Angel of Dream - 90cm - Ni, Bo & Primo

I have to have one of these. This is amazing! Hahaha! XD

 

Hahaha i have a mysize barbie lol. If anyone in Southern California ends up getting one I'd be glad to partake in it out of curiousity too! XD

 

Whoa. Now I want one. I didn't before, but now, with the image of a cute lil puki controlling him from the inside, that's just... I want one. No, I want three, and the Riders would have competitions. Or if more than one person did it, we could have meets and have random competitons between riders... or make an Eva photo story with a little puki Shinji.

I'm never going to forget this idea O.o

 

When I saw Jergis' page I felt extremely sad. Not just disappointed, really sad. I love werewolves and I've been holding out for a werewolf BJD, but I will not and cannot spend any money on Jergis. He's too tall, his human head is far too feminine, his changeling head is bizarre and his wolf head...no. Just no.

I can't help feeling that Soom would have done it far better, but they aren't likely to now, out of fear of copying. Cheers for ruining my dream, AoD

 

90 cm. . .*sweatdrops* Um. . .I wouldn't buy one. . .but. . .I sure wouldn't mind seeing one in person...I like the Mecha Angels myself. . .but 90 cm...I'm like. . .um. . .160 give or take myself. . .so yeah. . .a doll that's like up past my hip. . .no thank you. . .70 or 80 cm I could probably deal with though. . .I also don't like the head molds much. . .

Unfortunately Jergis lacks the polish and sophistication of the SOOM dolls. The facial sculpt is out of proportion and appears odd to my eyes, the body is too thin and gangly for the visual weight of the Wolfman parts, and the limbs should change from the elbows and knees down, not the wrists and ankles. The switch to claws is too abrupt and not appealing. I suspect Jergis doesn't stand well in his wolf form w/o significant help. Who's big fat hairy idea was it to paint the hands and feet brown and the wolf head black and grey? Gosh that's jarring. It's like he stole the head from someone else.

I'm not terribly thrilled about the Nicole either. Other than looking suspiciously like Angelina Jolie, the sculpt is kind of crude and off kilter. And what is up with that costume?!? Holy cats, that thing is awfully ugly! Their clothing designer needs some fresh ideas. Ugh.

I know, I know, price point and all, but still. Sheesh, I am disappointed, and only on DoA can I say that and why. I belong to their yahoo group and I'd be crucified if I uttered a single critical sentence.

 

I really want Ni as my first Doll, but I don't know when the optional hands will be available.
I also adore the body (aside from their necks), and with luck, I can go shopping in the baby/small children's section for his outfits... Though, people would look at me weird carrying a 3 foot doll with custom (from halloween tights) striped armwarmers and legwarmers... And THANK GOD he comes with underwear... or else I'd be dying.

I wish there were better face sculpts for the 90 cm, or else I would definitely get one eventually.

 

This is sad, I own an AOD doll and he is GORGEOUS, but these 90cm, are just, ugly... No offence to them but gosh, they are way to big and their sculpts are not the greatest. They looked scary, really. But I feel kind of sad because people are hating on AOD and don't like the other molds, which some are a pretty. My Aki is just amazing and people are amazed when they hear he's an AOD doll because he's so pretty and lifelike.

 

I find the idea of a 90cm doll highly interesting but he'd need to be alone. (Excepting My Size Barbie, of course. lol.) I actually don't hate their sculpts. Bo is rather regal, though I think his eyes are a bit too girly for the rest of his face. There seems to be an attempt at making their sculpts more refined. Also AoD dolls tend to look better in person with better face ups and styling. I do love my AoD little guy despite the fact that he isn't as elegant as my big dolls will end up being. They have their own charm.

I do think they went overboard copying Soom with the werewolf's sale page. Even a lot of the poses are the same as IO's. Using their format as inspiration is one thing, but this is just too much.

Oh and yeah... no-clothes??? I wonder if they are planning a line or where to get his shoes etc... surely he wouldnt fit the regular SD range??

 

I am seriously thinking this is in direct competition with SOOM's Mecha Angels. Any agreement? SOOM was saying on their website "Biggest BJD in the world"...don't suppose they can say that now. XD It really is half a human's size. 2 feet, 11 inches. 180 CM is between 5 and 6 feet tall. Ohjeez.

I do like the look of him but thats a LOT of resin to handle... and I sooooo cannot see my husband allowing me to replace Suomy (Unoa Lusis) on my bed-side table with Primo or Bo... I think he might be a little intimidated... hehehe

 

[SIZE="-10"]I have to say that Primo is actually quite appealing to me. I doubt I would ever even want a doll that big, but I like his sculpt. Much better than Bo and Ni, in my honest opinion. Though I do like Ni's sculpt as well. I won't say that Bo is ugly, it's just that I don't find his sculpt appealing, which is fine because other people might!

I'm very happy and excited to see Angel of Dream growing. I bought my first doll back when the company first opened last year, so they've definitely made progress. It makes me proud and I really wish that everyone would stop criticizing them and putting them down when they compare them to Soom. Tastes differ all of the time. Some people may prefer Soom, some may prefer Angel of Dream, but that's no reason to say that one is better than the other and that you'd never get anything from one because they're trying too hard to be like the other. That's personal opinion and not fact because not everyone thinks the same.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with a bit of competition every now and then. The world would be a boring place if there was no competitive spirit.

Angel of Dream obviously wants to establish themselves as a contender on the doll company playing field and they've set their sights high. I'm hoping to see them continuing to grow and doing great things in the future.

I like his looking better than Bo & Ni. As AOD is known for providing good standing ability, I guess they just took this challenge of 1/2 scale and managed to get acceptable results?
Also, they have said that they were preparing the outfits for their big boys.

(I agree with Forbidden, there's already a thread talking about AOD & SOOM, can't this thread named 'Primo 90cm' just discuss about the doll itself?)

Forbidden: Its really cool that you've seen their company grow from the start, I only stumbled accross them when I was looking for a bod for my Castle Anne Head late last year.... I do remember the flack some people gave them for their logo and such, but from my limited experience in the hobby, the beautiful dolls speak for themselves

I've only had AoD minis and they were awesome posers so if thats something to really go by I'd love to see one of these guys in some Gallery pics!! I like Primos eyes, I'm not sure if the Face-up is to my liking but I reckon he could smoulder!!
