1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel of Dream (AOD) 1/4 size discussion thread Part 2

May 15, 2007

    1. *waves hand madly* I have a Min and I absolutely adore him. This is Jaiseki (face-up by the wonderful AngelToast). I think he has a rather serene look. He's wearing 14mm eyes and while not a dreaming style, I think they're a little more closed than average. But I also think that adds to his serene expression.

If there's anything you want to know specifically, I can try and answer. As far as standing/posing goes, my AoD's are my most solid (and I have a MNF).

    2. I got him directly from AoD. I actually got his head as part of a free head event when I bought his father, Moswen (Chi). There is a photo limit per post, so if you want to PM me with your email, I can send you more photos. But here's a random one....

    3. Actually I've always loved your Rao PoeticSoul! Before I actually knew she was a Rao actually, in the gallerys (I sound like a stalker >_<)

She doesn't have a name, and actually I have no idea what color she is! Her faceup will be redone and, well, she needs a lot of work! Suedeing, restringing, and I need to apoxy a stopper in her head for the s-hook. But actually, I'm really happy with her even with all that!

    5. Sullaure that outfit is gorgeous!

Okay, so my Rao has the head where the s-hook strings up to a loop on the headcap, I think I can make it so that the s-hook sits in the neckhole, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the headcap on now? I'll likely use tape for now but I'd like something more permanent?

Also, the middle part of her torso, there's a piece that glues into the top of it, right? So, say it's stuck in the top part of her torso, I can just glue it back in where it goes right?

Omg this girl needs to go through major surgery @_@

    6. If you trust someone with your dolly and some apoxy, you could have them add some make-shift headcap magnets to her. I had a friend do that to my girl. I think I posted pictures a while back...

    7. My girl has the loopy headcap as well and I have the bottom of her s-hook sitting comfortably against her neck hole...I just took a separate little short piece of elastic and threaded it through the loop in the headcap, tied the ends in a knot and then attached it to the top hook of the s-hook and it works perfectly.:)

    8. Poeticsoul, I love your modded Rao. She was one of the first face-up Raos that I found when I was looking for an example of what she could be turned into. At first I was disappointed when I tried to find some samples of her because there haven't been a lot of good pictures. When I found your and the little succubus, I was pleased that she could be modded and still look whole, like the mod fit her or was a part of her. Thank you for posting such lovely pictures.

Carol, I'm glad that it was by chance that you happened upon yours and were so pleased! I didn't like the initial shots of her that were on ebay when I looked. I think the face-up was crap, LOL. I saw her on the AoD site and she looked a bit better but still, there aren't very many good pictures to show her versatility there. I had tried to find her here which is how I found this thread and the waiting room (YAY). I think the first thing I need to do is give her a face-up and body blush and try to post some detailed pics of the sculpt, not to show off my skills, but to show off what you can do with her. I'm a relative nube and had to work really hard to find some good shots. Maybe I'll be able to help someone else who is looking for a good sculpt have an easy choice :). Now that I have been able to talk to you guys, I feel very confident in my choice.

Now I have a HUGE favor to ask one of you who already has one. I want to make her a little white dress. I have the material and obviously the time while I'm waiting for her to come. I thought it would be nice if she had something to wear since everything I have is for an SD sized boy, LOL. Would one of you take some measurements of the doll for me or send me a link to where it is in greater detail. I need the measurement that goes under her armpits and over her breasts on her chest, not the bust. I want to make sure that when I put my button on the back, it seats tightly where I want it to. I can't tell the difference between her bust and the flat of her chest either from the pictures I have found to make it fit right. I just wanted above and below the bust so I don't make it too small. Thank you in advance and I promise the first shots she will be wearing it.

    9. Here ya go!:)
      Above the bust: 7 inches
Below the bust: 6 1/4 inches

    10. I love his look, anyway!

    11. So now I have the wig I needed for my new girl... I have the cloth I need to make her clothes... I have everything to get started but Tiamet is still pending on AoD :(. I discovered that "pending" is really another word for one of the lesser rings of hell.

    12. I want to try to make some Thai fisherman pants for my Chi before he comes, so I was wondering if anyone with a 'boy' body could grab one measurement for me--basically the crotch measurement, from the waist in front to the waist in back. I'm planning on making them roomy, but it'd make me feel better if I had some idea!

    13. You're in luck! Not only do I have a Chi, his clothing style (and the style of my Awh'anise in general) consists of vests and Thai fisherman pants. I can give you the measurements you're after and if you don't mind waiting over the weekend, I can scan my pattern and send that to you as a PDF.

When I make them, I generally cut out 2 sets usually in contrasting colours and sew them together to make reversible outfits. I sew them on the flat and trim the edges with satin ribbon folded in half (basically bias tape). This makes all seams invisible and gives a nice finish.

This is Moswen (he's a tanned Chi) in burgundy and royal blue

This is Jaiseki (NY Min) in robin's egg blue and green leopard

    14. I'd love to see that pattern too, if you don't mind sharing. I've been wanting to make some thai fisherman pants for my girl and I'm sure I can get them to fit if they wouldn't automatically fit, given how roomy those things can be. XD I made a pair of thai fisherman pants recently for an SD, but I must've gone with a different style as mine didn't have open sides. O.O

    15. Sure, no problem. I think you'd only have to adjust the pattern a little to fit the shorter girl body. It's very forgiving regards to size. I will be away this weekend and I can only scan stuff at work so as long as you don't mind waiting until Monday, I can do that.

I have several pairs of fisherman's pants for myself. They're among my favourite things to wear in the summer because of the open sides leaving them nice and cool.

    16. Iron_Dog: Please, just share the pattern with all of us, if you don't mind! I'd love to see it, too! I'd especially love to see directions on the pattern showing which sides you sew along to do the reversible ones...I'm not sure I understand with just a written description. *totally a visual/picture learner*

    17. Can do! I'm not sure how well I can do with the directions as my spatial reasoning is completely borked up *sigh*, but I've done the pattern enough so that I should be able to give semi-decent directions on what to do. It may also help if I photograph the completed outfits I've done.

If I have time/am motivated enough, I can see about maybe doing some kind of tutorial, but no promises there as I've yet to find the time to finish sewing some outfits I cut out for my 1/6th Twins about... a month ago *guilty look*.

    18. Thank you so much, that would be fantastic! I don't mind waiting at all, and your pictures are super helpful! The bias tape is a great idea.

    19. Iron_dog: I'll be happy for whatever you can share with us, and if I have any questions once I have time to make some pants myself, I'm sure it won't hurt me any to PM you with them and wait for an answer! And I know that pictures of the pants not on the doll would really help me, too!

    20. LadyGanesh: I usually buy satin ribbon from the Dollar Store as its only $1/roll (usually about 2 meters worth) as bias tape is more expensive and you usually get less for your money. Yes, it takes a little time to pin and iron the ribbon in half, but it's worth it in my opinion.

Ayas-Shadow: Taking pics of the finished pants should be easy enough and with any luck, I can do that on Sunday afternoon. And yes, you're more than welcome to PM/email me if you have any questions.
