1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Another Artist Using Doll Likenesses Without Crediting?

Mar 5, 2014

    1. Not sure that this guy would take care about copyright, he reused Disney pictues also, and I'm sure Disney take attention to the copyright rigorously. Anyway... I dropped a note to Disney also... I'm sure they take it serious. Maybe it won't help on bjd owners but maybe helps to stop further abuse of artwork.

    2. He's also stolen work from Assassin's Creed and Pathfinder. This guy is ridiculous!

    3. He's stolen a lot of Nicole West, aka Wingdthing on DA's art dolls, I'll send her a message about it now.

    4. I think that he has removed the "art" dolls pic in his fan page (thanks AC Santos)

    5. My worry is that there might be not enough reports against his Kickstarter project. I've already filled mine and the violation respective to my doll picture, but I wonder if Kickstarter will just force him to remove my picture in specific instead of shutting down his project altogether.
For sure he's going to use some bulk of the edited doll pictures he shares on facebook as content in his printed book, but there's no way we could prove it to the Kickstarter staff without him posting said doll pictures in Kickstarter by himself.

    6. You're welcome! I'm trying to do what I can and if it means having his name associated with art thievery, then so be it. He should be learning a very good lesson here because I'm fairly certain he simply assumed no one was going to notice or care. Meanwhile, he singlehandedly pissed off an entire community. Big one at that!

I'm not sure how many he had on his fanpage, but the bulk of them are still on his personal FB page, which unfortunately I wasn't able to tag.

    7. I wonder, if he has been found to have violate the copyright of one person publicly in his Kickstarter, and we are ware that he has done the same elsewhere, if there is a way that he can be obliged to publish more/all of the pictures in his book. Did you tell them that other people's work has been used by him in the same way and that, without being able to see the content of the book, we can't know how many are appearing in there? That might be worth throwing at them, as you are so far the only person who can report him to Kickstarter (and thank everything that you recognised your picture. That book needs to be stopped).

    8. This, this so much.
He already has reached his goal, and the thought that people throw money at him so he can make MORE money with stolen work is just so sickening.
I wish there could be a way to inform his backers about all this, I would be furious to find out that the money I decided to give someone was used for something like this.

    9. Reading their policy, I don't think they will just let him remove your picture, but will tell him to shut down his project. He has violated the rules. I doubt that Kickstarter is taking that likely.

Agreed. There is more than enough evidence that this man has never painted an original painting in his life. If you tell them how many more people are involved in this matter and that you can't be sure their work won't be used as content in his 'art book', Kickstarter should take it seriously.

Anyway, I've placed a warning on my facebook page, asking people to check if some of their work is being used and that's all I can do. And I think I'm already walking a fine line there. MadamMaumau is right. Don't go contacting his publisher colleagues and please don't post any angry replies on his DA or facebook, 'cause it will most likely do more harm than good.

    10. Unfortunately I didn't, since I have filled my report claim so early today and even before I've got to check in full on his facebook/Deviantart. But I think I'll send a complimentary for them, mentioning my report claim and linking to his facebook and the Photobucket album filled of comparisons. I have no idea how much that may help though.

    11. The more intel you can give them, the better.

What about his previous kickstarter project, the one that got canceled? Were there any clear art theft examples in there too? If so, it could be smart to notify them of that as well.

    12. This is from near the bottom of this page:

Perhaps someone who is requesting him to remove their copyrighted material can link him to this site and educate him... this is exactly what he is doing and he needs to stop pretending that it is OK... from the few remarks that he has published, he seems to think that he has the right to use other people's art if he Photoshops it to death, but that is not the case (again, Shepard Fairey found this out the hard way...)

    13. I know that Scott Smith who has a photo that was altered contacted Kickstarter and because they could not find Scott's photo on the Kickstarter page they could not do anything.
Facebook did however remove said photo, however it is still on his DeviantArt page.

I have not contacted this person, I have however shared this information with as many people as I could with appropriate links.

    14. Have been contacting/warning some of the artists on flickr who's work I recognised. People in BJD society seem to be taking action against him, I hope the artists of the work will take action as well.
Dont understand how he can think that this is ok?

    15. His previous project had a few other images listed also. I made sure to include a link to it in my report to Kickstarter.

    16. Oh my, that seems nuts.

    17. I've reported him to FB for copyright infringement of my photos. I do not see any of work on his dA page but if it shows up, I'll report him there as well.

    18. Apologies to the photographers I contacted who had already received similar messages -- I was sending notes as I found images I recognized.

What a jerkbag. I'm checking to see if any of my photos are in there, since he seemed to harvest heavily from Flickr.

      :vein

ETA: recognized one of Virginie Ropars' art dolls, am e-mailing her.

    19. I try and help too, I posted all over Flickr this link!!!! I want the victims to see this if they haven't already!!!! I do not like people taking artwork credit of others, whatsoever!!!!
