Angel of Dream (AOD) 1/4 size discussion thread Part 2

I'd like a Normal Yellow skin Rao to be Melb/Melba to go with the 2 NY-Skin Meng Ya Qi (1 opened & 1 closed eyed) heads I have.
Also, a white Chun Ze head for my white body at home. (Will be known as Suzuka)
I looked into Happy House http://www.happyhouse4u.com/ and a $165 doll + $45.00 shipping = 210.00 total.
A full doll $165 + $65 additional head = $230.00 + $59 shipping = $289.00 total!
Or... two dolls $165 each = $330 together + $80 shipping = $410 total!
Conclusion... two dolls together is cheaper than separate due to shipping... and shipping is expensive!

Moved on to the AoD web page http://www.aoddoll.net/ $165 doll + $40 shipping =$205 total.
They don't have separate 1/4 heads in stock, but they can be reserved for $45 each.
So guessing (unable to set up cart) $165 doll + $45 head = $210 + $40(Shipping?)= $250 total?
Yet... I have had problems with them in the past, but they did fix them... it was just a pain in the butt.
Price wise this is a better deal for me than Happy House right now, I think.

Moving to eBay... questionable to start... $120 body + $27 shipping & $49 heads free shipping.
Seller of the heads is afhdoll I know nothing of this seller.
The body is dollonline2009 who is a banned(?) seller on DOA. (Correct me if I am wrong!)
This may not be the way to go.

I put a WTB for a NY Skin Rao in the marketplace, in hopes of re-homing a used Rao.
I may put one out for a Chun Ze head too.
I don't want to pay "new" (or more) for a used doll... I could buy a new one for the same price.
I hope to find one that's a little cheaper, and needs a new home.
I dunno... trying to see what my options are, and make the best decision... any ideas?

 

Alices Collections now deal for AoD The_Modern_Maiden - I've just ordered a 1/4 body from them beginning of Jan and it's just shipped now - they are lovely to deal with and very responsive to queries (I've had lots of clothing etc. from them in the past) - BUT.....!!! It is now Chinese New Year holidays until around mid February, so pretty much all of China is grinding to a halt for the next 2 weeks - no point ordering anything till mid-Feb. I have found Alices do the cheapest delivery option around - I got my first 2 AoD dolls from happyhouse and great service but pricey shipping! I have heard ordering from AoD direct is not the easiest thing to do, so I'd use a reputable dealer.

1/22/2013 was the 1 year anniversary of my grandpa's death, 2013 was hard, and I hope 2014 is better.
I checked out Alice's Collections http://www.acbjd.com/ and a Rao is $165, and it seems shipping may be $32.24; but I can't get a head by itself.

So far Alice's Collections is the cheapest (besides the marketplace) for a full doll.
I may go with them, and just get a head from AoD directly, or off the marketplace (for Chun Ze head/Rao or both).
We'll see!

Alice's Collections got back to me and said to use the $1 page and order the head for $49.
So... $165 doll + $49 head + $32.25 shipping = $246.25 total. (estimated shipping)

I think I figured out the $1 page... you add $1 until you reach the right price, then comment what the item is.

 

Hello Mysteriousmage, Your Roxanna is beautiful! And that hooded cape is perfect!
I would like to know if your doll has pink skin, cause I was thinking of buying it too, but I don't know if after so many years the bodies have changed.
And I'm not sure about her face up, I'm afraid that on a white skin it's too much contrast (too much red around the eyes).
Is your face up the same which is on the shop now?
I've a bjd AOD 4 years old, but has white skin, I don't know if the colors are changed now.
I saw on the website that the bodies have now painted pink joints.

I had dealt with AoD directly and there was a mistake made in my order and it took FOREVER to get straightened out as well as the intervention of a dealer on my behalf. I adore my AoD boys (tan Chi, NY Min & NY Adonis) and Moswen (the Chi) is my favourite out of all of my dolls, but I think if I was to order a brand new doll, I'd do it through a dealer this time to save myself the possible headache.

