1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Another Artist Using Doll Likenesses Without Crediting?

Mar 5, 2014

    1. I think it's fishy by proxy, but there isn't any artwork to report that I know of.

    2. Who is to say that he wouldn't open this cafe for artists just to steal art? He's done it online already, it's not a stretch to think he wouldn't in a "real life" scenario.

    3. Oh, I don't doubt that's entirely plausible but unfortunately there isn't much we can do in terms of his GoFundme project because we literally have nothing to report to GoFundme. There isn't any proof to back us up. Not with this.

    4. Yeah, not to be cruel, but... we can probably assume this artwork isn't stolen.
Still, if you truly want to be an artist, you keep practicing and working. It's difficult and it takes a long time, but it happens! Look at the earliest pages of webcomics like Penny Arcade or Questionable Comment for absolute proof. There aren't shortcuts.

    5. I noticed that there is a significant difference between a lot of the images he copied and the ones featured on that website, but aside from the traced Thor and Dobby, I noticed that one of them looked significantly different in skill and detail. I've circled it in red. Does anyone recognize it?

    6. I'd have to agree with Aronzo though I don't recognize the piece. There is far too much variation in skill and color usage in these. For instance, the portraits are nearly just one or two flat colors, yet the circled piece has tons of color usage. To clarify, I would be honestly surprised if that turned out to actually be his piece.

    7. I've been thinking in my head that it looks a lot like the style of an early sci-fi anime, but I can't be sure. Everything here is too inconsistent, though, and I'm not even sure how many of these aren't collected images as well.

    8. You're misunderstanding kickstarter, don't worry. No funds are taken until the kickstarter is both 100% funded and the time is over, so not a dime has been given to this guy.

    9. I think it's important to note something about how Kickstarter works. No money comes out of backers' accounts until the Kickstarter's completion date, even if it reaches the goal beforehand. Hence pledging--you pledge the money to the creator(s) if their Kickstarter goes through. Also, I am fairly certain you can cancel a pledge at any time. He hasn't gotten any money from his backers yet. (This doesn't hold for GoFundMe, but we can't protest that, as shady as it may seem.)

    10. His Deviant Art page has been deactivated!

    11. Wow. I can't believe this is a grown adult acting this way. Maybe time to admit you are a thief and apologize? What a hack.

    12. As of yet, nothing official from what I've seen. It's fishy since he's had multiple funding sites, and I would be suspicious of it based on his past doings.

I also should have worded that better.

    13. :cheer

Can anyone confirm if the photos were taken off his FB gallery too?

    14. Some, but not all.....

    15. Never mind, I was just double-checking. I could just as easily have missed proof that might have turned up in the meantime.

    16. I can see only 7 or possibly 8 BJD photos left on his Facebook page.

    17. His DeviantArt page, if it's deactivated, the user themselves did that and not the admins I'm pretty certain. If it were the admins, I think it would have come up with a 404 error or a "sorry this page doesn't exist" type of thing.

    18. Good! I'm glad to hear that his dA was deactivated and that most of the photos are gone on his FB.

As for that contest thing, I hope that he didn't win any money from it.
