Angell-Studio Youth (58-61cm) and Charm (62-71cm) Discussion Vol. 3

Apr 14, 2017

    1. @NekoNyanMew - It seems pretty clear their English agent changed. I didn't try to communicate with them - and never got a preview either before she arrived, so I literally had no idea what she was going to look like. I hope that they were able to either fix it or that it will be an easy fix for you.

    2. Is anyone ordering that mermaid? She's seriously gorgeous and tempting. I've been looking at the video and pictures up and down to see how many joints she has in her tail, but I'm having a hard time. Legenddoll said 21 joints, but I doubt that. Now THAT would be impressive xD

The only thing throwing me off besides her price is she has my personal cardinal sin of mermaids and mermaid dolls.... a puffy tail that looks like it was just tied on at the base. Disproportionate to the rest of it and looks useless for swimming. Even if fantasy, I can't help but imagine her trying to wiggle around and not really going anywhere :XD:

    3. @Ian-KunX I just ordered back in March I think it was, and got a color matching service done. I wrote to them in e-mail asking what to do and they were very very good at responding and very helpful! They'd told me to order in just any skin tone, and then put a note in the info when checking out about the resin match. I sent a headcap to them to the address provided and when they shipped the body, they shipped the cap back. It was perfect and the body is amazing and matches my head perfectly! I'm very very happy I did it, even though it was expensive ^_^

    4. @Littlebirdzoom I ordered her in the tan skintone with the purple tail and the mermaid makeup I think it will look interesting. Usually I only like white for feminine dolls but the faceup and tail I think will look nice on tropical skin color

I dont know the face sculpt is called, but the one with the black hair

Can you show me example of correct and incorrect mermaid? I thought all mermaid have that fat hip and then it tapers to small and then a big wide tail haha

    5. @GreenTeaSlug, I think @Littlebirdzoom means the caudal fin (fin at the end of the tail). It's a big poof. XD It's closer to a fancy goldfish than, say, a dolphin or tuna in terms of mobility. I personally don't mind it, as I like mermaids of all aesthetics.

I've been admiring AS dolls for a while now, but haven't ever had that "OMG NEED" moment with them, until now. Mermaids are my weakness. :...(:love But she's much larger that I'm used to, and I'm worried about her weight. And her price. :aeyepop:

    6. My XiaZhi finally arrived!

I'm still waiting on her proper eyes (these ones are too big) and clothing, but she's too cute not to post. The faceup artist did actually honor my request and remove the glitter on her cheek, but the English agent was unable to communicate that to me via e-mail. I was glad to see it was gone when I took her out of the box!

The shipping box and her official Angell-Studio box were completely wrecked. Shipping box was squashed and company box was literally falling apart. I had to throw it out, but thankfully the embroidered carrier and CoA were perfectly intact. She was well wrapped too, so no damage to the actual doll.

All in all, I'm really thrilled that they were kind enough to make a LE sold out doll for me!

    7. Every box I’ve gotten from them looked like it went through a war, and possibly a trash compactor. The first one only had clothes, thankfully, as it looked like it had been used as a soccer ball by the entire nation of Brazil. The inner box my doll arrived in wasn’t quite as bad as yours, but the lid was falling apart.

    8. Yea, mine was pretty battered too - but she was perfect inside.

    9. Well, the main purpose of the boxes is to protect the doll. So I guess they have done their job.

    10. Yep, I'm certainly more relieved that she came home safely. I do keep all my doll boxes, though, so it was a bit of a bummer to have to throw it away. But I think the carrier and CoA will be enough to prove she's legit.

    11. Maybe save a picture of the box so people can see why you threw it out.

If a shipping box is badly damaged, I usually take a picture before I open it.

    12. Just to post my experience, I've only bought one doll from them but the box and shipper were all perfect.

The doll was too, and that is of course the main thing.

    13. Most of my boxes have arrived in good shape also,
      .

    14. She is so pure and beautiful. Congratulation.

I personally sometimes don't like the glitter-almost-all-over-the-face style of Angell Studio too. Btw her skin color looks so stunning and softly radiant in this pic, could I ask which skin color she is?

    15. Thank you very much! I ordered her in Butter Skin. There is actually an in-stock XiaZhi over at Mint on Card, but she's in their Normal Pink Skin, which I don't find as attractive. I'm glad I was able to order this girl directly from the company! :D

    16. Butter is what I got my Diao-Chan in. I like it, I was worried it might’ve been really yellow, but it’s a pale peachy color in person.

    17. Butter is about the only skin tone my friend and I don't own *laugh* I feel like we need it just to complete the set.

    18. You definitely need a butter skin doll! It is a very pretty color and I don't like yellowish dolls. But I still love my dolls that have mellowed with age.

    19. I don't typically go for the yellow colors, either, but Angell-Studio's Butter Skin is just perfect, IMO. There are some really nice pink hues, too, I'm just not personally a fan of their Normal Pink. Solid & Translucent Pink are lovely, though! :kitty2

    20. I'm actually debating between butter and normal pink for my HongLee. He's going to go on an Akagi NS body, so obviously it has to be the color that most closely matches (and I can't find pics of this particular resin match anywhere). Akagi's NS is on the yellower side from what I can tell, so I've been leaning toward butter but was worried it might be too yellow. So it's reassuring to know that it has a more peachy tone.

@NekoNyanMew If you don't mind, could I ask what you don't like about their normal pink? Maybe this would help me make a decision too, haha.