 

October- Thank you! Yes Roxanna is in Pink skin. I can't tell you about the bodies too much because I only have one of the girl bodies and one of the boy bodies. ^^; Yes, I do have the company face up on her too. I have seen some Shang Nai's with white skin and the face up, and i do feel that the pink is a bit too much with the White skin. They are still lovely, but it is still a bit much in my opinion. I'm sure that some of the bodies have changed a bit as well as the colors slightly. But I would think that they are mostly the same. I think with the bodies, you would have to pay more for body blushing on the joints.

I strongly do not recommend ordering from aoddoll.net, they are very slow, tend to ignore questions related to order status, and when one of the girls from our forum wrote to AOD directly on their aoddoll.com website, they told her their own site is .com and .net site is their dealer:
"Hello, I am very sorry. aoddoll.net is one of our agents, but has been a long time do not give me orders".
As for dollonline2009, wasn't that mybayer2008 banned? AOD once said their only ebay dealer is dollonline, and mybayer was accused of selling recasts, but the other time AOD said that mybayer is ok... I never planned to buy AOD from ebay, but I'm totally confused anyway.

 

The_Modern_Maiden I would just email Alices Collections using their contact form on their web - They might be able to sort it out for you as they are very helpful and quick to respond - Although their holiday starts on Saturday

@the_modern_maiden: The two shops you mentioned are the same I think (dollonline 2009 and afhdoll - you can see the AFH logo on the upper left).
I've purchased quite a few things from them in the past, the most recent an AoD Min head and never had problems :3


Also, I attempted to buy a doll via AoD directly but it took forever to get a reply to an inquiry I had before. With Beautiful-Doll (the dollonline 2009 shop) I had no such problems :3

Also, does anyone have the current MSD boy body? I prefered the old muscle one visually so far, but I might need the current one for another character in the makings. I was wondering if he's really as muscle-less as he seems and how is posing is.

 

Yes snowy, totally flat... no muscles.
My Fred (Gene & Fred swapped body's) and Harry have flat body's while Gene and Ron have muscles.
They seem to pose the same, but the newer/flat body's feel heavier than the muscular body's, that's a little weird, but they pose the same.

I made it before Harry got his boy body, and will probably update it whenever I get Suzuka's head and/or MelB.

 

Maiden that is a really nice comparison guide! The only problem I have with my boy (he is on the muscular body) Is that his elbows make me crazy. Thankfully he wears a lot of long sleeves so I don't have to mess with them too much. I got thes picture of my Wang Zi and I don't know what my lights did but it made one of his eyes look cool so I wanted to share it.



I have no idea how i did that, but its cool to look at. Hopefully soon I can get a picture with both his eyes looking normal.

Yeah, I'm totally confused about mybayer2008 too. I was looking at them for doll shoes, but since I saw the aod doll listings on there I looked them up on here... But then on aoddoll.net they say that that is their official ebay dealer now? So did they sort everything out with them or something? (From the discussion in this thread it sounds like they're an official AOD dealer but they've been doing shady sales of other doll brands? ??? Either way I guess they're still sketchy.)

Is there anywhere besides aoddoll.net to buy just a head? I’m interested in getting the Rao head, and I’m willing to wait, but if there’s someplace better anyone would recommend I’d love to know that too.

 

Zuks: I know you can buy just the heads on ebay. I'm unsure whats the seller's name is. Thats your best bet since I never seen the heads sold alone anywhere on the dealer's pages. Another place you could ask is http://www.acbjd.com/ they are a dealer and Im sure they could specially order it if you email them. They are very friendly.

one thing I really like about the AoD girl bodies is the choice of bust size available. I got the small bust body today for my dollzone Freddy event head (which is a boy head so it's a bit big on the neck of this girl body) Really very happy with it - it's perfect. Poses fantastic and is beautiful - I love the tiny bust, and the hands are very pretty too. It's an exact match (pink normal) for LAST year's dollzone 'pink' - which has now changed and got pinker *sigh* Also very impressed to get a nice box and pillows, and underwear with it just like a full doll! Ordered from Alices collections beginning of January, and they shipped it last week just before their holiday began - very speedy!

 

I love the small bust body. That's what I've got for my Fei. I just got her head back from Anthrogirl (Who did a lovely faceup), and wanted to show her off. The only wig I have for her currently is her Mega Ampharos wig (it's a project I'm working on).
