1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Another Artist Using Doll Likenesses Without Crediting?

Mar 5, 2014

    1. I totally agree - plus there are too many styles in the artwork he professes. One artist has one style - recognizable - no matter what. He has 100+ different styles - because he steals them.

Look at this: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...411685.-2207520000.1394243891.&type=3&theater and then look at this:
      http://www.ebay.com/itm/Odin-Statue...383?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aba20a4a7

It is never ending. He is who he says he is. He (professes to be a Wiccan) and his wife (professes to be a pagan) have one child - born after she was 40. They married in 2009 (her 40th year.). Their most current address is Jacksonville, FL. I believe he is a sad excuse of a man - preying on others in order to have some sort of tenuous "success" in the world. That's just my opinion but I'm sticking to it.

My heart goes out oi every artist whose work has been pilfered. But content yourself that he has been caught. Remind yourself he is a user - not an artist. And vouchsafe yourself that he is below you - with no talent and an avarice to steal in order to succeed. In my opinion, big men don't do this - only little men who are trying to be more than they are.

Bless this community. We do have standards. We know the difference between right and wrong - and I, for one am humbled by your knowledge and responsiveness. You not only recognized an original photo, you knew to whom it belonged. There is great intelligence here. There is great ethic and friendship (even to relative strangers) here. Thank you.

    2. I *knew* that pic looked really familiar...as in I was pretty sure I'd saved it on Flickr. So I finally had a chance to go through my favorites and sure enough it was there. Below is MCN's version side by side with the original photo. I'm going to send a message to Freya74, the original photographer, so that they have a heads up. :-/ The original pic can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/75431493@N07/11823427693/in/photostream/

    3. AQueenofAllTrades: you are a Queen indeed! ♥ you rule! I knew it was 'familiar', but i could never have 'found' it. :D

    4. I've already informed freya74 through the Russian doll blog site.

    5. One has to wonder what he does for commissions. Did he just take down the specifics and try to find a doll photo as close as possible to what his customer wanted?
I wonder what would happen if the customer had wanted anything about the piece changed.

(out of curiosity since his dA is down, what were his commission rates anyway?)

    6. It's amazing how we all come to know and loved each others' resins. I knew I'd seen this unaltered picture...I just had to dig through the 1300+ pics I have saved in my Flickr faves. I sent a message to Freya through Flickr and I see that Katyok has done the same through the Russian doll blog, so hopefully it'll help.

    7. For what it's worth, I posted about this on my blog earlier tonight. I don't know how readers are homing in on it, but I'm getting a lot of hits. One came from Facebook. That kind of worries me, as I am not on Facebook. Thank goodness I kept a level head throughout and didn't resort to name calling. I even avoided calling him a pseudo-artist, which is what I believe him to be. I manipulated one of my own doll photos in PhotoShop to show how easily it can be done and how the original is still recognizable. Didn't use any of his "art".

    8. if he gets nailed for art theft it will most likely be with what he submitted as 'his' for the art book when the 'originals' and respective artists are checked with about permissions if it's needed (it's patently clear MBLilac gave no usage permissions). The fact that he stood to profit through the company for images not his to use will be more than enough grief for him... And then there are the big companies he 'used' (that game image is the one that is front in my mind).

    9. I could not disagree more.

Harassing him is right out, naturally, but "no need for any more actions" is a disservice to the artists whose work he is continuing to steal. We haven't identified all the photos yet, and he continues to claim the work of others as his own. Until it's ALL gone, the work needs to continue.

The "case" is not "closed" until every stolen image is gone and we can be assured he is not profiting from them.

    10. Oh, wow. That's a stolen Fantasia picture!

    11. I know right? I said similar to my spouse just the other day, "7000 in just a few months? There's no way this guy had the time to paint that many images."

Look at this quote from the interview here-

I don't even have the words. He has no idea what kind of time and work would really go into doing art legitimately or the value such art should have.

    12. I don't think he knows how much these dolls cost either... >_>

    13. Pinterest also has the feature that allows you to have 'hidden' boards... and under the 'my art' he only has the 2 images... You have to be careful with this site because it can be impossible to tell (unless you know to start with) who an image belongs to. Who pinned it or uploaded does not mean the image is actually theirs.... I myself have cropped Soul Doll images (from their site) and re-uploaded them which would show me as an owner (so to speak) of the images... which obviously I am not.

    14. http://artistmattnelson.deviantart.com/ his DA has been deactivated. No doubt he will make a new one because his reputation was smeared under that name. I'm very happy to see people contacting the artists. I wish I could help but I am unable to recognize an owner's dolls like this. I left a comment on his DA and sent an email to the publishing website he is a part of, but alas that is the extent that I can do.

    15. Relating to this link: https://www.goodreads.com/author_bl...hristopher-nelson-intellectual-property-theft

I'm not sure why this girl is being threatened with a lawsuit. She did an interview with Mr. Nelson, and now she's simply reporting that art theft allegations are being made against him as of yesterday. I made sure to comment a link to DeviantArt Journal to support her, because she is doing nothing wrong. She is simply reporting the situation.

If Mr. Nelson did nothing wrong, why is he taking down all of "his" art?

If he is innocent, why is he trying to hide all evidence? Only criminals react this way.

    16. lmao it's already gone along with the content of 4 out of 5 boards since "MY" post about his Pinterest page lol he's online again and cleaning house it would seem.
