Anyone Else Buying Their Grail Doll?

A grail doll I recently discovered and I desperately want is a Souldoll Lee Joon gi-C doll. I had no idea he existed. He was made way before i joined the hobby. Now that I know he exists I want him so bad, but don't really know how to go about finding him second-hand or where to begin. He is an older doll i don't know if he will be in good condition if I ever do find him. I don't plan on looking for him actively.

My grail doll that I am in the process of buying would be Peakswoods Gumiho Neo. I have one grail doll which is Peakswoods Gumiho Miro. Other grail dolls I want are the BTS doll heads and Volks Harry Potter dolls.

My profile is actually the grail Lee Joon gi doll I want in the same outfit.

 

Someone with a better memory on this can correct me, but I think very very few of those were made because using his likeness hadn't been agreed on with the correct channels and the doll was immediately pulled from production.

There were a few but...

 

Oh no! He must be incredibly rare. He is my next grail doll. I hoped there were lots made, so I could one day have him. I love his acting. I hope i can find one in decent condition with the outfit with a cost less than $3000. I wonder if that is unreasonable.

 

I'm planning to buy the simply divine thomas headsculpt as my first bjd because it's the one i want the absolute most!

 

I was quite happy with my collection, including layaways soon to wrap up for a couple of cute yosd’s, and I figured there was nothing else I needed. But then Dollzone suddenly did a limited re-release of a spectacular doll I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get…their SD mermaid, Sawarieda. I’d never even relegated her to a personal grail status because I thought she was completely unobtainable for me (too expensive, too big, no longer available, etc.) Even if I saw one for sale in the marketplace, there was no way I could ever come up with the funds quickly enough, nor hope to find space to accommodate her full 100cm in my small home. She just became a secret pining, an impossible quest and unreachable goal…you know, one of those “this is just too much doll for you” situations. So I contented myself with enjoying her in the collections of others.

But then, without warning, Dollzone suddenly re-released a very limited number of Sawariedas with a special sale…and they were even available in purple skin! I knew my regular dealer could hook me up with an extended layaway where I could actually work it into my budget, so I ran around the house like a madwoman desperately looking for a display space! And I actually found the perfect place! I ordered her so fast, smoke was rising from my keyboard! So now, my grail (that I always thought was too impossible to actually BE a grail) has safely been ordered.

 

For my grails, I can't even find them. Three out of four of my grails are nigh impossible to find for sale and have limited information on them. The last one is also hard to find for sale and I'll have to watch out for recasts. So even if I saved up, I'm not sure if they will even show up.

Can I have the link? I don't know how to use Facebook very well. Is it hard to look for dolls on the app? I'm more comfortable using Instagram or twitter. Does this seller have an instagram?

 

I found and bought my grail last year, A volks hewwit! now all i need is an Unoa boy in paradise skin and a Dream of Dolls Si ill have all my grails!

 

I actually don't have a grail! There's dolls I'd like but I've never actively hunted for something (at least since I began in the hobby). I would very much like a Honey Delf 31 Brownie/Pretzel pair but that's pretty much it!

 

I don't think it's likely that you will find the Souldoll version, which wasn't really a legal likeness, and produced only in a small amount before he was pulled. BUT...there are companies which will produce an individual doll to spec, and if you are actually willing to spend up to $3K, you can have him made exactly to your specifications.

 

Which companies might those be? If I get others to join can i reduce the cost from $3000 to $900? Where can I read more on this? Is $3000 the starting cost?
