1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel of Dream (AOD) 1/4 size discussion thread Part 2

May 15, 2007

    1. yes, sorry about the confusion. I was speaking to you to say that The_Modern_Maiden found that....

My boys, Moswen & Jaiseki (Chi & Min), are from 2008 and are the old bodies (which I love). I was disappointed to find out they stopped making tan as I have a tan Min head (they'd screwed up my free head colour when I originally ordered Moswen) but no body for him. I do know who his character is, but he'd require the old style body in tan, neither of which is available *heavy sigh*. I'd heard that the Doll-Love tan is the same as they're sister companies (I think), but the Doll-Love boy body has much less muscle definition (I have one so it was easy to compare the two).

Somebody earlier in the thread thought they heard about one of the sculptors leaving and that was why they'd had to change their heads and bodies, but I don't know for sure about that.

    2. Loving the wings Iron_Dog! very cool

LaBelle, Sorry I hadn't realized that you had an older sculpt like that. :S Looks like your best bet now is to find a measuring tape. :S

    3. Iron_Dog: I wish you the best finding a good body for your head so you can finish his character. Your Min is lovely though and the wings are wonderful.

Mysteriousmage: No worries. I didn't realize the sculpts had changed till I looked at the site and it was pointed out to me so I never thought to mention he was an older sculpt. Measuring him isn't that big a deal anyway :)

    4. The wings were done by Flight of Icarus here on DoA. The peacock feathers don't look nearly as nice in photographs as they do in person (and my camera hates me *sighs*). I'm getting the to point where I'm contemplating selling the tan Min head as I'm almost positive I won't be shelling that character since his lover is equally hard to come by since Leeke stopped offering dolls all the time (his partner would be a Leeke WS Wein). And I've got... a few *mumbles23mumbles* dolls so really shouldn't be adding more as I'm running out of room for everybody. Not to mention making my wallet weep.

    5. Iron_Dog: Bummer that AoD has discontinued the tan! Maybe you can ask for it still? I know RS dosen't give dark tan as an option because it can marble, but if you email them they will give it to you. From what I remember I think I've seen a tan boy floating around the marketplace. maybe you can check it out! I hope they bodies they have stay tall!

The_Modern_Maiden: you actually might want to back off a bit. I know you want answers to your problems, but bombarding them with emails probably wont help too much, it will just make them want to respond less. From my experience it takes time to work through problems with companies, you need to give them some time to think it over and let them know what your open to as far as solutions are. If a sculptor did leave then they might be scrambling just to make ends meet at the company, harassing them wont help there issues or yours. Though I do still hope that they can pull some strings for you to get the muscular bodies.

    6. The tan has been removed as a choice on the site. Disappointing to also note that they seem to have re-designed the male's... package and it's not as... generous as the old body. I know tan has some issues with marbling, but they really had done a nice job of it before. I hope they choose to bring it back at some point.

    7. Kavarr - wow, wonderful sculpt and faceup. Really digging him and that white wig really makes it pop too, very cool :)

As far as all the measurements go, I only recommend estimating things with the company measurements. For whatever reasons, those measurements seem to be inaccurate for a lot of dolls in bjd world. If you have a doll in-hand, it's definitely always best to measure your actual girl/guy. Case in point is my Shajia and Qing 1/4 AOD heads. Both simply say 7-8 size wig on AOD's details. But one of their heads is much smaller than the other and they fit the same wigs much differently. I actually would have looked for some wigs that tend to run small or big for their 7-8" sizing specifically had I known ahead of time.

For the best fit on stuff, measure yourself & you'll be much happier in the end :)

    8. Thank you Dove_Heart.

I don't think they will fix the muscular body, or the wrong colored head, but they (of anything) might send a white AB402 body.
They asked what I wanted them to do, and I told them, but they haven't responded.
I ordered in December, received in January, been waiting for answers all of February, March is coming and I feel like I'm not worth their time.

    9. The_Modern_Maiden: They've got 50 other orders to deal with on any given day... I'm sure they're sorting things out and seeing if/when they can accommodate your request for a new body. Heck, the way some replacement heads and stuff go from companies like this, you might not hear from them ever again, but randomly some day in late march or early april you might get your body in the mail. It may not be worth their time to respond and may only fuel further questions after they fail to keep notifying you about updates.

