1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Angell-Studio Youth (58-61cm) and Charm (62-71cm) Discussion Vol. 3

Apr 14, 2017

    1. This is interesting, because I actually got a Solid Pink Lan Ling in the works after seeing how differently it photographs compared to the 'stock footage' of the skin samples (which you can see in the updated pic from AS below):

2018 AS resin colors. Top row from left to right: gray, suntanned, solid pink, solid butter, solid milk.
Bottom row from left to right: solid light pink, translucent pink, solid white, translucent "snow"
Depending on the lighting it can either look very pink or this nice shade of peachy tone as see above. I don't have dolls on hand but I've looked at pics of company dolls, other people's dolls, and face-up artist profiles to check it out, and decided to try a SP doll because I wanted different skin tones for all my peeps! I guess when he comes in 4 months I can do photos of him next to my AS Xi Shi (who's solid butter) and see how it looks. :D

For ref, here's the old AS resin colors photo:

    2. Wow, I have already heard that solid butter is such a pretty skin color in real life (it often looks too yellow for me in a couple photos I found on flickr tho, that's why I hesitated). Now I see your girl, thank you so much I think I have just made my own decision that I would go for this color.

Anyway, I suppose to buy Lan head seperately and will combine her head with Crobidoll M-line girl body (or April Story 16 girl body) because I love girls with curves and AS body is kinda skinny. The only thing I'm worried about now is if the skin colors of these companies are too different from each other.

    3. Thanks for the photos, @Ruyilala. I suppose I should clarify, as I'm going by the 2016 stock photo from Angell-Studio's English website.

It's a little difficult to differentiate Solid vs. Normal pink when different photos say different things! I believe that the Solid-Light Pink in the 2018 photo is the same thing as Solid Pink in the 2016 photo. I think that resin color has an elegant pink hue. However, the Solid Pink (2018) and Normal Pink (2016) is the color that I'm not personally a fan of.

@bickazer The reason I didn't go for Normal Pink is because I think the resin color is a little too dark, and after digging through DoA to research owner photos, I didn't quite like how the resin aged. To me, the color seems a bit more like the skin tone you'd find on a kids toy and less like what you'd see on a handmade BJD. Of course, that's just my personal opinion and I'm sure others would disagree!

@Vivian Nguyen I'd love to see your curvy girl! The Solid Butter isn't really that yellow, at all. It has a slightly yellower tint than the Pink Skin alternatives, but it's very pale and smooth. :3nodding:

    4. Yay! I just checked my tracking number, and the wig I ordered for my doll is in the States at least!

I ordered this wig for my Diao, hope it works well.

    5. @davri - it certainly looks like it has a very traditional style - I hope it fits/works perfectly!

    6. AS just updated the information of the mermaid dolls on their English website. Here are the links of Greater Snow and Lesser Snow in the mermaid version.

I'm so confused about the information. I guess the price is just included the upper part of the 1/3 girl body and the mermaid tail. If the price is included the full 1/3 girl body and the mermaid tail, it is the similar price in their Taobao shop.

    7. cute chubby face, look like volks luna.

    8. Does anyone know if the mermaids on the English website come with legs and tails? It says 1/3 female + mermaid, which tomesounds like it does, but I’m not sure because of the lack of a price difference between the English site and the taobao. I might email to ask, but thought I’d check here?

    9. Since it says the default type of feet are "mermaid", I think you only get the mermaid lower body. I am very tempted.

I got the faceup approval photos for my Lang Ling/Euro last night. I approved and he is on the way! I just ordered him at the end of June!

    10. I think I’ll email, but that sounds pretty conclusive. I think the taobao is the better deal then but thats’s nothing new. Ooooo congratulations! That’s fantastically fast!

    11. Update: 850 is not including human legs. The price for just a tail is 580, and then you can buy a human full doll with it, like the options on taobao. I mentioned the differences between the website price and the taobao, but the person I’m emailing insists that the tail is fragile and so I should order through the English site so I am protected in case of breakage. Any thoughts?

    12. About skin colors... Allow me to be annoying for a bit.
I just got a head (secondhand) and the seller was unsure about the resin color. "Yellow" was mentioned, and I'd like to think that it is Solid Butter. (the CoA does not seem to say..?)

As always, it is hard to get a proper photo of the color... I matched it against a "Milk skin" SmartDoll (in case anyone has one). Off-topic, I know, but it is all I have that I can compare with atm.
Is anyone able to help me identify? (It is about a year old)

    13. It does look like Solid Butter. If it helps you, here is a comparison of a Solid Butter foot to a Solid Pink doll.

    14. I hadn't posted a pic in here yet I don't think? But here is my color matched 74cm body with an off topic Pygmalion Ha head.

    15. He is a gorgeous guy!

    16. Very nice! (and yes, gorgeous too!) @Ravenwolf
How do you find the body? Is it a good poser?

    17. @nancy_schroeder_ca Thank you!! ^_^

@Yumeiro Yes he is a great poser and the body is so smooth and lovely. I really am glad I went for it! Thank you!

      Yumeiro:
It's hard to say, the doll on the left is solid pink and the one on the right is butter. What do you think?

    19. @stellarphenomena Yeah, it is hard to tell! But I am heavily leaning towards the butter. Your pictures made me even more sure - thanks!
I also figured that I will use a color-matching service when ordering a body, so in this case of mine, resin-color might not be an issue (though it would be nice to know for sure).
