1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel Egg Resin Dolls by Marmite Sue

May 30, 2012

    1. I know she is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had something to sell to get her! I just love the details on the backs of her legs, and her shoulder- and her corset piece. Just exquisite!

I thought this was interesting too (from her blog)

That is pretty great news- so anyone who missed out on a corset or shoes- can order them in Moonglass- and it will fit the resin line!

    2. I love the new doll and the new materials, but waiting 1 year for them is something that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I know that each doll is a piece of art and requires a lot of time to be finished and perfect, and I'm sure that they will worth the waiting time, but...I'm not sure =_=u

    3. Well since she makes everything herself, and given the level of detail in her painting, I can actually see why the process is so slow. I probably would hesitate too except that her reputation is so great. And her dolls really are more like works of art than anything else.

She even fixed the doll that I bought from someone else for free, when it was damaged in the mail to me (except the cost of shipping). I think fixing damaged resin is probably why she finally switched to this new material- it sounds like it will be a bit stronger and less inclined to chip (or have the joints break out). I do really like the spring loaded joints too- if only they weren't so much more expensive!

    4. Her reputation is great and well deserved; Eli's always doing her best to help or find a solution should a problem arise with her creations.
As many of you I'm also very excited by her new line. I've ordered Lan in Moonglass and couldn't resist Alice in the Shell material. Totally unwise for my wallet though. A year is very long but I think she'll be worth it.
By the way Galacticat, Carousel looks awesome on her horse. Fantastic job. I love it!

    5. Thanks GuyFawkes! I actually ordered Lan too in Moonglass- I really want Alice but I'd prefer her in Moonglass so I need to wait to see if I can afford her, alas!

I am very eager to see what new accessories Eli comes up with! She's so creative with her dolls-

    6. Alice is stunning! If I hadn't already sprung for a moonglass Marmite doll I'd be all over Alice :)
Good to know the new accessories will fit the resin girls. The long wait is nerve wracking, but well worth it. I can't wait to get my girl!

    7. Bringing this thread back since I will soon have my own little Angel Egg doll from the MP :). I'd love to see more photos of these beautiful, unique dolls! And while they are just lovely unclothed, I'd like to sew some little corsets and short skirts for my girl... Any advice on similar size dolls, or patterns that might work for her?

    8. I should take some more pictures of my dolls- I have never found particularly satisfactory clothing for any of them, it always seems to clash or interfere with the aesthetic of their painted ornamental bodies, but I am ALWAYS looking and trying things on...

My new doll comes in September! (although I know Eli often has delays I really hope they are finished on time!)

    9. I noticed that there are some faceplates still available for sale on the Angel egg site. My incoming doll has the older Dentelle body, I think (she's the Rose Total Look Dentelle)-- would these newer faceplates work with this body? I'm not too concerned about color as long as they would fit okay.

    10. Actually- there actually aren't any resin faceplates available- she just has not updated her site in AGES. However, you can email her to get her current pricing/list for Moonglass dolls. She doesn't appear to be selling any accessories quite yet though although I know that is her plan...

She plans to make the accessories in the same size so they will fit our resin girls.

    11. I wondered about those faceplates and figured it was outdated information. I think I got one of her last resins dolls with two faceplates. Maybe I should have got more. I did paint the faceplates but not totally happy with them. I like my body. I kept it simple with just blushing and the ribbons. What a pain that was getting the ribbons in and then I didn't have enough ribbon for the feet so did just plain silk ribbon I had. She really should have sent more ribbon because once it is in you will not be taking it out. I am too lazy to try and track down where I can find that ribbon she uses. My doll was one she had planned on keeping for herself and then decided to sell it. I am not sure I like the Moon glass. I wish I could see it in person. Also she has to paint it so people would not be able to do their own like with resin.

    12. Any news from ELi and the first batch of dolls due shipping this September?

    13. I haven't heard from her- since she is usually late with all of her dolls, I wouldn't be surprised if this batch were late.

    14. I would love to know what people think of the moon glass. I love my resin girl which I did paint and can change, from what I understand the moon glass she has to paint. If that is the case I would rather have porcelain.

yesterday I changed the faceplate and wig on my girl and now I feel like I have a whole new doll. I love that option. In hind sight I wish I had ordered a third head but my order was a rush order when she told me she had some of her dolls for sale. I was so lucky to get one. It was the last of her resin lace bodies. It is a great doll but I wish the hands were a little bigger. They are beautiful but kind of small.

    15. Well I emailed her last night- and the dolls are indeed running a bit late. She is or has sent out a public email to everyone on the list- but thinks they will be ready to ship in a month or up to 6 weeks.

I am totally not surprised. I love her dolls but they always take longer for her to finish than she expects- every time. It's worth the wait though- I'd rather have to wait a bit longer than have a doll that looked rushed or had issues...

    16. I can't wait to see the moon glass! Will these dolls be on topic? I would love to get one someday.

    17. I wish they would be on topic but there are such strict criteria that I am pretty sure not, alas. I wish there were another board to talk about the almost-but-not-quite on topic dolls- or that DOA would relax some criterias.

I know there are a few places to go, but they generally are recast friendly which I object to, so I don't want to resort to somewhere like that :P

    18. I agree about the recast issue. It is theft from an artist who makes very little to begin with. I also think DOA could be a little more lenient on some issues like this. That is what causes people to leave here and start new groups that just don't last sometimes. I feel the Main topic for DOA should be BJD and if they are made of something different, who cares. For example we can talk about Enchanted Dolls by Marina Bychkova in the resin but not her porcelain. I like both so would want to talk about both even though I only have the resin ones. The moon glass is very much the same issue.

    19. I emailed Eli about how the new dolls are coming along. Aaaaaand they're late, no surprise there. To tide me over I've been playing around with my Dentelle Ilia- the only girl I have that is totally blank so I don't have to worry about the blushing rubbing off. I agree I wish there was a forum that was more art doll slanted to include porcelain BJD but not recasts. Maybe there's one out there that I haven't found. Is The Joint still around? But IIRC it was focused on BJD construction rather than general discussion. I've been thinking of starting a facebook group but I don't really want the hassle of administrating it. Who knows, maybe DoA will branch out a bit- it's just so huge now I imagine it's pretty expensive to run.

    20. Ah, another delay. Such a bummer, although not surprising given the brand new material. I hope the first round really is finished before the end of the year- I'm so eager to see them :)