E-mailing 2x a day might only annoy them and cause them to delay your request. Pretty sure you've already soiled their reputation enough to where they might not feel like helping you anymore. And I have no idea what your legal rights are to pursue a replacement or anything like that since they're overseas.

Time and time again, in the end, you'll catch more bees with honey.

In the meantime, keep searching for that muscular body you were hoping to get. Have you placed a WTB in the MP yet?

    10. Asyris,
I know they're busy, and have other things to deal with than an old order they may or may not be able to do anything about.
I am not trying to soil their reputation.
I have liked AOD's BJD's for years, and have tried to decide which of their sizes and sculpts I liked best.
From reviews and comments on the old web site, now the new, and here on DOA, I though they were wonderful.
I tried to make everything easy to understand, and they OK-ed my request before I ordered.
After I ordered, waited anxiously, they finally arrived, and I questioned why it wasn't right.
The face-up's weren't what I ordered, the two body's were not what I ordered, and one free head is off colored.
Maybe it was an odd batch of yellow, in person it's almost a peach color, not white, not yellow.

They did pierce the ears, open the eyes of the sleeping head, and Chen is male.
They didn't say they discontinued the muscular body, when I asked before I ordered, but only after I received my incorrect order.
I am still not trying to soil their reputation, only stating facts of my first experience with them personally.
I do intend to buy more dolls from them in the future, now knowing exactly what body's are currently available.
I intend for any of my future orders to be bought one at a time, without face-up.

I'm sure my legal rights are slim to none.
Buying any BJD's at all, except for possibility eBay, it takes longer to receive than PayPal can cover you.
It is overseas, there is a language barrier, and it is a risk.
They weren't lost in transit, or damaged, I just didn't get what I paid for, I got two unexpected body's.
It's not all bad, the body's themselves are great, they just weren't what I wanted at this time.

Overall, mistakes happen, I understand that, but if you mess up, fess up, and fix it.
If it can't be fixed, I'd purchase a white AB402 body for my Li Ge eventually, new or secondhand.
I have made a WTB thread for a muscular yellow body, and intend to get one before doing anything about other body's right now.

    11. The_Modern_Maiden: I think you're right to keep after them since you clearly didn't get what you paid for (boy bodies). That's a pretty big screw up right there (as opposed to say forgetting to pierce the ears for example). Emailing them every day will likely make them ignore you but you really do need to keep on them or they will never straighten things out. It took close to 6 months for me to get the right skin tone free head and that was with one of their then dealers bugging them on my behalf so.... And that was back in 2008.

AoD has consistent communication problems when there is a mistake made on their end and it's been a years long thing with them. Sending the wrong bodies is a pretty large error on their part and I know if I'd ordered a boy body and gotten a girl body, I'd have been furious and wanted them to correct the problem ASAP or at least acknowledge that they had made the error and were in the process of fixing it. I wish you the best of luck in getting this straightened out.

    12. Thanks but I feel like I'm beating a dead horse.

I still have a little shred of hope that they will someday send me a white AB402 body.
In the meantime I want to get a yellow muscular body and wait it out.
If it's been a really long time I may get a white AB402 body somewhere.
I planned on getting another two girls, but with this white body, I'd only need to get a yellow skinned one someday.
I think next time I'll just go with a dealer or eBay or the marketplace here rather than directly threw AOD.
I don't know if it will be better, but I hope it wouldn't be worse.

So for now I'm just "Wishing and hoping, and thinking and praying, planning and dreaming" ha-ha, anyway I'm waiting.
      Sorry about that...:sweat

    13. Oh I totally understand how they mixed it up and how frustrated I'm sure you are.
I was just trying to help reinforce your hope, but also guide you towards relaxing just a little bit and hopefully not overwhelming them.

I'd instead put more of the effort into pointing out to future buyers how ordering from a dealer such as Happyhouse4u.com is a much better option than ordering direct. I hate seeing anyone report that bad things happened with their orders, especially direct from the company.
I bet a dealer is sure to get much quicker responses from AOD than a single customer too.

