1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angel of Dream (AOD) 1/4 size discussion thread Part 2

May 15, 2007

    1. I have a RS Mei girl head hybrid onto an AoD girl body. The match is pretty nice, and the proportions are good, too. Let me see if I have any photos of her on the AoD body to share...it doesn't look like I do...drat! I'll see if I can get some at a meet I'm taking her to on Sunday to share with you.

    2. Sun shining today and feels like spring has arrived. I took Lividian to the park and had to take a pic in front of the pink blossom. Poor little vamp out in the sun:)

    3. I have a question regarding resin color, and I'm really hoping someone here can help me.

I posted some time ago about finally getting my hands on an old-style Rao head. Since then I've been trying to pick up a body for her. She was listed as normal skin, and when I asked if it was NS yellow or pink, I was told yellow. I ended up getting a brand new NS-yellow body for her, but omg is it yellow! Today I brought home a 2008 NS girl (the original owner said she didn't remember having to pick pink or yellow). She's darker, and more flesh-toned than the new yellow body, but doesn't match, either. I don't know the exact age of my doll, but she can't be any newer than mid-2008. My Rao is sort of a warm, pale peachy color. Granado's new normal matches her almost perfectly, surprisingly.

I know originally AoD only had one normal skin. Was that different than either of the new normals, and when was the switch? And how pink in their NS pink? I'm nervous to buy another body without being more confident in the match.

Sorry for suddenly popping in, and thank you for any help that can be provided.

    4. Both of my AoDs are 2008, and at that time I did have to choose PN or YN; my girl is in PN resin and it's very similar to the average NS color (the peachy, fleshy color). It's not a pink-pink, more just what's typical of the other NS dolls I own.

    5. Thank you for your help! I think the owner of the head I bought might've mistakenly told me she was NS yellow. Ironically, shortly after I posted here I found someone selling a complete old-style Rao in NS on the bay. XD Hopefully the body will match the head I already have, as I'm in love with her tone and face-up. *crosses fingers*

    6. I decided to dress her up while I still have her since i am looking for someone to adopt her sadly x.x

She is wearing a iplehouse natural dress set and some odd ended shoes i found in a shop lol

    7. awww i'm sorry to hear that you're trying to sell your girl. She looks very cute in that outfit though!

    8. Kavarr, the blossoms are beautiful!

Heiroglyphica, I have a couple of boys, my 2012 and 2010 normal yellow skin's traded body's.
It's not too bad for Gene, the skin-tone is close. Fred is another story.
I had to blush his head before adding his face-up to match the skin-tone.
      Good luck!

      Fush! She's gorgeous!

    9. Thank you, Maiden, that's a really helpful comparison. Your 2012 yellow skin body looks about the same as my 2013--very yellow. But the color's really growing on me. The wiki claims that DollLove yellow skin's a match, so I'm debating getting a head from them so the body doesn't go to waste of it's true.

It's a little surprising to see how the tones vary over time. The 2008 girl I just bought seems darker than any of yours, as well. She's a warmer, darker tone, though distinctly the yellow tone.

The Rao I just bought has the old style head and body, so I'm hoping the tones will be compatible. I thought about blushing a match, but I've already had my current head painted and am smitten with her new look.

      Fush, she looks so cute!

ETA: The new (old) Rao arrived today! And... It's very yellow. Pale, and yellow. I'm not sure if it was originally yellow, or white, but no match. Again. I guess I have twins now? lol

    10. Just a random question guys. I have a spare Angel of dream box what does one do with it if they don't have an angel of dream anymore. at the moment it has all my packing stuff in it XD but seriously is there a location on here to sell just boxes?

    11. Just wanted to drop in with some Silas spam (Chen). Haven't peeked in on this thread for a bit. Hope everyone is well. :)

    12. Fush, you can sell them in the accessories subforum. I don't know how much interest there is, but it's worth a shot. I only keep a couple boxes and just toss the rest. ^.^;

Maxtastic, he looks like such a brooder. I love it.

I gave my new Rao a scrubdown and she's going in the mail for a face-up tomorrow. I'm excited about having twins, but... I still need a body for my first girl! XD

    13. Oh thank you Heiroglyphica! That is helpful :D I know how some people are super picky about boxes so I think its worth wild in the end lol. Plus its a box one would be surprised at how much a box costs to ship. but theres cheaper options out there believe it or not lol.

On the side note. is it even remotely possible for a white doll from AoD to yellow over 9 months? even after staying in a box for most of that time?

    14. I would imagine it could begin to yellow a bit; my WS AoD from 2008 has yellowed very evenly; he's noticeably more yellow now than his wig (also white, and originally they were nearly the same color). But it's also a nice creamy color, and extremely even, including parts that have been covered consistently since I got him. I don't actually know when his color started to change, it's only recently that I've taken a really good look at him to see the overall shift, but it could have been before he was a year old.

    15. Hmm could heat be part of why a doll with white skin from AoD to yellow even being in a box for most of that time?

    16. Thanks for the pattern. Good idea re the ribbon. Makes a nice finished edge.

    17. she looks amazing in that outfit :-)
and I love her hair :-) very pretty girl!

Unfortunatly I'm in the same situation as you - my Elissa is looking for new home too :-(
I hope that she will find a good home and the same I wish for your girl!

    18. dollinka,:o WHY?!
You just got Elissa, what made you want to give her up?
Maybe you haven't had a chance to bond?

I love AOD's... maybe that's because their the only kind of bjd's I have, but I think their awesome!
I love to adopt, rather than buy new, if I can help it, because they have more heart, character, and a history behind them.

My husband asked me; "How many dolls do you have, and why do you want more?"
I showed them all to him, and the girl body, and two floating heads, but there are others I'd like... and I even added in another.

Anyway, long story short, if I could, I'd adopt little lost AOD's... I'm kind of a hoarder for them.

    19. I'm probably biased as well, but I believe my AoD's stand better than some of the other companies I have, some of which many others swear by as the best posers out there. I would absolutely trust my AoD boys to remain standing if left alone for long periods of time.

I think I hoard odd-ball dolls *grins*. I have several that are odd-sized, ones that are discontinued or just generally seem unpopular as sculpts and even companies that while still in production are rarely seen. I didn't plan it that way. It just happened.

    20. I know, I have he since june and it's really hard for me :-(
She's very beautiful and I still adore her, her beautiful eyes are amazing but after few months I don't feel that girl if you know what I mean.
The other thing is that I'm planning to build a doll house for my Blythe size doll and she's just too big and I don't want her to sit and collect dust on a shelf, I want her to live her life in a new home with someone who will love her. I put her on e bay and have lots of hope that she will find a perfect home :-)

My boyfriend says the same if I'm searching for another Blythe girl ;-)
I think that there is never enough dolls :-)
