My Lanelle is an AoD Lan. She was my third BJD I still love her as well. I really like AoD dolls. Laneiie by tomb202, on Flickr[/IMG]
Wow, I should have looked for this thread a long time ago! This is my AOD Zhen/Ming (they changed the mold name before they quit making him I think?) He's from 2007, and had the little annoying shoulder shell things. His name is Saming, and he's a necromancer He also really needs a decent fitting shirt <.<
Thank you, Faith! Here's my AoD 1/4 boy Walter (Wang Zi) Walter at the Park by tomb202, on Flickr[/IMG]
OMGoshness... so handsome! O.o I Love the formal and possibly somwhat steampunk? look? im new to the whole steampunk look. is it? or just formal?
That's a fantastic looking sculpt! Kind of moody & sullen; yet handsome, happy and mysterious. Did you remove the shoulder things? It's functional without them, without spaces etc? I haven't seen the really old body's personally. Also, this is for anyone: Has anyone had problems with the inside torso part?! I have a few AOD's male and female that seem to randomly go wonky on me mid pose due to the inside torso part jumping into their chest cavity! I feel like I either need to re-string them (never have tried, little afraid, and no elastic yet) or glue the torso piece back into place. Any ideas? Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone had a good solution or even better, a reason for the cause? Thank you all in advance!
I did take the little shoulder things out. If they were like silicone kips I would have left them, but they were little resin bits! His arms pose a lot better without them in, and there isn't any gapping or anything. I just glued that piece in place. I have a couple dolls that have it, and I was tired of them falling over because the middle bit was trying to come out an armhole, or something equally weird.
Is that shoulder thing a new-ish choice? My boys are from 2008/09 and they don't have that. I've also no idea what the inside torso part is that you're talking about. Yes, my guys have a 3-piece torso (which I love in a doll) but I've never had that issue and they were ordered direct from AoD.
The shoulder things are (as far as I know) from early on in the companies history, I got my boy in July of 2007. I'll restring him with the shoulder bits after my kiddo goes to bed, but for now here are some pictures http://i.imgur.com/YAHfdaZ.jpg Shoulder bits http://i.imgur.com/wK4rK0q.jpg Middle piece 1 http://i.imgur.com/xSNNFAK.jpg Middle piece 2 I really want to get him new hands, but I know the resin has a snowballs chance in the sahara of matching. These ones are pretty bad :<
They must've changed the next year when I got my guys because they have neither the shoulder cups (which looks sort of like what the MNF have... and are completely useless, in my opinion) or the middle piece. Dodged a bullet there. I have a tan Min head that needs a body and I plan on getting it from Magical Angel (since AoD discontinued their tan skin AND totally changed their awesome bodies) as their bodies fit the character I have in mind, they're a great price and they said they'd do their best to colour match the body to my head at no extra charge (aside from the slightly higher price for their tan). To that end, perhaps you could check out their hands and see if they'd colour match for you. Just a thought....
Hi i just wanted to get yalls opinion on this shirt and arm-warmers? (The Camera flash killed me here...)
Strange that AOD used to do those shoulder kips! Glad that they dont any more. I have a few OT dolls that have them and I find them annoying. lol. TomB I love your boy's outfit!! He really has a great look. Faith in Beauty I like the armwarmers a lot! Might be fun to do legwarmers too. I also recently made some new clothes for Roxanna and Lucien~ (sneaking my kiddelf Genevieve in there too because she got some new clothes too...)
Ok, So Idrial's eyeshadow had a smudge Very noticeable. so i re-did PART Of her Face-Up, + Eyelashes I put in finally! (i did the eyes and eyebrows.) now im far from a professional, but for the first partial face-up attempt ive done on a resin MSD Girl, I think, that its OK.... Well? whats the Verdict guys? *hides behind Idrial* (And sorry for a long post!)
LOL! That outfit has an interesting history. I bought it for one of my girls to wear in a fantasy story and I didn't realize that it was a boy outfit until I acquired the matching girl outfit. Both are by Dollheart. Dollheart bills them as steampunk but I like them for high fantasy as well. Here are the two together. Walter & Winter by tomb202, on Flickr[/IMG]
Hi, I'm new to DoA, so if this is in the wrong spot, some direction as to where it needs to be would be great! I'm wanting to purchase a AOD 1/4 female body, but I want the immature body. The problem is that so far I can only find pictures of the bust, but not a full body shot. I'm wanting to know what the proportion of the hips to bust looks like. Do any of you have this body and could take a few photos of it for me? Again if this is in the wrong spot I can try to ask elsewhere, just thought I'd start here.
Hello noushi! Welcome to DoA! You are in the right thread to be asking about it. I actually didn't even know that AOD made an immature bust piece until you asked about it. lol. But you ask a good question. If no one on here has the immature bust/body for you I would suggest asking AOD on their Q&A board or even trying to contact Happyhouse4U.com and see if they have pictures or at least measurements for you. Or you could always try creating an ask thread in either Newbieland, General discussion or in Photo Reference and see if anyone else out there who doesnt lurk this thread has an answer for you!
Please excuse the mess that is my bedside table (and the books). But this is my Sam - AOD Sha Jia. He was meant to be my Chris, but the way he came out of his pillow and stood for me, he is most certainly my little Sammy-kins, there was no way I would have been able to style him into Chris...
