for different ribbon. Did I mention how long it took? Haha i can't wait until people get the Moonglass dolls. I would like to know what everyone thinks of them compared to resin or porcelain. Unfortunately with Moonglass you would not be able to paint your own doll. I am not sure I like the look of it. It is kind of fantasy looking. I am not sure what I should call it.
Sashy, I would love to see your painted face-plates when you are ready. I think I remember that you got a Milk faceplate and one more. I think the milk face is my favorite now. I have that face on my pink dentelle. I should have tried to get one additional, but didn't.All the work you are putting into your doll is a labor of love. I know that I could never attempted a face-up. It isn't a skill that I have. I can knit with thread but paint seems very out of my comfort zone. I do hope that Eli will continue her resin line, at least for occasional pre-orders. I love Neale's mohair wigs on my resin girls. I wasn't sure until I put the new wig on Little Rose that I could use something other than mohair but I'm happy with how it looks. Barb
There are two things I am wondering about. On the website, there seem to be a few heads left in stock, but no bodies. If heads are purchased separately do they come with a head back? And the other thing is, does anyone own or know of a hybrid of an Angel Egg Doll head/ body with party from another company? I looked for pictures but couldn't find anything. I am tempted to grab up a Milk face plate..
I actually bought a milk plate, she is so pretty. But no, they do not come with head backs. as for hybridising, it's going to be hard. Popovy look a similar size. As do enchanted doll. But Popovy don't sell bodies separately and resin ed's arent sold new. Serenade might be interesting to look at, but they are much taller than ae. Hope someone else can help more
Thanks for the info GlossReality! It makes things a little more difficult without a head back. Finding a body size and shape to match is probably less of a problem then finding a resin match. Ah well. Maybe someone has some tips? Anyway, I was looking through previous posts on her website and I came across the pictures of Basic Dentelle again. I wonder if Eli will release a basic version of her once more.. that would be a dream come true But I am rely looking forward to seeing more picture or owner pictures of the moon glass dolls!
The website is outdated- I know sometimes it shows things to be in stock, but in fact, everything from her resin line has been sold out a long time. I have seen some hybrids- but can't point you to any pictures- She has said she is not making any more resin- but maybe she will change her mind some day...
So I painted up a Carousel horse for Carousel to sit upon- you'll have to excuse her for not wearing her lovely crown- she forgot to put it on before leaping up there! I had actually made one first from a breyer (like the one she is displayed with in one of the Marmite Sue photo shoots) but it actually looked too small for her, so I found this guy and fixed him up as her steed with a bit of sanding, painting and gluing- I think it works!
Thanks! Actually it was just a big ugly plaster horse that I found, sanded down and painted- but it works pretty well!
Thanks! Did anyone see the new Marmite Sue Angel Alice doll? She is soooooo pretty! Marmite sue seems to be casting her in Moonglass and a new material called "Shell" right now- not sure if it is like resin or not, but the doll looks gorgeous. If I hadn't already ordered one of her dolls in the new material, I would totally order her!!!!
Galacticat, I love the Alice doll too! I'm seriously considering selling my resin pink Dentelle in order to buy one!
