1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Any famous collectors of BJD's

Apr 18, 2008

    1. Actually I saw them for sale on the Goodreau web site a while back.

    2. I think I saw the Jareth-looking guy in that video at the Labyrinth Masquerade in Hollywood this summer--
      Photo here

and... to those who are posting about who they would hate to see with BJDs... please, this isn't an "I can't stand celeb-X" thread... Try to play nice. These are all real people and some readers may know them personally. Or just be a fan. The discussion is about famous people with dolls, not our opinions of said people.

    3. wow, two of my favorite authors have BJDs too! (Mercedes Lackey & Holly Black) that is just so awesome ^-^ That gives me a thought, it would EPIC to see Roiben (from Tithe) as a BJD! *starry eyes*

    4. I'm not sure at all about the background of this photo, but I found this pic of my favorite musician of all time, Amanda Palmer, and an as-of-yet unknown BJD!

      :D
Sorry, just had to share! PS If this is yours, please let me know so I can credit you~

    5. Heh, that's not Neil Gaiman's first experience of a BJD. He and I have mutual friends in common - LucyBond who used to be active on DoA a few years back, and her husband Adrian. It was me who got Lucy into BJDs in the first place (on her wedding day no less!), so I'm indirectly responsible for Neil's first experience of a BJD!

Oh, and a few pages back people were musing over whether Marilyn Manson has BJDs; I'm sorry to have to confirm that no, he doesn't. The Blythe on the inside cover of "Portrait Of An American Family" belonged to his then-girlfriend at the time. I've met him a few times (we usually end up chatting about Anton laVey, Aleister Crowley, Satanism and the occult whilst lurking in the corner of dimly-lit Goth nightclubs! :)) and whilst he's seen pictures on the internet and thinks they're cool, he doesn't actually own any himself. Yet. ;)

    6. I thought that was Neil Gaiman!

    7. I was watching Hannah Montana with my cousin and she had a Pullip on her night stand lol not a BJD but I was still like 0_0

    8. Far too many, my old and rare. Far too many.

My Seraphym just returned from CatDancer getting the mod for her Soom wings, and my husband just bought her a glass sword with a dichrioc flame embedded in the blade! Soon as she's strung again there will be pics.

    9. I'm on Milla Jovovich's twitter feed (because she's one of my favorite actresses and I find the things she posts interesting). A couple of months ago, she made a series of posts asking her twitter followers what they knew about Souldoll, where would be the best place for her to buy one, and what she would need for one? I saw this right before I went off for work in the morning and I have to say I laughed because it's a little fun to consider someone like Milla squealing at her computer screen over BJDs the way we all do. ;)

And of course there were /a lot/ of helpful responses pointing her in the right direction (as well as over to Den of Angels).

    10. That is Amanda Palmer with Neil Gaiman (and a cute Death BJD). They're a couple.

I think it's so adorable that Milla Jovovich wants a Souldoll. I always liked Milla, and here's one more cool thing.

    11. To be precise, they're married now. :)

    12. Will, I don't recognize the woman...I have just seen Neil before. So seeing her, to me, means nothing. I wouldn't know her if I saw her on the street. But him, I have read one of his books before. Seen his comics. But her, I know nothing about.

    13. She's a singer and ukelele player; she's the lead singer of the Dresden Dolls, but also a fairly successful artist in her own right. Neil turns up to quite a few of her shows. They honeymooned in Tasmania recently; Neil's now back in the States, and Amanda was due to be playing Christchurch but the earthquake hit an hour before she was due to fly out there.

I'm not a fan of her music, but they do make a cute couple. :)

The mini Death is cute too! I'd love to cosplay my Hound as Dream some day.

    14. Ah, so Neil got over his infatuation with Tori Amos then and moved out his parents basement? hehehe

I think it's cute that Milla was asking about Souldolls' hopefully she found her way over to DoA as it is just full of fantastic information.

    15. this is so cool to know that there are many famous people with dolls :D

    16. Holly Black AND Mercedes Lackey! That is just to awesome. It was really cool to read through this thread and see who does and doesn't have BJD's. Now to become famous and convert people! xD Kidding.

    17. The photograph (and the doll ;)) belongs to Chibi Kitsune, there are more pictures of the event (a book signing attended by Neil and Amanda in Dublin) in the Gallery thread here.

The doll is Suzuran, an AR Ren :) I recognised this photo instantly as belonging to one of our Irish members.

    18. Hahaha! I like the second part of this ;p lol!

    19. I know the Singer Kerli uses a BJD in her video "walking on air"

    20. Since I love Amanda Palmer AND Neil, it's a great photo! Her song about a clockwork boy makes me think of BJDs...
