1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Yes, well...As far as I know, this company is Chinese and we are all probably aware that their copyright laws are much looser/different than other countries and they may not be as aware of the implications of their actions as we'd like to think. (Maybe...that's an assumption on my part.) I mean, culturally, they just don't seem to respect or acknowledge these "moral" laws as we do. No offense meant to the Chinese. But, it is well known that Chinese companies/merchants do not mind "borrowing" ideas from well known artists/creators.

But anyway, my point here is that on a physical level they cannot (unless they have a lot of time and skill), nor have attempted to make exact replications of the outfits, and particularly direct copies of the character's features in their dolls. They would have had to spend a lot of time doing this and also would have had studied the Kuroshitsuji images and characters to a point that they were endeavoring to make and sell figures of the character designs and custumes shown above.

This would have been infringement, I think. But the images above are even less of an obvious attempt at "cosplay" than the Angel Santuary image. So, in my opinion...as dissapointing as it is. The designs are drawn from inspiration.

I stand at a neutral point here, because as an artist, I don't like to see the ideas taken. But, honestly the ideas were not that original in the first place, so pegging it down as "stealing" is difficult to do. I'm not very concerned about it for this reason. If the Kuroshituji characters and designs were something I had never seen the like of before, I'd be a lot more upset. But, because I see outfits on dolls like this pretty much every other day, it doesn't ring any alarm bells.

Hope no one takes offense to that. :/

EDIT: Also, about my comment above involving companies using "cheap" ideas to grab costumers. I am not merely, nor attempting, to bash AS. I am speaking for ALL BJD companies. Just looking at things in a critical way, because honestly, it seems like the companies are only coming up with so many ideas, and many of them are recycling the same themes over and over because they know we will buy them. That just bothers me because, personally my style differs a bit from what's popular now and I'm often forced to settle with the things that everyone is churning out at the moment. I myself think the dolls are beautiful. It's just the concepts that leave me a bit cold. But, that's my business. It's up to ME to make my dolls original. Not the company ^^

    2. *sigh*
I think I dont want to write anymore here in this Thread, because it seemes now one here want to understand.

      [Edit]
Yes, Copy is a very "hard" word but its the only one which fit in this case.

    3. Just visited the website again, and it's got a spankin' new page design:

      http://www.angell-studio.com

And here's a bit of info on what regular sculpts were used:

      MIX Red - Cain
      MIX Blue - Abel
MIX Black - (human) Rebus >> no wonder his mold looks very familiar. :D:D:D

    4. Thank you for figuring that out - the Mix Black one was the one that had me the most confused because it looked so darn familiar! :D

    5. No problemo (though the name infos were actually picked from the website itself :sweat).

Now we can get Rebus as a regular mold --- the human version, that is. The vampire (both full doll and separate head) version is already sold-out. :(

    6. I so completely missed that on their normal site. But hey, Rebus as a vamp is not only a mod away, right? :D

    7. Hmmm, mod ears to elf ears.....add fangs...... :D oooh, only a little modding is needed to make him a vamp Rebus!

    8. woah the outfits are a little expenisve but they look great!

    9. They release some eyes and underwear, besutiful!

    10. I like the boyleg,but I don't like the colour.:(
