Been thinking of getting a resin doll again, though I prefer vinyl... So, being close to summer-time it might be best to wait, as events tend to start. So my question is (thought I would ask here) - does AS do annual events, or are the events more random in nature?

 

I don't have AS dolls yet, but I dream of Lan Ling. I would like to know about the AS events too.

Good news!

I missed out on the original release of XiaZhi/Summer Solstice and have regretted it ever since, so I decided to e-mail Angell-Studio and inquire about a possible re-release. They offered to make her for me ASAP!

I paid in full a couple of weeks ago and they told me she should be ready in ~50 working days. I'm assuming that's the normal wait time of 3 months or so, correct? I've heard their customer service is getting switched around, so I hope everything goes smoothly.

 

Seems like it. I ordered right at the end of November, and got my girl at the beginning of March. If you ordered a faceup they also send an email to make sure it’s what you wanted before shipping.

Whew, so there was a used Xi Shi for sale online which I snapped up quick and she got home earlier than expected today. Let me just say that she's become my first introduction to the BJD world and wow, the box was huge. 0 - 0 I didn't even recognize what I'd ordered until I saw the Chinese writing on the outside (the seller had repackaged the doll in its original box from China, which was clever.)

Anyways, it's so cool how BJD joints can bend and then sort of click into place and stay there! I always wondered how posing worked. And I was worried that she'd look creepy without eyes (because the seller was only selling her body), but she still looks very sweet and pretty despite being 'eyeless,' and her eyelashes are amazing. *o*

I don't know if I can post a pic of her here just yet since she doesn't have any clothes on in my snapshot, but I'll make a formal profile for her and everything when her dress and accessories arrive. I'm going to dress her up as one of my favorite childhood characters, Little Dragon Girl (Xiaolongnü) from the 2006 adaptation of the wuxia novel Return of Condor Heroes. Taobao had a seller who was making her exact wig and dress, so of course I couldn't resist.

I haven't given her a name yet but I've been juggling a few in my head. I have no idea what color her skin is or how many owners she went through last but I love her already so I think I'll be hopelessly gone once she's all dressed up and prettified! >u<

You can definitely post a photo of her in all her nakedness. If you'd like help identifying her resin color then I can try to match it for ya! I'd love to hear what her name is once you decide on it.

 

Awesome! I'll need to take better pictures in proper lighting later on, but here she is under yellow lighting at night, sitting on one of my spare beds! I think she might be the default skin tone for AS Xi Shi?

And I don't know what name I'll give her, but I do know I'm going to dress her up as one of the characters in a webnovel I'm translating. ^-^!

Hi all, I hope you don't mind, but I was wondering if this was the thread that the 74cm body is discussed in? I can't find any others that mention it. I just got one recently for a head of mine and I LOVE the body it's one of the best ever and soooo smooth and buttery! The problem is, nothing I have fits him haha. I was trying to find recommendations and looking for the thread to ask in ^^ Thanks!!

 

I think this is the correct thread! I have one on order. I don't always trust site measurements, so I can't comment on what would fit yet!

Alice's Collections and Stacy's Pink Ocean will make some clothes to measurements you provide. Alice's Collections also provides measurements for selecting the right size.
