1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Another Artist Using Doll Likenesses Without Crediting?

Mar 5, 2014

    1. This is a picture of the first 12 images in his "Profile Pictures" Album.
Though lots of people forget Facebook duplicates the picture to put in the Profile pictures album too...
      But still, they're still there

    2. Yeah, the video is actually from February, but someone just posted it on his DevArt.

I'm a bit shocked that he actually offered commissions, and his prices...I know friends who draw fantastic artworks and even they ask a lot less than him!
I also scrolled through his FB and saw his updates regarding the book, claiming that it was already 75% finished etc., we are actually really lucky to have caught him before his Kickstarter ended, especially since he had already raised the money.

    3. Wow, I'm away for a day, and look what I come back to! I really appreciate how everyone has been looking out for each other, and for all the personal messages sent to me to alert me to the unauthorized use of my photos. I wasn't a member of Facebook - still don't really want to be - but created an account this morning so I could go take a look. I couldn't find any of my images on the guy's page - although I'm not totally sure where to look, having zero experience with Facebook. I scrolled down through dozens of the photos in his album, but didn't see any of mine there. I couldn't find any of my images on DevianART either. The Kickstarter page is down now, so I can't check that either. Obviously from people's screen grabs, this guy's "paintings" made from my photos were there before, so maybe he's taken them down already. If that's the case, then I really do appreciate everyone's efforts to get them removed.

I just wanted to say that it's so nice to belong to a group that cares, and watches out for each other.

    4. As I said, it's still wrong and I'm not getting sympathetic on him. I'm just backing my previous statement that we don't know everything that's going on in his life and therefore another friendly reminder that we shouldn't be harassing him on his personal FB or dA either than getting him to take his work down and stopping him from continuing this behaviour.

    5. Yeah, I sympathize with him (if it's true), but I still think he should've handled having no money differently. There's just no excuse. I'm broke too, yet I don't go off stealing other people's work.

I really wish I had his self-promotion skills, though!

    6. [IMG]

From his profile pics album. Is this little guy a Pippos? Anyone recognize him?

    7. Sorry, I should have clarified that he made a post to deviantart just now that linked to the video.

    8. For the photographers who's work appears in the video you can submit a copyright complaint here: https://www.youtube.com/copyright_complaint_form which I'm doing now...

I feel no sympathy for this man, I see no point in harassing him but I also have no interest in hearing his sob stories, regardless of his situation he's the one in the wrong. Plenty of people are broke and manage not to steal other people's work and attempt to profit from it. He claims to be an illustrator but he's nothing but a con man who owns photoshop, that doesn't exactly garner my sympathy.

ETA: I got a confirmation email from FB that they've removed my photos so it's definitely fb doing it.

    9. I must admit, my first reaction to this man was compassion, since I couldn't believe anyone without a sort of mental and/or social impairment can be this oblivious to the realities of copyright, especially a man claiming to be professionally involved in the publishing industry. However, were he really an innocent fool who got himself in hot water by mistake, he would have shown repentance, apologized to the people he offended and removed all of the images in question on his own, not when prodded by each image author.

He doesn't just steal and distort images by applying a tacky Photoshop filter. He thinks is perfectly acceptable to use other people's creative product as raw material. He misgenders characters. He ignores context. He really believes everything exists only to be used by him. And when it's pointed out to him, he is genuinely offended, like a rapist who sincerely believes women are only meant for him to use.

My photos were not among the ones used by him, but many of my RL friends' were, and I feel violated.

He deserves no compassion. The fact that he is a parent to a male child only makes his behavior more disgusting. No, we shouldn't bully him like a bunch of mean girls, but let's not forget that he isn't awarding us any shred of respect. He doesn't deserve any respect either.

    10. I'm still catching up on the thread, but yes, I did, and she thanked me -- sounded like a couple of people had recognized her work and had gotten in touch.

I also contacted a number of people I know through Flickr (he stole from several Russian and Eastern European artists that I hadn't seen on this thread), and made sure to link to the procedures for filing a DMCA takedown request, as well as a link here and a link to Lachlana's Tumblr post, since I figured that not everyone would have the DMCA info easily available, especially if they aren't in the US.

      *hugs to all*

It's amazing to see how the community came together for this -- you guys are awesome!! :aheartbea

    11. Only the person who received the comments can hide them on dA is what I keep finding otherwise mine would have been removed already

    12. Good news is that this is just a tracker for the kickstarter which is already down due to our collective reporting of the pilfered images. This isn't a separate source of funding for his mass art theft.

Bad news is that kickstarter doesn't do refunds for the people he essentially stole from. I see a tool for manage your pledge, but as I didn't contribute I don't know what the options are for management. Can a person take away their pledge? I wish I could see the options!

    13. Hansongirl beat me to it. Goodness though, where else did that guy try to promote his stolen stuff?

    14. Katyok I agree, no respect should be given in this case (I just don't want to see this man's life go to complete hell from cyber bullying). I'm hoping that his child doesn't follow his example in the future. :(
