1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel of Dream (AOD) 1/4 size discussion thread Part 2

May 15, 2007

    1. Wow, another great color match, he looks totally handsome :3
And well, speaking about eyes: has anyone tried DG.LW eyes? Their tricolored eyes look so sweet, I love the pink-and-blue ones in the promos, but I'm extremely unlucky with any eyes purchases, cause their colour turns all wrong irl, and my monitor is carefully calibrated, the promo colours are messed up. The most notable example are these LUTS eyes, they're pretty dark in promos but turned out very pale pistachio.

    2. aww thanks Aira! Your girl Rika is looking very cute! Sorry I can't help you with the eyes... I havent tried too many different kinds yet. ^^;
Kammari: Mycha is very handsome. I love his long blue hair and eyes! The two tones are very cool.

    3. Hi - can anyone advise on the best dealer for AOD? Alice's Collections sells them slightly cheaper than the "dollonline" store on ebay - but the ebay dealer says there may be additional duty charges. Or - could purchase from AOD - of course I'm looking for best shipping rate and most reputable. I'm in the US - any suggestions or help is appreciated.

    4. I would recommend going through Happy House. They seem to be very reliable. Many of us have ordered directly from AOD and have had nothing but problems from them. Alice's Collections might not be too bad either. But I haven't heard of any one ordering from them. I know for sure Happyhouse4u.com does a really good job of getting dolls out to people. But all i can say is for sure DO NOT order directly from AOD. Unless you want to keep bugging them and bugging them to get your items. They are not very good at communicating with their customers.

    5. +1 on www.happyhouse4u.com !

My order through them went very smooth and much faster than ordering direct from AOD too.

    6. Happyhouse/Alice's. I got mine thru Happyhouse, everything was perfect. Well, maybe except shipping fee, but hey, they are in Taiwan and I'm in Russia, guess it can't be helped. A couple of people from our forum ordered their dolls thru Alice's GO with accessories' $100 free shipping, and were quite pleased too, but our AoD discussion thread states the fastest way to get the doll is ebay.

    7. Lovely eyes they look great!

Your boy is very cute and I like the blue hair too!

    8. Thank you all for your recommendations. very helpful and will stay away from AOD - I'd like to go with ebay - dolls are cheaper too, maybe I can get them to give me final quote including duties. I hate thinking there will be an additional charge that will pop up. Much appreciated all.

    9. You are welcome Ellowyne3. Wish you good luck with ordering your doll(s)! for sure let us know how things go and post pictures too!~

Kavarr: Your Lividian's look is really cool. He pulls off that wig and outfit really well!

    10. Thank you. I certainly will. I have an AIAI now, with face up by Bob Severns of Two Spirit Dolls, but want another one who will look even more "brooding." Bought her at the UFDC convention last year in New Orleans. They're only single jointed, so posing isn't special, but she is a solid little doll that stands well, with or without stand and adapts so beautifully to all the Monique wigs with a new personality each time. She's prob. OT for this size since she's YO, but love, love love her. She should probably be posted in the Tiny size section.

    11. Lividian is wonderful! When I was buying Mycha, I was very torn between Chi and Yo~ Chi has that cute little smiley vampire mouth which is sooo adorable. Love the wig you've chosen for him~

    12. Glad you like my little guy :) I first put him in a white wig then I saw the black and white on ebay and just loved the look of it. It's very long but it seems to suit him.

    13. The Chi is a wonderful sculpt but I'm heavily biased there as I have one and he's my favourite out of all my dolls. Moswen is a tan Chi from 2008. AoD has changed the sculpt slightly since I bought him.

    14. oooo very cool! I'd love to go to a convention and see bjds. none to close to me though. Well once you get a msd sized AOD then you'll have to snap a pic of them together and share. :) glad to hear that she stands so well though. I've had trouble with my two. :P

Kavarr: He does look very cool. hehe. You manage to make him manly looking... been trying so hard with my boy. haha. I thought it was the wig, but your boy's is even longer. hmm... oh well just got to keep trying.

    15. You have done a great job with all his elaborate markings. Those purple eyes look great too. He looks so different with tan skin. Lividian is white skin so totally the opposite. Also your boys fangs look more noticible but that could just be the colour making them more obvious.

If he is on his own he looks more mature but if he is with my other dolls he looks sort of childlike as the all tower over him and are much more mature looking. That wig can be a bit of a nightmare too as the fringe sits ok on one side but sort of sticks out on the other!

    16. Kavarr: I cannot take credit for the amazing body painting. That is courtesy of Angel Toast. All I did was tell her what I needed for his character and that is the result. I also asked her to make sure his fangs were visible as that is also part of his character.

I also have Jaiseki (a Min sculpt) painted by Angel Toast.

    17. Iron-Dog they both look great anyway. My boy was just done by the company and I quite like what they did. I have not yet commisioned someone to do one of my dolls but I soon will as i'm buying a blank head (another company) for the first time. It's great to see owner pics of custom work as it helps a lot with choosing an artist.

    18. Most of my dolls have custom face-ups because they are characters in the novels I write and most of those were done by Angel Toast. I've even got one out right now for a face-up by her. I cannot recommend her enough. She's wonderful to work with and the face ups are amazing. The few dolls I have that don't have custom face-ups, I would like to get them custom face-ups with the exception of 3 dolls, 2 that have LE ones and one that doesn't have one at all who actually looks stunning without one.

I also have a tan Min head that I plan to have modded to have a 3rd eye, but that has been pushed back a bit as I fell in love with a doll I saw at AnimeNorth this past May and I need to have him. When he's cast (it was the prototype I saw), he'll be a limited run so I need to save all my pennies for him. *sigh* The dolls make me so poor.

    19. Kavarr: well at least he can look more mature on his own. ^^

Iron Dog: great pictures as always! it is so hard to save for dolls!!

it is also hard to find the right face up artist. but then I haven't done too much looking either. I painted one of my dolls myself. not the most happy with it, but it works for now. otherwise just about all of my others have factory faces. ^^

    20. Mysteriousmage: Thank you. I got a new camera recently and it likes me a whole lot better than my older one *laughs*. Saving for dolls.... *sigh*. I swear they are little wallet vampires. It's even harder in this instance as I'm fairly certain it'll be a small run of the sculpt and only offered for a short time for pre-order so I need to have every penny of mine saved in just a few short months *cringes*.

I'm very particular about the looks of my dolls and there was a lot of in-depth looking to find someone who I thought would be able to accomplish what I wanted. I originally ordered Moswen with the company default as he was my first doll and I didn't want a blank doll for the time it would take for me to save up for his face-up and full body painting. That was when the company face-up artist was in love with the colour pink and even the boys ended up looking pretty girly because of that.