Heck, there's an idea. It might not hurt to shoot Happyhouse an e-mail just to see if they might be able to help you out at all.
Maybe promise them that you'll order a doll from them in the near future to sweeten the pot ;)

The worst they can do is just reply that they're unable to help with orders that they didn't place, afterall.

Oh, they might be a great place to ask about that muscular body too. Maybe they have one in their stock laying around by some slim chance??? (if they keep stock, that is)

    14. I actually sent HappyHouse and some eBay dealers some emails asking about the old body I like.
HappyHouse has yet to respond, and the eBay dealer was questionable/fishy.
The eBay dealer insisted that the web site I went threw aoddoll.net wasn't an official dealer, but the eBay seller supposedly is.

      WHOO!

Notice: this JUST hit my email right this minute:
"Can you pay the shipping cost? You can keep the girl body."

I am thinking - "Um, yeah? Don't think I should have to, but paying shipping price for a "free" body, OK!"
Looks like I might get a white AB402 body after all!
Don't want to push it but I want to ask if the have any "old" boys in stock, but don't want to confuse or anger them.

    15. Congrats!

Take the offer and run, lol. I wouldn't do anything whatsoever that might confuse them now.

    16. Asyris
I told AOD I would pay with PayPal and they need to tell me how much.
I am patiently waiting for an answer/reply.

I found a few sellers for a yellow muscular body on eBay, in the marketplace, and a dealer here on DOA too.
To be honest, I think I'll go with the dealer.
Used body's aren't a big deal, but one is from a smoking household, the others have minor issues, nothing too bad, it's just what I decided to go with.

I am excited to finally be in the process of getting the correct body's for my boys!

    17. Congrats Maiden! Glad to hear that they are going to get you a new body. The price of shipping is not too bad considering having to pay for a new body and shipping.

    18. Maiden: Yea seriously! Shipping isn't too bad at all considering your getting a free body out of it! I'm happy things are working out for you!

Wouldn't that be a strange twist of fate, that the Aod.net is really a false company, which is why the stuff keeps changing.

    19. 3/3/2013 Updates so far:
AOD told me shipping will be $20 and I paid it!
So, waiting for Harry's white AB402 body to arrive!

Also, I bought two new 2010 yellow skin muscular male body's in old stock from catw07 here on DOA!
She also had 2010 Min and Chen heads to go with them.
They will be shipped on Monday, so I'll be waiting for them too!

I got two muscular body's so I can tattoo one for Gene, and the other can be Ron's.
Plus with them being discontinued, I couldn't pass that up.

I'll wait until I see their faces, but one head will be Ron, the other will be Fred!
Gene will have a muscular body, and Fred will have the yellow AB402 that Gene currently has.

Overall I am happy to have random heads and body's coming together.

By the end of these transactions I'll have these at home:
Melfina - 2011 Pink Girl Ming Ya Que Opened eyed head bought secondhand (My first BJD)
Gene - 2010/2012 Yellow Muscular male Chen
Harry - 2012/2013 White AB402 male Li Ge
Fred - 2010/2012 Yellow AB402 male Min or Chen
Ron -2010 Yellow Muscular male Min or Chen (Harry's Older Brother)
(MelB/Melba) White Girl body that may wear the free odd colored head until I eventually get a white head for her
One sleeping eyed Ming Ya Que yellow skin head - Meant for Melfina but she's actually Pink
One opened eyes Ming Ya Que "Yellow" skin head, off colored - Meant for Melfina, but may become MelB's
One pair of Yellow High heel feet - Meant for Melfina but she's actually Pink

      Leaving me these to obtain:
      Jim - B&G Sharon
A Yellow AOD Rao to be a new Melfina, and my current Melfina will be renamed, and become a "Tag-Along" BJD for me.
A White head (undecided sculpt) for MelB/Melba's body
Possibly Aisha in AOD Chi sculpt white skin, dye it tan/brown, modify the ears, and add a magnetic tail?
Maybe someday a Suzuka in Pink skin, undecided AOD sculpt.

      Rethinking skin colors:
Or maybe have Suzuka in white skin and MelB/Melba in pink, but leaving the new Melfina in Yellow?

      That's all for now!

    20. Glad to hear that you were able to get some bodies! Looking forward to seeing them all put together.
